I have all the confidence that when I know I need a gem to be set in a ring, that I will receive the same gem back with incredible detail and work done to that piece of jewlery. I have used this family jewlery store for over 25 years and have loved the service and professionalism of this establishment. Mr. Gilmore is not just another jewler, but a true 'goldsmith'!

I am a long time resident of Ocean Beach and am a firm believer is supporting local businesses. I have used Gary Gilmore over the years for cleanings and have purchased odds and ends from his unique collection. Recently I took my diamond engagement in to have the prongs tightened and found out that due to my line of work my setting had become extremely fragile and worn down and would have to be replaced. The process was explained to me, the setting, which appeared to be the same, was chosen and I left my ring to be repaired. When I picked it up I immediately noticed that it did not look the same. I'm not one to complain but this being my most precious jewelry item I chose to speak up about the fact that I wasn't happy with the way it looked and what could possibly be done to correct that. At first they tried locate the setting by tracking down where the diamond had been set. When that proved a dead end, they attempted to research through the IGI (International Gemmological Information) where to hopefully locate this particular setting. Again no luck as the ring was 7 years old and styles change. Feeling very discouraged and sad about the idea of not seeing the same ring on my finger as in past years they came up with a final solution: they could carve me a new setting based on the structure of my old one which luckily they had saved. I figured I'd give it a shot. Every step of the way they kept me informed from viewing the mold, to giving my opinion about what and if anything needed to be changed and then my final ok before proceeding. I picked up my ring yesterday and almost cried! It was 98% the same as my old ring which was a far cry from the first setting. The differences may have been subtle and only noticeable to myself, but Gary and his family went out of their way to make sure that I had exactly what I wanted and needed, no questions asked. All I can add is that Gary Gilmore is PROFESSIONAL, HONEST AND DID EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE THIS CUSTOMER WAS HAPPY AND SATISFIED!!!

WARNING!!! He does not do the repairs himself. He does not QA the work that is done and he stands behind his man-worker and will not believe you if you have issues with the repair. Do not take any repairs to this shop if you care about your jewelry.

I decided to take an antique ring in to have it sized and repeatedly asked for reasurance that it would not be damaged. When I got it back he indicated that it could not be sized and that he was not 'charging me' because it turned out that the ring was too fragile to size. He stated that when it started to break that they stopped and welded it back without damage to the ring. I believed him until I got home and viewed the DAMAGE with my loop. Not only had the ring fractured but they repaired a white gold ring with yellow gold...??? I took it back to him to discuss as I was very upset that he would even attempt to repair. Not much you can do to repair it now as it is ruined. I also assumed he did the repairs....wrong.
He asks me if I have had the ring previously repaired. I told him the ring was perfect and at no other time had anyone touched it. (I was afraid to have it re-sized) He tells me that he will need to discuss with his worker of 17 years who did the 'attempted prepair and who is "honest as the day is long" he says as he walks to the back room. I said "Why bother" to ask as he has already called me a liar. I have viewed my ring for 12 years and knew it was perfect.

Gary Gilmore crafted my engagement ring and our wedding bands. I had a diamond from my grandfather that I wanted to use, but needed help with the design. Gary's staff was helpful, and assisted us in coming up with the perfect ring. My husband just returned to buy me some pearl earrings for our anniversary. Nice jewelry selection!
