Ron Jacoby is a great mechanic. He's done some major repairs for me and I've never had to go back for a do-over. The work is good, the price is fair, and Ron (and Brian) definitely make you feel comfortable. I can't ask for any better than that!

Recently, I decided to take my car to an alternate repair shop from the dealer and found Ron Jacoby's shop. It's not unreasonably far from the Light Rail Station at Snell or the one on Santa Teresa, so that provides an alternative mode of transit after you leave your car at the shop.

The shop is located in an auto repair strip mall that doesn't have a locked gate for security at night. He did, however, have my vehicle inside the shop. If there were a lot of vehicles that required servicing that wouldn't fit into the shop, I sense they'd be out front.

My car had an intermittent problem starting. The first diagnosis was not what the problem was with the car, but when I questioned it, Ron said that I wouldn't be charged for the part/labor fixed in error. Personally, I felt that by taking it to an electronics specialty shop it would have been fixed right the first time, once the codes were read. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Pricing seemed to be equivalent to what I have been charged at the dealer for similar repairs. Due to an (unrelated to Jacoby's) over-zealous, AAA dispatched, tow-truck driver who complicated matters by trying to fix an intermittent problem while the vehicle was in a down-state. I specifically asked him to leave it alone and he insisted on "fixing it". Consequently, it took more time and more expense to try to repeat the problem. NEVER have AAA take your vehicle to get fixed if it is due to an intermittent problem... Live and learn.

Still, Jacoby's came through. Ron is a pleasant guy to deal with and provides personable service. I hope to do more business with him in the future. If I do, I will be sure to report back.
