I have been a member at this local Ymca for 3 years and I hated all 3 of those years. You really can't get a good workout there because the place is always crowded. The pool is also pretty busy especially during evening hours. And the daycare - you cannot get a place there unless you arrange it in advance and it just seems like I could never do that. Overall, not a pleasant gym. I now belong to PJCC.

The YMCA swimming pool is overcrowded with adults, kids during summer time, so it is very difficult for your to SWIM with your arms and legs. And the water smells and turbid most of the time except the 1st few hours they filtered/efilled the water.
If you wanna use the swimming pool only, they woudl still charge you the memebrship including using the gym as well even though you don't want to use it which is probably more than $60 a month.

PROS:
CONS: dirty/crowded

There are many people I know who use the Y for child care (they sign up for the gym, then use the childwatch and just read) but it is much more than that. They have many classes, including a new knitting class, summer camps and many other events for the community. The biggest drawback is the expensive monthly membership fee, and very expensive signup fee.

PROS: lots of options
CONS: expensive
