We ordered a variety of items during our first visit here: fried artichoke hearts, fried calamari, BBQ oysters, fried oysters and Dungeness crab. The artichoke was good, but we found a hair in the batter...so this dish got taken away and off the bill. The calamari was okay, although I expected better from a restaurant in HMB. The BBQ oysters came 4 to a plate, but one was missing and another one was really, really small...we asked for the fried oysters instead and those were pretty good. The crab was overpriced ($15.95 for a tiny half crab).
Although the service was friendly and our server was apologetic about everything that happened tonight, we would not eat here again.
Great portions of fish, awesome salsa and they always have the most ice cold glasses to fill with Anchor Steam. We have taken many out of town guests, all have vowed to not eat another fish taco until they can get back to Joanne's. Well that maybe going a bit far. But they are killer.
enjoy
My wife brought me here several unsuccessful times before we finally dined here together. Seemed like everytime we went just get the timing right.(Example, they are closed on tuesdays). They have a good variety of casual cuisine to choose from. Burgers, Sandwich's, Soups, Salads, Fried Foods, they got it! No exotic ingredients, just good local food. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts and the plate was huge. Artichokes are expensive and we received a lot of food for the price, good value. We ordered the crab shrimp combo sandwich which was slightly runny, but tasty. Order fries and bread, cause it doesn't come with your meal. Soda comes in a can. No frills, but good food.
Pros: Good Value, Big Menu
Cons: No frills
I had the pleasure of dining at Ketch Joanne's restaurant this past weekend. While the ambience may be lacking the food is absolutely incredible. I had the shrimp and crab louie salad and my mom had the shrimp and crab melt on toasted sourdough bread. We could not believe the quantity and quality of seafood in both dishes. It was unbelievable. The server was very friendly and made several recommendations. We couldn't have had a better meal for under $40. If you don't mind small booths, dark walls, and a casual dining atmosphere this is the place to go for seafood. When I go back to California to visit my family again I will make certain to take a drive to Half Moon Bay to have another fabulous meal here. P.S. Don't go on a Tuesday because they are closed.)
