Very disappointed with their food and service. Just like "1969fernando" mentioned on an earlier post, their menu was misleading and overrated. I too ordered the seafood soup that suppose to include fish, shrimp, octopus and vegetables.

If this is your first time trying out authentic mexican food try their Birria. I have had this dish at different places, but La Barca's is the best I have found. They also hand make their tortillas. Their prices are excellent and the wait is not long.

I'm a regular customer but I was very disappointed about the poor quality of food and service. I ordered a seafood soup that suppose to include fish, shrimp, octopus and vegetables. Unfortunately, the menu description of the soup was misleading and overrated. The soup included simply numerous fish bones, a fish tail that is not acceptable for human consumption, two shrimp (without pealing), a few vegetables and lots of hot water. I politely approached, the waitress and the manager(owner) and showed them if this matter could be resolved. Their response was that they would make it up to me on my next visit and that he would speak to the cook so that would not happen to anyone else. I find it disturbing that I left the soup on my table after showing it to management, paid $14.00 and they continued their business as usual.
I'm not here to discredit these people but I feel they should incorporate a policy which allows customers to be compensated either by giving a choice of another meal or reimbursement.

Good luck to any future customers.

I first heard about La Barca at my cousins wedding because they were her caterers. All the guest were very happy with the food and the service. They even took the person that does the tortillas to the location and she made them there. They left some business cards and I went to eat to the restaurant. Its been about 7 years now and I have NEVER left disappointed. Very FRIENDLY service, GREAT food, and the best part its actually AUTHENTIC. They have great HOME MADE corn tortillas, which are my favorite. They also make fresh orange and carrot juice and fresh fruit waters. None of that powder stuff. There chips and salsa, which they take when you first sit down, are FREE! There salsas and Guacamole are to die for. The PRICES are VERY reasonable for the portions that they give.

All around, I love this place because there's finally a REAL Mexican restaurant to go to.

If you want to try REAL AUTHENTIC Mexican food I HIGHLY recomend you try

I think the food is outstanding and very authentic, but almost each time I have had dinner or lunch there the service is terrible. They are very friendly and always tell me it's nice to see me again, but they don't come by the table often

While La Barca de Jalisco isnt my favorite Mexican food place, it does offer a large menu of all different kinds of dishes and it is good. Visually, its not appealing. Seems to be a common theme these days with Mexican food places around
