Heroes Comics is GREAT!
by todd c.
Heroes Comics is a great place for comics, superheroes, action figure collectors, gamers and other hobbyists.
I have been shopping there for over 10 years. Dave (the owner) and his staff are always friendly and helpful and there is an ample selection to choose from. The staff are also comic fans, and are always pleasant to deal with.
The aisles of back issues and trade paperbacks are neatly arranged and the new comics are always placed in the same area. They always post when new comics will be delayed (though longtime comic fans should already be aware that holidays impact comic book shipping and thus cause delays a few times out of the year).
The books are always in pristine condition, unlike Barnes & Noble or Borders, so if you are a collector you don't have to worry about getting damaged goods.
Heroes Comics has survived as long as it has because it is a good store with great people!

Great in 05 not so great in 09
by Tim C.
My first experience with Heroes was in the Summer of 2005. I was visiting friends, I'm from San Diego. I was very impressed with the vast selection of Graphic Novels and back issues of comics, not to mention the toy and t shirts. The staff was very friendly. I went in today Summer of 2009. The Graphic Novels and toys and t's were there, Alot of the back issue box were inoperative. The clerk did not say a word to me the whole time I was there. I purchased 2 of the older comics on the wall behind the counter the first time I was there. And was planning on buying some more this time. But since the clerk was not as friendly as the last time I looked around and made my way back to the front door. Least to say I left without buying anything and will debate if I will visit again on my next visit to Fresno next time.

maybe a little too rude???
by kim w.
I love this store... my wife went with me the first time and gave me the :go ahead" to stop in whenever I like.
HOWEVER... I stopped in last week and was treated quite rudely. I usually stop in to buy long boxes for comics. I went staright to the counter that holds the boxes and saw only lids... the boxes were all missing. I asked what had happened and I was told that that was that. THEN I noticed that someone was being told that they should have read the note on the door coming in... when I asked where the recent comics were (the shelf where the recent comics was all empty). I THEN was told that I should have read the note on the door as well as the note where the recent comics usually are and then I would have known that the new comics weren't coming in today but on Friday. Then I was further insulted by being told that the notes had pictures on them JUST LIKE COMICS and that I should have been able to read the notes... since they had pictures on it.
It may be a long time before I go back...
The ARE other stores you know...

They always have a great stock of graphic novels and comic books! I always used to buy my Japanese Manga from them when I was into that, and they were always in 100% perfect condition. Great company!

Heroes has all the new comics and graphic novels and a decent selection of older ones. It is a more family atmosphere than some other comic stores I've been in, but they do have an adult area that is unrestricted, so watch your kids.
PROS: Clean store, great owner
CONS: not enough old stuff
