Mayan Night Club

MAYAN...#1 CLUB IN LOS ANGELES, I've been to several clubs is the downtown area and this club is the best. Three floors of fun dancing and partying til 2:30am. The doorman is super cool and security does a great job making you feel at home.

you all should go home with all this crap if ur sorry azze dont like the mutha club why the freak go ....next time if ur sorry ass is gana go to the mutha club bitchez dont cumplain ....hoezzzz

Friday>> even I got there late..Love the music, the 2 dance floors>>I read a comment.. about racism..> impossible..> the manager is Asian. H e almost did not let me in> security measures.. I was wearing a brace on my foot.The atmosphere.. just good.. music great..people OK.- hot humid as can be.. upper floor..the lady in the restroom sells garbage.. opened up already. be careful...Was worth driving 1hr.. to get there.. getting home@ 4:30am!friendly bouncers inside..Outside cautious.."dress to impress has not changed in my opinion"This rule is what makes the club a nice exclusive club.

2 years ago this club used to be the bom! now it know with the people that goes there, low class females and guy, I don't know how that fat gay bouncer let them in. I remember when people used to dress nice to go to the club now it is the op positive. Friday night is ghetto night. If this club continuous like this, it's gonna lose prestige. May 12, 2008.

Not long time ago I visited this nightclub on friday which was ok, last friday, my friends and I want to spend good time, surprise!! a lot bold men and low class women, like gang members,it is disgusting, the nightclub is beautiful but let in these kind of people brings it down, if you want to have a good time look for some nice places,no wonder they lower the admission.

this club is not all that cracked up to be!! First off..I really do not have anything against chicano latinos at all but tonight really pist me off. The bouncer at the club who was this big fat guy with glasses called me and my friend out when we were in line waiting to get in. He said we couldnt get in because we were wearing flats so we got out of line and watched to see if anyone else was able to get in that was wearing flats. AND THERE WAS! I went over to him and asked him if he was going to let those other girls go in because they're wearing flats as well and he gave me an attitude and said "we makes the calls over here" to my friend's response she asked if it was because we werent mexican and to his reply he nodded his head!!! So my advice to you non-hispanic race..this club is the most racist club anyone could ever go to. its not even the club that is bad. it the bouncers that they have that are giving the club a bad name. I want people to know that whoever that bouncer is..he's going to get what's coming to him. He didnt have to be so rude about it..so what if we're not mexican..that doesnt mean he had to say any of the things he said. he's a racist!!!

FIRST TIME I WAS THERE I WAS LIKE WHAT REALLY I WOULD TELL EVERYONE TO GO WITHOUT A DOUBT..

The Mayan has Salsa nights on Friday and Saturday. There is a great instructor at the beginning of the night (before general dancing) to show you the basic Salsa moves, but believe me, this is nowhere near what you will need to dance on this floor.

Once general dancing starts, it is easy to be intimidated by the level of dancing - if you are a beginner or medium dancer, definitely go with a group of folks that are at your level, this will make it more comfortable because you'll be able to dance with each other.

It is tough to walk up to a person and ask him/her to a dance unless you are a sizzlin' salsa superstar - it is more of a nightclub atmosphere than a ballroom. (I've heard The Granada in Alhambra is more of a ballroom atmosphere where folks are there to dance Salsa rather than pick each other up.)

The live music was very good when I was there.

PROS: Historic, good music
CONS: Intimidating

THE MAYAN WAS ONE OF THE FIRST CLUBS I FIRST WENT TO .I HAVE BEEN TO OTHER CLUBS, AND I STILL I HAVE TO SAY THAT NOTHING BEATS THE MAYAN. I'M 25 YRS. OLD & I YET THE MAYAN HAS EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A CLUB.BEUTIFUL WOMEN AND VERY HANDSOME MEN, AND 3 FLOORS THAT HAVE THE MUSIC OF YOUR CHOICE. ONCE YOU GO TO THE MAYAN YOU ALWAYS GO BACK FOR SECONDS I ASSURE YOU!!!!!!!!!!

You have to come here at least once in your lifetime. This is the world famous Mayan Night Club where you'll find the hottest Salsa, Latin and Afro Latin dancers and wannabe's in one room. This is a great place to come with a group of people or on a special occasion. The dress attire is semi-formal so don't come in jeans or casual pants. Ladies it's free before 10pm so be smart and get here on time, even if you're in line but don't make it through the door, you're out of luck. Be prepared to dance your heart away and meet a couple of random joes. Always fun.

Very, very fun club for a great night of dancing and live music. Dress code is required and due to that, the crowd seems to be a bit more ready to impress. There are three levels of music, the bottom, "rock en espanol", the second, "Salsa with a live band", and the third, "hip hop". The bonus is that there is a balcony type view on the fourth floor and a small outdoor patio for fresh air. Admission price is reasonable for a club and it's well worth the fee.

A true Los Angeles landmark and star in its own right, having appeared in several films and advertisements. Different scenes on different nights, packed on the weekend with several rooms in its cavernous space - the music varying from hip-hop to salsa. Great dancers and cool vibe. The bouncers and doormen need to chill, though - But don't let their attitude keep you from having a good time.
