I like to get breakfast at Pacific Whey. I'm not a huge fan of their entrees, but my husband LOVES their pilgrim meal. The cookies are also great and some locations have discounted pastries/baked goods after a certain time.

Love this place, but there's not enough seating to accomodate the weekend rush. There's outdoor seating, but it can get cold any time other than during the summer.

Overall there's a nice choice of food on the menu, it's well-prepared, and tasty!

Pros: copious amounts of tasty baked goods

Cons: amount of seating available, small dining area

I love this place for breakfast as it is close to my house and the food is good. The only downside is the price. For breakfast it can be pricey. I will still go when I can afford it and want to go out to eat.

Great food, but pretty expensive for a casual restaurant. The service in Ladera Ranch location isn't too friendly or accomodating, but the service at the other locations is fine. Recently, they changed their iced-tea to Lipton (a lot of us were addicted to the other tea), which was a bummer...now just a run-of-the-mill $2.50 tea. It would be nice if they offered substitutions without adding on a lot more money, because it's already pricey. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but they could improve on a couple of things.

The address listed is actually their original location which has the same quaint atmosphere as Crystal Cove minus all the tourists. Pacific Whey is one of my all-time favorite places to go for Saturday morning breakfasts. Local neighborhood residents bring their pets and everyone sits outside enjoying the coffee and sunshine. Ask the owner about her custom birthday cakes made with real edible flowers.

The Orange County coastline is pretty sublime. So much so that it is not uncommon for there to be houses stacked against the sea and restaurants and shops squeezed in between these view-priveleged enclaves. The Pacific Whey Bakery is just one of these squeezed in spots. While Citysearch references the Newport neighborhood joint, the best Pacific Whey location, from this small family owned chain, is the cult status Crystal Cove Center spot.
Here Laguna and Newport locals converge with tourists from local luxury hotels to enjoy the smattering of tasty treats offered in a fauxFrench decor. Lines form out the door on Saturday and Sunday morning for the egg scramble breakfasts and a chance to sit on the bouganvillea and olive tree shaded patio.
To make a long story short--- go there. Sit by the sea without paying a fortune. Watch the real housewives of Orange County saunter about as they shop. And then, eat something. Their cinnamon pull-apart and iced tea combination is pretty good, you could say... sublime.

Pros: Consistently delicious fare!

Cons: Sometimes crowded!

While we have enjoyed breakfast entries at Pacific Whey, we were recently disappointed by the desserts. The piece of cake were ordered was sadly overbaked, and so dry that it was crunchy.

PROS: Nice ambiance for hanging out
CONS: Expensive and inconsistent

Pacific Whey cafe is one of the best places to go for breakfast (their lunch menu is plenty appetizing, too)! Their buckwheat pancakes, or eggs benedict are amazing. There are two locations, one of which overlooks the coast at Crystal Cove. It is a sit yourslef restaurant where their staff brings your yummy meal to you while you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Their baked goods are really delicios, as well. There is always an assortment of freshky baked cookies to purchase. Their lunch menu includes standard items such as: sandwiches, soups and salads. This is a great place to bring out of twon visitors.

PROS: -great ambience
-a variety of choices
-great breakfast & lunch
CONS: -pricey
