worst experience ever, he said "I will test your car for smog if it passes we can fix any other problems we find". what actually happened, I passed emissions test but,..."well my smog guy entered the negative info in the computer"... "you fix stuff I'll correct it in the computer, your problem now". Do not take your car to this guy, unless your are sure it will already pass...he will destroy your life in the dmv smog computer system, or his jerk Ukrainian mechanic will, and stand by and watch you flop around trying to fix things yourself, like a fish out of water. doesn't care, wont help. Blames any negative stuff that happens on his foreign mechanic. Avoid this guy like the plague. Vasily is the smog guy from hell.If you are not sure your car will pass avoid these guys like the plague. My car did pass the main part of the test Vasily just decided i needed some extra attention and totally destroyed me.

Randy and his crew my have saved my sanity. I had been driving around in my ancient '94 car for three years without ac. Each approaching summer brought with it the horrors of driving around, baking like a potato in an oven. With all the windows down, driving on the freeway was barely tolerable, but when I got on the city streets and got caught at a stoplight, the heat was just brutal. I didn't even think about getting the ac fixed because I knew I couldn't afford it.

Last week my girlfriend finally succeeded in bullying me into going to HER mechanic, Randy at Superior Automotive. It was either I visit them or she was never going to ride in my car again. I figured that they'd tell me the cost for a fix would be seven hundred bucks or more, then I could show Cindy the estimate and she'd get off my back. Done-deal.

So I drove over to their shop (mercifully it was just a couple of stoplights off the freeway exit). Randy, owner, was at the counter and when I asked what this was going to cost, he said he'd have one of his guys take a look.

Waiting rooms with wifi may be in with some people, but the cold water machine was what rocked my world. 11 a.m. and it was already 80 degrees outside. An hour later they told me all I really needed was a freon recharge and a few adjustments. I went next door to the "tugboat" fish and chips place (I hope it was fish) and 90 minutes and $140 later I was on the the road again, chillin' with all the windows UP! This summer, Cindy has one less reason to nag, I can sit up straight and tall behind the wheel, and when I get out, the back of my shirt doesn't stick to the seat. I can live with that.

I found this place just as I was driving by. My car had been acting funny, not ha-ha funny, weird noises funny. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed to replace the bushings on both rear wheels. Problem was, the dealer didn't sell the bushings separately, they came sealed into something called "splines" at $495.00 each plus seven hours labor. Total: $1900.000. Not gonna happen.

Anyway, I gave Superior a chance and they did an on-line search and found aftermarket bushings for about $35 each. The quality was excellent and it only took an hour and a half to bust out the old, worn bushings and slip in the new ones.

I saved $1650.00 and they did the work while I waited. I'll be going back. Hey, I need to save every penny I can and $1650 is a whole lot of pennies.
