Pet affaire has not handled my pooch very well at all on several occasions. Why take your dog to a groomer when they miss every detail. My dogs ear was bleeding when I picked her up as well... I will never take her back there again.

They seem to do a good job grooming my dog (a long-haired shepherd mix) but compared to where I used to go before I moved, Pet Affaire is nothing special. One time they trimmed parts of my dog's fur even though I had not requested nor expected it. The fur around his toes was cut so short that it was actually bald in some places. Plus, they charge about $20 more. I used to go to the Barking Lot in Tarzana and granted, the rent in Venice is probably higher, but it still seems like a lot to me. Also, my previous groomer requested paperwork regarding my dog's vaccinations which made me feel like they were really trying to protect the health of all the dogs, and this is something Pet Affaire doesn't do. I highly recommend the Barking Lot and would continue taking my dog there if it weren't so inconvenient for me now.

Pros: Conveniently located

Cons: Expensive

Instead of calling me, they tried to cover it up, which made matters worse. When I picked him up, I noticed that his eyes were drooping and he was panting. I rushed him to the animal hospital. Had they called and told me right away, I could have come earlier, and my dog would not have suffered so long.

Cons: Bathed my dog in some shampoo that he was allergic to.

I brought my dog to the Pet Affaire after many aggrevating and horrible grooming experiences in town. The very first time we were there, weI felt like we had known them for years. They were sweet to our dog and when through her excitment she had an accident in the shop up front, they said that is alright. I asked for something to clean it up and the owner said no I will do it, no problems.
When I went to pick our dog up she looked beautiful. They did what we wanted with our dog and I have been going there every since. The owners are great and friendly. I recommend this shop to dog owners 100 percent. She also smelled good and trust me I have taken my dog places that she smelled worse when she came out. I would recommend Pet Affaire to anyone.

I couldn't believe it - THEY LOST 2 dogs!!! The woman was crying, and the worker didn't even say sorry. The worker that afternoon just made her go to the side & continued to ignore her! After witnessing THAT - I asked to see my dog before I paid them. I noticed that they didn't do all the services, so I asked that they credit or do the services. The worker refused. I offered to pay for ONLY the services they DID do. I said I'd never go in there again, ESPECIALLY after seeing the way they treated the other owner. The next morning, the owner, Rodney called many times and filled my voice-mail box with false accusations. I phoned back and told him the truth (which apparently his worker did not). Either way, Pet Affair = VERY unprofessional.

In the end, I found a cheaper place that DOES NOT LOSE their dogs a few miles down.

All of the reviews have been about dogs, figured I would add my review for you cat people looking for a GREAT place to get your baby groomed!

We have a Persian cat whose undercoat comes in aggressively when the weather starts to get cooler. It is impossible to keep her brushed out. We used to live in Venice and used Pet Affair many times to get her shaved. They always did a wonderful job with minimal nicks to her skin which is a true miracle as close as her knots are to the skin. We moved to S. Pasadena a couple of years ago and have used 2 different groomers on her since. Both times she has come home traumatized, cut up and the last time she limped for just over a week after getting shaved! Through these endeavors we learned an even higher appreciation for the Pet Affair groomers. We have decided that we cannot afford to take our baby anywhere else no matter how inconvenient the location is for us.. Based on the behavior of our cat every time we pick her up from Pet Affair, we are convinced that they are very gentle and sweet with her. We will never take her anywhere else for grooming.
Thank you Pet Affair GROOMERS!

When I read the last reviewer's negative comments I had to add my two cents. Pet Affair the friendliest, most professional grooming outfit in Los Angeles. My wife and I have tried a dozen places and all them sucked in their own way. The guys at Pet Affaire cut his hair perfect, groom him immaculately and best of all, my dog doesn't cry like a maniac like he does when we take him everywhere else. I'm not saying he likes it, but he certainly seems to like it way more than the other places. I highly recommend Pet Affaire and so does my dog. Oh and they're cheap as hell. Just $45 both a cut and groom.

They really love pets! And they know how to groom them. I had a good experience when I had to get a long haired cat shaven due to knots. They did a great job, doing what was necessary while adapting a little to be sensitive to my concerns and fears about a bald cat in the winter! Easily recommended.

I tried Pet Affaire based on a neighbor's recommendaton, and all the raving revews on this site. The staff seemed very friendly on the phone when I made my appt for my dogs bath/cut. I was quoted $65-70 for each dog. Seemed reasonable enough, although was used to paying $50 per dog over at Centinela Pets on Centnela Av. Unfortunately the groomer at CP left unexpectedly with no forwarding info and has yet to be replaced. After dropping them off the owner called me to tell me it will be $90 per dog based on the heavy matting and "aggressive behavior". I did tell them that my female is tempremental when I dropped them off, yes she has been muzzled before during groomiing, usually no big deal. But my male is super friendly, however they decided to go ahead and muzzle him anyway, although later confirmed by a member of the staff, that he wasn't acting aggressively. I never heard complaints from groomers/owners about my dogs being such a huge ordeal, behaviour, condition of coat etc. They told me they required 2-3 groomers per dog just to get the work done. I in the past have brought my dogs to groomers with heavy matting, dirty, stinky and have not ever been told that they required 2-3 groomers per dog. The most they expressed was that my female needed to be muzzled and they charged me $20 extra for the heavy matting.
When my dogs came home I could still see the outline of the muzzle around my male's face, it stayed there for quite awhile. My female had knicks on her belly and she was clearly upset, still shaking for quite a long time after arriving. She has never acted this way when arriving from the groomers. All in all, the cut was decent however not worth the obvious trauma my dogs endured. Also for $90 per dog, I would've just called a mobile dog grooming service, which I have payed $75-85 per dog . I just wish I knew where the Centinela Pets groomer is now, $50 for bath/shave, great cut, no bitching about my dogs, and they left happy....

This is a great place to take your dog. Great prices, great grooming. My King Charles Cavalier comes out shiny and spotless every time. The staff is extremely friendly and even my timid little dog thinks it is a painless experience!

I took our dog, who also was rescued from a shelter and had no previous grooming experience, to Pet Affaire to be groomed for the first time recently, and I could not have been more pleased with the results. After I made an appointment, I dropped her off at 8am and she was done before noon--completely washed, dried, brushed and trimmed. The people there were so friendly and efficient--grooming will now be a regular part of our dog's routine. Excellent job!

Thank you!! Finally a great place to take my cocker spaniel to get her monthly "spa" treatments! We are greeted with friendly personal service EVERY time! The owners, Frank and Rodney have treated us with Red Carpet care for the past year we have been visiting them! Yes, they have a note card on us but there is no need since they take the time to get to know you and your dog.

The prices are fabulous and worth every penny. I trust them to care for my dog and I know she is in good hands because every time she comes out to greet me she twirls around like a ballerina - that is a sign I know she is happy! I highly recommend this "understated" down-to- earth shop to any fellow pet-owner. I am a highly satisfied customer to say the least!! I am a very picky customer but also tip accordingly!!!

Pros: Location close to Venice, Marina del Rey, Westchester

Cons: None. There is little inventory for pet supplies i.e. collars, etc. but hey, who cares if it keeps the cost of gromming down for me.

Our pet... a shelter rescue... had no previous grooming experiences, pet affaire did an amazing job of suggesting a style and providing a wonderful experience including great treats afterwards and wonderful products (at great prices) for us to reward him with; our dog has never been happier and gets compliments on his looks wherever we go.

Everyone at Pet Affaire is very helpful. If you don't know exactly what you are looking to do for your dog's cut, they always pick a great look for you. The price is acceptable and the scheduling is easy most of the time. (Weekends can get a little busy). Most importantly, they treat your dog very well and are obviously professionals! I highly recommend this groomer.

I am yet to find a groomer that is better and nicer. They are super nice. My dog is happy when she leaves and she looks Great! They really are hands down, great. I live far away from the shop, but it's worth the extra driving.
