I don't think I would recommend this place. I knew our waitress, which is probably why she was so eager to make up for what had happened. We ordered 2 steak dinners, both steaks had already gone bad. Bad steak....at a saloon....really??? She offered to replace them with different meals, which was greatly appreciated.
However, we still had to wait an extra fifteen minutes or so for the new orders. To make up for this, she offered us free dessert. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake, just awful. It had chunks of strawberry actually in the cheesecake, with strawberry fruit topping, which was the best part. But the cheesecake was hard and warm. It wasn't appetizing at all.
I don't think I will be eating here again. I can only imagine what kind of service we would have had had I not known her.
As for the restaurant itself, it's a fun little saloon. The decorations make for interesting things to look at.

Calling the Office a restaurant and Saloon is about right. It has the wide-open feel, and wood paneling of an old western saloon.
The meals are enjoyable, greasy comfort foods. Big sandwiches, open-faced sandwiches, fish and chips, meatloaf. All of it hearty, tasty, hot, and abundant. They even have a Linguica sandwich!
Lunches come with excellent fries or cole slaw.
The service is just average, but it really doesn't matter because they are cheerful and nice.
Prices are reasonable. You can get a full lunch for under $10...and the plate will be overflowing.
Santa Maria doesn't have many good restaurants. This is one that is worth trying.
