      Scumbags. I went in for my timing belt on my mazda and they busted up water pump in the process and tried to charge me a crapload. My car never leaked a damn bit until I brought it here and now I m faced with spending more than this car is

      I cannot speak for bad experiences of other customers but one thing i can say is that my own personal experience at the pep boys in San Fernando, CA, has been great. Every time I have been in that store to have my car fixed, I have received a very welcoming attitude and helpful advice. Personally, I have dealt with Jose Hernandez on multiple occasions and he has been very helpful every time I have been there. I have compared prices across the internet, and pep boys is cheaper than the dealer and many other places.

      This place needs to get investigated. They sold me a broken battery and refused to replace it.

      Worst automotive shop in California.

      I went in there today because of a faulty battery they sold me last year. I showed them my receipt, and they told me it was not proof of purchase. They called it an "estimate", not a receipt. That was the only thing they gave me as proof when I bought the battery. I told them to check their computers for the date of purchase, and they refused to. Then the employees told me to leave the store, accused ME of blackmailing them, and refused to service me.
      I went to their manager and repeated the problem. His tone was the same. After wasting an hour trying to prove I bought the battery there, I finally told them I would sue them. Pep Boys knew they had proof that I bought the battery, so they begrudgingly complied.

      Rude employees and managers, crooks, and wasted time. Don't go here.

      DO NOT GO HERE!

      This morning I was going to head to work and my car wouldnt start. I got a ride to work and my roommate called AAA. They came out and jumped it, cleaned off the terminals, made it corrosion free etc. The battery died again, so I took it in after work to get a new battery. I get the one I need and they go to install it. 15 mins later he comes back and says "there's a slight problem. your terminals need to be replaced, they are corrded (sp?) and wont tighten." I told him I had AAA out earlier and they said they were fine. He took me in the shop and the mechanic came up and proceeded to "show" me how it wouldnt "tighten". I'm not an idiot, and I could easily see for a FACT he had the tool on reverse so it'd LOOK like it wouldnt tighten. Freaking RIP OFF! I argued it for a bit, then said 'Ok." (just out of worry he'd do something to cause a problem with my car.) He showed me a price then said "well, those parts may not work. I have a feeling for your car it wont, so it'll cost more." I told him it'd better work, and 20 mins later they were done! DO NOT GO HERE. Especially if you are a girl....

      yesterday at my local PEP BOYS @ sylmar I was looking for a new oil filter and breaks which i don't really know about (not into auto parts) so i entered the store and the first thing i see is a cashier flirting with other customers, it catched my attention because one guy which seems to be the manager didn't say anything to her and didn't seem to care at all. so i just go to service and asked this really helpful and nice guy MARIO to help me out with my oil filter and breaks which he did, he was relly nice, he told me about the prices and answer other questions that i had about the breaks.i've been at this pep boys store before and nobody had help me out like this guy MARIO did. i really appreciate his help and patience with me (i was doing alot of questions) he's really professional. if you happen to go to this pep boys store @ sylmar i really recommend you to go with this guy he will help you out with anything.( in the other hand i would really apreciate if your cashiers were a litle bit more "professional"
      are they working at the store or trying to get dates?????)

      I handed employee #1, in the tire department a paper of the name and size tire that I wanted to buy. Employee #1 asked me if I wanted to buy the more expensive tire that I had asked for. I said no thank you I will take the $36.00 Futra. When I returned home I notice that the tire was in deed not the tire I had requested for in writing. When I returned to the store employee #2 informed me that the Futra tire was discontinued and that is probably the reason why he gave you the Cornnell. Employee #1, sold me what he wanted to sell me.Employee #1, did not inform me about this discontinued tire.Employee #1, told me that their were no more tires at any other store and either keep the one he sold me or get a refund and the blown out tire will be return.Employee #2 told me that he found a Futra tire in the Granada Hills store and for me to leave my car overnight. I did.The next day, spoke w/employee #1...and asked me what happened? I explained the above stated and responded by telling me "you said, you wanted the cheapest tire". I replied, "yes...the least expensive Futra, I gave it to you in writing on the paper with the lyrics". Employee #1 did not respond. Employee #1 then stated, well, the Futra is discontinued, and the Granada Hills Store does not have it. So, do you want to keep the tire that's on your car or do you want me to give you a refund and put back the blown out tire back on? I called the Santa Clarita Store and the Granada Hills store and they both verified that they had the Futra P195/70R14 in stock. Spoke with Employee #1 again and informed him that 91344 has the tire, he said ok. Call in the morning and have Erick take care of it.
