The drinks are always good, as is the food if you have time to wait. Anything from the kitchen will take longer than you expect.

That said, who can ask for more than free wi-fi? Just put in the iPod to keep the distractions at bay and you've got a great place to work/study!

Bean town has a spacious interior which is eclectically decorated, and an outside with a beautiful view of the San Gabriel mountains.

You order at the counter and they get your coffee right away, but food can take a very long time (more than half an hour for a sandwich).

If you want a great coffee and want to get away from yet-another Starbucks and relax with the free WiFi or a chat with friends, then this is your place.

I often frequent Bean Town and will drive all the way from Pasadena just to go there. It's my favorite coffee shop because the atmosphere (inside and out) is very mellow. Every staff person at Bean Town is really nice and will always have great recommendations for you if you have no idea what you want. I go to Bean Town for a lot of reasons. 1) It's a good place to write. I put my ipod in and go for hours. 2) they have really good and really affordable drinks. 3)You will always see the most interesting people right around the Bean Town area. The ones with the pets are the best.4) they have live music and support local musicians. I love this place. It's kind of a home away from home.

PROS: great environment, good food and drinks
CONS: sometimes a bit crowded with kids

I'm new to the area and visited this place. First impressions was that it was a little old-fashioned to me. Music they were playing was like carnival / saloon style music. The furniture is old, like an old playhouse kind of feel. I didn't get to try their coffee cause I drank too much at home already but I did order an Italian sandwich. Sandwich was great; very tasty indeed!

The customer service was excellent, cashier greeted me with smile and the server brought my sandwich to me.

In terms of the place, it's roomy with outdoor seating nearby restaurants, Cold Stone, Starbucks, etc. Lots of places to eat. They have outlets for your laptop and the best of all, they have free wi-fi! They also have a desktop here free for use.

Kids just walked in with parents, and let me tell you it's not pretty. They're noisy (both parents and kids) and it's a little distracting. It's not Bean Town's fault. They're located next to a school.

Try this place if you're looking for a place to relax for an afternoon to do some reading or business work. Come before 2:30p or after kids are gone.

PROS: wif-fi, roomy, good food, options, wall plug
CONS: old fashion style, kids & parents

Bean Town (formerly 45 Bean Town due to it's address) is one of those places you can drift away into your own world and relax. Whether you're reading, listening to one of the local jazz bands, or chatting with friends, the atmosphere is fantastic! It is a charming coffee shop with plenty of different types of drinks on the menu for all types people. From the mochas to the lattes, this place is a winner. I've been there many times and only had one bad experience with an employee, however, that employee is not there anymore. It is always clean and you can sit as long as you want and enjoy the people watching in Sierra Madre. Give it some business as large chain coffee stores are nearby, giving it some competition. I love this place and would recommend it to anyone who is just looking for a great place to chill and enjoy they're day.

PROS: Great coffee and atmosphere!
CONS: Might be too far to drive if you're not in Sierra Madre.

I know everyone always raves about their coffee, and for good reason, but this is one of my all-time favorite places to go for sandwiches at lunch time. They are made fresh to order, and are HUGE. I'm partial to their turkey sandwich, but the vegetarian sandwich is good because all of the vegetables are so fresh.

It's also a great place for ice-cream and has a fantastic atmosphere with tables, couches, and board games available.

Just be mindful of the time of day when you go, because during the school year a lot of local school kids come to hang out after school and it gets pretty crowded--especially on Fridays.

PROS: Excellent sandwiches
CONS: After school crowd

I highly recommend this coffee shop. I prefer the flavor of their coffee over Starbucks, plus it is less expensive. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming. There are plenty of couches, tables and chairs, plus outdoor seating. Newspapers and magazines are always available for catching up with the latest while drinking your coffee. This place also boasts of a computer with free internet access, which came in handy once when my home internet service was not allowing an attachment through that I needed. The shop is spacious and not too noisy.

I love this place. It bums me out that they put a Starbucks in about 3 spots down because it steals business from this local gem. They have lots of couches here, some tables, internet access, and amazing drinks and pastries. If you would like to get away from Starbucks and support a local business, go to Bean Town. The drinks are better and they cost less.

A casual and relaxed coffee bar with board games, indoor and outdoor seating, couches, occasional evening music. Stop by in the evening for a cup and to sit and listen to the music or chat with friends.

Bean Town has extraordinary chocolate cake. It is three layers with rich chocolate icing. The cake is rich an always fresh. The slices are so big that it takes someone with a good appetite three sittings to eat. Their ice cream servings are extremely large for a rather cheap price.
