Located in the Japanese enclave on Sawtelle Boulevard, this sushi place is extremely cheap for the quality it offers. The fish is very fresh; it's got a pretty quick product turnover rate. Hide Sushi doesn't deal in huge rolls with puzzling names. Instead, they focus on getting the best fish they can from the table to your hands. The atmosphere is usually raucous and crowded, and they only take cash.

Depending on when you arrive, you may find yourself waiting for 15 minutes to be seated at this affordable sushi restaurant. A plate of sashimi is around nine dollars and the tamago is pretty good. It's a small restaurant but not a place to have a romantic dinner. It's good for groups. Don't forget to bring cash, they don't accept credit cards!

PROS: cheap
CONS: cash only

Great sushi here, but sometimes has its off and on days. I think the sushi gets shipped on certain days, cause sometimes it tastes fresh, sometimes not so fresh.

Hide has extremely high quality fish, and is underpriced for a sushi restaurant of its quality. The only drawback is the line going out the door.

This is really a good place. The sushi is excellent, and it is very reasonably priced. It always seems crowded but that doesn't bother us since we usually do take-out.

Outside of Nozawa and Sasabune, Hide Sushi is easily the best quality sushi I've ever had in LA. Additionally, Hide is also amazingly priced - for two people, we ordered two set sushi meals plus several ala carte orders and the total came out to only slightly more than $30. The only downside to Hide is the ridiculous wait and the fact that it is cash only - if you can get over those two factors, then Hide Sushi is a must try!

The best and freshest spicy scallops at a reasonable price on the west side. It's a small place so it's always crowded and they only take cash. Bring plenty.
