This place is another of the free options at the San Diego Balboa Park. It's got an amazing array of flowers and vegetation. If you're simply looking for a place to stroll and enjoy anothers company, then check this place out. It's got a fantastic atmosphere and the only bad thing is that it closes at 4pm everyday.

The San Diego Botanical Gardens are a great place to see plants, flowers, and trees in a free, indoor setting. The San Diego Botanical Gardens is well organized, divided into sections by types of plants. The plants are well labeled, which enables even casual plant enthusiasts, as well as students to easily identify the plants throughout the garden. The best part about the San Diego Botanical Garden is that you can see many beautiful plants from all different areas, absolutely free of charge. I love the tropical feeling that you get when you enter this place, it makes you feel like you are working into a tropical paradise.

Beautiful, wonderful, pristine, magical -- all words to describe San Diego Bontanical Garden. The best thing about this garden, besides the price? (Free!) The wide array of plants and flowers, including orchids, ferns, palms, and more. I love this garden, because it allows you to take a break from everything happening around you, and just revel in the beauty of nature. I would go here every day if I had the time, and I highly recommend a visit. San Diego Botanical Garden is wonderful, especially to just get away from it all for a little while.

From the outside, it looks like a large over-turned wicker basket in the middle of Balboa Park. Inside it is full of some of the most beautiful, elegant plants and trees (yes, indoor trees) I have ever seen. My favorites were the ferns, while my guests loved the orchids (LOTS of different types). The garden is broken off into sections highlighting different types of plants, including ferns, edible plants and even carniverous ones. All in all, a wonderful and completely free place to stroll and get out of the blazing Southern California sun.

PROS: Did I mention that it was free?
CONS: Only open from 10 AM to 4 PM, and closed on holidays.

It has a complete variety of plants, especially tropical but not exclusively, the inside environment makes you fill in an exotic island, as you walk through in the interior of the Botanical Building. One of the most lushly planted urban parks in America; Balboa Park is a horticultural paradise offering a magnificent backdrop for the cultural attractions. The relaxing atmosphere created by the stately rows of palms, forested lawns, and ever-changing floral displays greatly enhances a visit to the Park. I loved itbesides, its FREE.
