I joined my 3 year old twins just last week and we had our first lesson on Tuesday. I told the instructor that my girls had 0 water training. She put my first daughter in the pool and put her on a kick mat. She LOVED it! BUT, then she proceeded to gather her equipment from 5 ft. away and turned her back on my daughter for more than 2 minutes. I felt the need to get up and move to the side of the pool just so that I could dive in to get my daughter if she happened to fall of the mat and the instructor not see or hear her go under. To turn your back on a child that does not swim for any amount of time goes against everything that I have ever learned about water safety. I picked the private lessons so that my girls would get individual attention for 15 minutes. To me, she should have taken care of everything that need to be taken care of before she came to get my daughter and put her in the water. This school does not give refunds! I have since decided not to take my girls back and eat the balance of the $$ for the last 3 lessons. I do not want one of my girls to be the first to drown during a swimming lesson.

I initally called to find out about the program for my baby. I was told to come in and enroll by a staff member. The swim school is located inside Los Caballeros Country Club. I had a difficult time maneuvering my stroller to find the swim school. As I arrived, the two young ladies were inside. I wanted to enroll and I was told to come back the following week. Plus, I was not assured that I'll have a spot for my baby. Neither acknowledged my presence as their faces were face down. So, we enrolled at elsewhere.

PROS:
CONS: Not stroller friendly, hard to find, lacking in customer service

We enrolled our son in this program for his first swimming lessons. The teacher seemed very nice, and he was put into a group of 4 kids. Unfortunately, the teacher didnt seem to have a lot of experience with teaching swimming or working with kids. Severa times, I had to inform her of my son doing things he wasnt supposed to be doing, which involved him going underwater and swimming around when he couldnt even swim. There just wasnt enough attention, and for all the money we paid for the 6 weeks, he learned nothing.

My little Sara, is 34 months now, she loves to swim & Nova school is what I would recommend to anyone. She has been coming here to this location since she was 18 months. We have had our share of crying in the pool and tantrums. Ginny her instructor has really taken good care of my Sara in the pool and calmed her down and sang to her, played with her and been very patient with her and also was successful in teaching here how to be water safe. Today, my daughter who is not even 3 yet, swims like a fish and loves her swim teacher. The method they use to teach the kids is SMART FISH METHOD, the children are taught to swim-float-swim. Sara swims with comfort, confidence and knowledge of the skill. The pool is always heated, and they also have a back-up pool. I like the school & would recommend it to other people. Reading the other reviews, yes the admin. office staff is not always aways available, sometimes the teacher does get busy but we have to adjust. Nothing is perfect in the real world. So we all have to be positive and open to ups and downs.

Our 4 year old daughter has been to a few swim schools and we like Nova in Fountain Valley the best so far. We like the facilities, the pool is warm and the teachers and method have moved our daughter along nicely in the first six weeks. We have her in 1:1 lessons with Karen (our favorite) and Denise.

To be fair, our daughter is older than the past two years and more eager to learn and we opted for 2 1:1 sessions per week rather than group sessions to maximize the learning time.
