I looooooove this place! I always grab a couple bags of their Cuban crackers. They're sooo addicting. The potato balls are awesome. The Cuban sandwiches are good but I've had better in Miami.

Porto's is great. Their staff is always friendly and their food is awesome! My favortie thing is the Cheese Roll. The flakey crust is so sugary and the cheese filling is buttery and sweet. Best thing there.

Been here numerous times but I only have one thing that bugs me about this place-they use lard. Taste very heavy on me but overall, I give it a four star as their pastries and sandwiches are tasty, delicious and excellent customer service.

Porto's Bakery is a great place to get great deserts and pastries. I highly recommend their fruit tarts, meat pies and potato balls. It may sound pretty plain, but they're really good. I would try to either go there early or at least not during the lunch hour, because there'll be crowds of people waiting in line. But it is definitely worth the wait if you love all kinds of pastries!!! Highly recommended

I am a long time Porto's fan, I don't mind the long drive. However, this year I've had 2 bad experiences.
1) Hard and un-biteable fruit tort crust. I had to drive back the next day to exchange for a different type of cake all together.
2) I bought a cake for my sister's birthday, she is a merengue nut, but when we brought it home we noticed the cake was all bread and a very very thin layer of icing, that in some areas revealed the bread. I am just afraid that the quality is flying out the window !!!

I have been buying baked goods from porto's for ever, even as a child all the cakes for special occasions came from porto's. You can never go wrong with porto's from having a simple lunch to planning a party. Hands down best bakery in LA county, and trust me I eat @ allot of places.

You can't go wrong in ordering the wrong pastry! Everything is great. I don't think I have ever seen this place empty. The sandwiches are terrific, the potato balls are great, and of course all the pastries are delicious. The price for everything is well worth it. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Spectacular cuban cakes. I buy all my special occasion cakes from Portos. The cakes are fresh, delicious and beautifully decorated. We love the fruit cake with Italian meringue and the mini fruit tarts. I arrive at 7:00 a.m. to avoid the crowd. They have a great website.

On the cafe side, my favorite is the pan con lechon cuban sandwich. The moist pork with the fresh bread always hits the spot. Service on both sides is efficient and pragmatic which is fine by me.

Dissapointment. Drove to Pasadena to pickup custom birthday cake, icing was droll and cake was flavorless. Some of the icing fell away revealing a tear in the cake and flour residue.

I found this bakery by accident and noticed that it had a crowd and huge lines. There is a huge selection of desserts and they also serve meals. It was confusing to figure out which line was for what, but the food is very high quality. I always go here to get food for special occassions and parties.

This place isn't my scene but the line says it's most people's. I prefer the Burbank location. Much better parking and the line moves quicker. Still, the food is Porto's so it's good if you like cuban.

The best 3 leches cake. I forgot to order the cake before and called the same day about an hour before I needed it and they were cool about it and said we can only get a plain cake now. Went in there and saw the cake.. It was really nice.

Everything is amazing except the amount of people that are there everytime that I go.

I don't need to talk about this place because it's already famous enough!!!

But I love you Porto's can't wait for you to open in Downey!!!!!

I don't know where to start -- there is so much to love about Portos. The cheese pastry and guava/cheese pastry, their potato balls (like shepard's pie in the round), the pulled pork sandwich, their chicken empanadas, their mango moose...
When you eat here its like you died and went to heaven. Culinary ecstasy.

A tip for parking: bring lots of change for their new parking system.

As good as it is here, there should be someone we can hire to stand in line for us to place orders. This place contains some of the best baked goods yet the people that work there treat customers so poorly and they get away with it. Where else can you get food faster if you speak Spanish? Only at Portos.

I recently ordered a custom cake and favor cookies at Porto's for a baby shower. The prices were reasonable compared to other bakeries. In addition to the great customer service I received, my order was ready within one week. Other bakeries were booked and required custom cake and cookie orders a month in advance. All the guests at the baby shower thought the cuban cake flavor was delicious. Because of the popularity of Porto's there was a slight wait to place an order, but it was worth it!!!

I think that this bakery is really overrated. I had the opportunity to have their cakes and sandwiches couple of times and it is never the best. The way their cake's look - it's pretty nasty. I think people just go there to say they have been there. I don't think there is anything special about the food or service. You can go to any bakery, even Ralphs and get a better looking and tasting cake. there is nothing there that amazes me other than the nasty tasting sandwiches and cakes...

The chorizo pie and the papa rellena (stuffed potato ball) are two of my favorite foods anywhere. And their desert selection is gigantic, and they all look like works of art. I've only had two desserts including the Mango Cheesecake, but it was really good.

Everybody loves Portos and so do I, but in the past year I had three bad experiences. Most recent experience: I ordered a cake and cupcakes for my 25th bday party. When I first placed the order the employee was not nice and not helpful at all. I explained to her in detail as to how I wanted the order done, and still she didnt understand a word i said. I went back just to confirm the order just to be safe, ad sure enough the order was all wrong. I asked for a manager to take my order to avoid any problems or confusions. Now please know that my order was NO COMPLICATED AT ALL!!!! It was a simple plain white 9" cake with white dots and 3 dozens of chocolate cupcakes with white smooth frosting and coconut flakes. On the day of the event, my sister picked up my order and WHY WAS THE ORDER WRONG??!!! The order that THE MANAGER ORDERED for me was a cake with RED DOTS and the cupcakes were WHITE BREAD WITH PINK AND YELLOW FROSTING WITH COCONUT FLAKES! They handed this order to my sister, thinking it would be ok! Now you get my horrible experience? I had to get on the phone w/the manager for 30min to try to get this order fixed. Their excuse was "we dont have chocolate mix anymore"! How can a Bakery run out of chocolate mix? How stupid and ignorant do they think I am! What gives them the RIGHT to change my order and think that its ok? Now like i said this is 1 out 3 experiences that I had and all they do is fix it (4hrs) & say "sorry". I was so dissapointed and still am! Unfortunatly, Portos is advertised and ranked on The Knot magazine, its a shame how the really mess up on some oders and still get that title. They're food is great but their service is really starting to go down hill and they really need to change their staff ASAP!

These are some of the best pastries available, no matter what! The prices are very good, and they have a great variety; sandwiches, breakfast, cakes, pastries, meat pies and potato ball s, and good coffee, as well. Also good is the guava-mango smoothie. Just avoid going during lunch hours and early mornings on the weekend, it is HECTIC!!!

I've been a fan of Porto's for many years now. I love everything that I've ordered from there. The pastries, the breads, sandwiches, cakes, EVERYTHING. However, I am a little disappointed that recently they've changed their fruit tart cakes. Before it used to be filled with only custard. Now they've added a layer of cake and then only a thin layer of custard on top. I can understand that maybe some people thought that there was too much custard before, but for me it was just perfect the way it was before. But everything else is still awesome as usual! I'm just sad that my favorite item is not good for me anymore.

If you live in the Glendale area and enjoy wonderful pastries/cakes/desserts...Porto's is a must-visit-bakery. Even with all the great Armenian bakeries in Glendale, Porto's is still one of my favorites. You'd think that the crowds here would be less since they opened the larger location in Burbank...not a chance! You still have to wait your turn in the line that simulates a queue at Disneyland. They did my mother's 60th birthday cake and it was a wonderfully light lemon cake with whipped cream frosting. I highly recommend Porto's. Stop in and give it a try. Oh...and if you can't find parking on the street, try around back.

My first expierence was ok a very long wait for a very small sandwich they could at least give you a sandwich to get full on it sems like a appetizer, pastries a little dry but just a average place not the best bakery around . Try Kaylas Bakery/Cafe on victory and Tampa now that is a great resturant. The portions are huge plenty of food mmm good try it i guarantee you'll love.

It's a good thing I don't live too close to this place. Their bakery is outstanding. The perpetual crowds at this place should tell you something. Have to recommend: potato ball, meat pies, guava cheese pies, sandwiches, fruit tart, and pretty much any cake they have there. And everything is very reasonably prices (i.e. cheap!). Great place for birthday cakes. They have an excellent staff of decorators who make amazing cakes!

A bakery, cafe, and deli all in one. This Cuban eatery not only serves traditional Cuban foods, like rellinitos and media noche sandwiches, but also carries iced coffee and creme brulee. I have yet to try anything new because I can't get enough of the guava pastries and the traditional Cuban sandwich, the "media noche," filled with ham, melted swiss, and tangy mustard, and fried banana chips on the side, which perfectly complement the dish. However, because of its great-tasting food, the lines are always endless, but don't get put off, the pastries alone are worth the wait. I also hear that Andy Garcia frequents this place :) .

Pros: huge variety

Cons: long lines

.

Good bakery but very high prices - cakes start at $75 and up - but very good. Long lines - ALWAYS. Sandwiches are pretty small and nothing special but good for something different.

Portos is by far one of the best bakeries, Cuban and otherwise. Their rellenos de papa are to die for! I have been places where the rellenos have no flavor, but this is not the place. Also, their sandwiches are delicious! I have been going here for years. I even ordered my wedding cake here and I received tons of compliments on both the appearance and taste of the cake! I drive from the other side of town just to come out here! The tres leches and all their other pastries have been outstanding! You really can't go wrong here whatever you order!

These are some of the best pastries available, no matter what! The prices are very good, and they have a great variety; sandwiches, breakfast, cakes, pastries, and meat pies, and good coffe, as well. Also good is the guava-mango smoothie. Just avoid going during lunch hours and early mornings on the weekend, it is HECTIC!!!

My cousin took me here to pick up her birthday cake. It turns out they got her order wrong, but the "mistake" looked so good, she got that one too!

Actually, these weren't cakes at all. They are 12" tarts. One was pear with marzipan and the other, an apple custard. Both were delicious.

I also decided to get a few treats for breakfast the next morning. The guava and cheese strudel caught my eye (a sticky, sweet and flaky delight), as did the cheese pastry (sweet, crunchy and cheesy) and the Coquitos (dense coconut ball s, covered in a crunchy candy glaze). I also bought some "sprinkle cookies" (light butter cookies with colored sprinkles) and a Florentine cookie (thin, crispy, nutty and chocolaty).

As I went to pay, I noticed a hot counter. I bought deep fried plantains, stuffed with black beans (sweet banana and salty bean flavors melting together) and a potato croquette (spiced meat, covered in potatoes and deep fried, mmmm!).

Everything was delicious! And very reasonably priced. I'm looking forward to my next visit to LA to try new desserts.

Pros: delicious, exotic, well priced pastry, treats and desserts

Cons: noisy, crowded, can be long wait - but worth it.

I love their cheese rolls. It's worth driving there, finding a parking and waiting in line. I recommended that you go 30 minutes before they close. The lines in not long at such time.
