i love this place not only b/c it's in my 'hood, but also b/c they are so friendly there. i know BH cheese probably has bigger selection but they are clear across town and parking is icky. the service here is good and they will let you try many things. there are also olives, gourmet olive oils, charcuterie, foie gras, small bread and crackers selection. weekends sometimes features wine tastings. small parking lot in back. it can get busy aroudn the holidays and weekend nights. don't plan to run in and run out.

Pros: good selection, friendly staff, parking lot

Cons: can be busy with long wait times

I don't know who helped you citygirl_la but I've always been treated quickly and very well by everyone, every time I go in. I've found the staff to be extremely knowledgable and helpful without any attitude. I like getting to try whatever cheeses I want or they recommend until I find what I'm looking for. Sometimes it's crazy busy on the weekends, but with a little patience and a taste of the wine they're pouring it's never a problem. I also love that the store's atmosphere feels a little rustic and European.

Twice I've been in and treated lowly. Shame on them!!
They're a speciality shop for cheese; there is no need for attitude!!

Harry Shearer characterized KCRW as "yuppie sausage", and the previous respondent demonstrates why. No prices on the cheese? Deep breath, step forward, and ask. Most is line-priced, which is to say, the same price. Wine selection poor and pricey? Well, it's assuredly a Two-Buck-Chuck-free zone, not to mention absent sugary Chardonnay and muddy Merlot, but where outside the Wine House in KCRW country are you going to find exceptional Rioja for $7, Chinon for $10, Aligote for $13, et al? The boys behind the counter didn't hold your hand, didn't commend you on your lifestyle choices? Then think of it as training for your debut trip to Europe.

Pros: cheese, wine, non-yuppie saucisson

Cons: bridge, &, tunnel

I had found the store through the KCRW listing. Before getting in, I thought that was going to be a great find. Inside: no price indicated on the cheese, poor wine selection & pricey. The way the cheeses are wrapped is impeccable though (staff seems to have a lot of time on their hands). Not much to say about the 2 gentlemen that are taking care of the store; they don't speak much. Don't expect a warm welcome & a staff promoting their products. I gave my card for a discount, but did not get a receipt w/ the breakdown of my purchases. Also, noticed, afterwards, that the total, after discount, was rounded to the store's favor. Definitely not the ambiance of the cheese store in BH (which offers also a discount for KCRW members).

Pros: Clean, Everything in order, Some good Cheese

Cons: Expensive, No price on cheese, "Cold" staff

Tucked away in the crimson courtyard behind Intelligentsia coffee house is where you'll find this fromage heaven that lends a little Beverly Hills gourmand status to an area known for vintage record stores and distressed T-shirts. But that…
