They were affordable, super prompt and easy to get a hold of. My computer was infected with malware/viruses and they rebuilt the operating system. I appreciated the straightforward pricing and feeling I got from them. I highly recommend!

The wires from the front panel of my case were attached together in a way that would not fit the pins on my motherboard. I couldn't just detach the wires myself, because the plastic tip at the end of the wires were joint together as well. I asked the Geek Squad if they could separate the wires for me and install it on my motherboard. The guy at Geek Squad said, "OH NO! This is not possible you can easily short out your motherboard if you connect a wire to the wrong pin!" I then asked, "Couldn't you just follow the individual wires to the front panel to identify which wire is which?" He then insisted that it was "Too risky!" So I then went to Central Computers and the guy there said that what I'm asking for is possible, but the work is very tedious, so it would be more cost effective to just buy a better case. I finally went to the Bay Area Computerman and the guy there showed me how I could do it myself and the method that he showed me was even easier than the one I had in mind. I have to give props, to their technicians for knowing their stuff.

one word..... AWESOME! im not sure what the one star was for but I have been to many computer places and this one is the tops! Best prices around, exceptionally friendly and accomodating staff! They took their time explaining to me in detail the problem with my computer and how they could fix it. and they did in no time at all!! I took my laptop to geek squad before here and they wante to keep it 2 weeks and charge me a rediculous amount of money, thank god i found this place! The atmosphere is very laid back and friendly, they take care of you like family. I would definately reccommend them to anyone who has pc problems.

Highly Recommended I went to Bay Area Computerman with a dead laptop, I spilled coffee on it and it would not power on. The guys there told me the motherboard had been shorted and there was a good chance that they could fix it. Well they did ffor only $150 - much cheaper that replacing the motherboard for $550.00 or buying a new laptop. They were real nice guys too. Very upfront and honest, refreshing!. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

BEWARE!

Their level of expertise is very limited and could damage your computer as they did to mine.

In April 2011, I asked them to install a back up hard drive and dual graphic cards (cross fire set up).

Outcome: they destroyed a brand new $200 graphics card, told me the back up drive (velociraptor) was broken, and screwed up the BIOS.

When I got home and decided to install the back up drive myself, I discovered they failed to partition the drive before installing-the hard drive works perfect!

The reason why I decided to write this is not so much about their incompetence but their refusal to accept responsibility for their actions.

The tech said he didn't fry the graphics card; however, when I picked up my system, he asked me, "how long have you had your 6850 graphics card for?" It didn't strike me until I got home to find my graphics card dead, why he asked me that particular question. [My other graphics card is a different model number.]

So not only are they incompetent, they lack integrity and accountability.

These guys are the best. They have a great sense of humor and have always been helpful. I haven't had that many issues with my computer because I always have them do a tune-up, just like I do on my car. They were recommended to me by a friend a few years ago. They've always fixed my problems and I even bought a new laptop from them. Thanks Bay Area Computerman!
