Last year, the good used book store in my town closed down, and I was struggling to find somewhere to get my used book fix. A&M Book Cellars was well worth the drive, and definitely stole that empty used-books-store sized spot in my heart. The store is - as far as used book stores are concerned - massive, with books in every direction and corner you look, and it offers a wide range of genres at really good prices. The organization of the store is great, and the bargain room was insane, price-wise (25 cents each, or 5 for a dollar!). I spent more then $10 dollars in the store, earning me a free paperback - I took a rain check, because I'm certain to return.

Amazing bookstore. Friendly staff. Love the sales they have. Easy to find the section you are looking for. Cant wait to go back. If you spend $10, you get a free paperback. Also have free books outside for the taking...

I enjoyed stopping by A&M but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Not enough Art Books, I guess. Someone suggested checking out Oddfellow's Books in Simi Valley which I did... definitely worth the drive.

This may be a great place to shop for used books, but it would be helpful if the owners would post the days of the week they are open and their business hours. This is RATHER BASIC information that a business should provide the public.

It's not much appearance wise, but they have a lot of books. They have mostly paperback fiction, but I was able to find a number of non-fiction books in the bargain room (15 for $2!).

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The gave me the business cards of all of the other used-book stores in the area, and recommended which would likely have the types of books I was looking for.

PROS: helpful staff; good prices
CONS: mostly fiction

This bookstore is one of the largest used book stores that I have ever seen. The books are arranged by category, alphabetically by author. There is also a bargain room-5 for $1. On Wed they have specials. Most of the books are 1/2 off and twice a year they are half off that. They do take books in trade. I have been going there for over 14 years and can still spend a lot of time there. If you bring in a new customer, you get a free book.

Message from A & M Book Cellars

We are sorry to announce that we must close. After almost 26 years of serving our community we are being forced to move out of the area, and so cannot continue to operate the store. A half-price liquidation sale will be in effect until June 26, 2010. Our hours will be 1 to 6 on Sunday and 10 to 7 all other days. A temporary closing from June 27 through July 5 will be followed by a final blowout sale from July 6 through July 17. (some of you will recognize that date as the 26th anniversary of our opening). We have thoroughly enjoyed having you as customers all these years, and deeply regret having to leave. We will never forget the joy that you have brought to us. Thank you one and all!
