Its a very local place and has a crowd that is so unique. This place is very fun to go to for breakfast. We tried the "The Couch" -interesting name if you ask me- But it included pancakes, super spuds, breakfast meats and hot sauce. What a concoction. It was surprisingly good.
I like how comforting this place makes you feel. Almost like a down home restaurant in the countryside.

I like the Pot Holder. This place has a timeless feel to it. Walk in and it could be the 1950s, 60s, 70s, etc. The food is fine for both breakfast and lunch. It's a good comfortable local place.

I moved to Long Beach about 6 months ago and eat at this restaurant about once a month. However on my last trip after I had already eaten half of my Eggs Florentine, I discovered an insect (which this website won't let me mention for some reason) in the sauce, but it's the most awful one you can imagine. The waitress was very apologetic but a manager never came out to talk to us. Needless to say, I can't recommend this restaurant based on this disgusting experience.

Cons: unsanitary

This restraunt is small but draws a serious local crowd. The food is good home cooking--specializing in breakfast. Not recommended for a large group. Seating is limited. Get there early to beat the crowd. Well worth the wait.

Forget Denny's and IHOP...the Potholder is where you should be! Granted sometimes their wait is long, but have you every gone to an IHOP on Sunday after church is out? Talk about a long wait! Their food is excellent (I have friends from out of town WHO RAVE ABOUT IT and want to go back every time they come) and very, very reasonable in price. Love the potatoes. Love their hazelnut coffee and I don't drink coffee! Love all the variety in omelets. Since they are located on a busy street sometimes parking is a problem, but if wait until after 10am I have found that there is no wait and parking is easy to find and besides I know we all need a little extra exercise anyway :) Just think of it as a way to build up your appetite!

Pros: Food, Coffee, Staff

Cons: Parking (sometimes)

The Potholder is a delightful cafe to grab an early breakfast or late brunch. I ordered a short stack of blueberry & banana nut cakes and they were superb. The hazelnut coffee is plentiful and perfectly perky. The chocolate coffee creamer is an added bonus. The staff is young and attentive and their energy adds a hipster vibe to the place. The place would be truly rocking if they could keep the pot open in the evenings for those who crave breakfast 24/7 (hours of op are 7a-4p).

Pros: coffee, cakes, service with a smile

Cons: only breakfast

The wait can be long, but the food and atmosphere is good. Great coffee in big cups. The inside is a rambling maze of rooms. Try the omelette with cream cheese and Worchestershire sauce--it's my favorite. Be sure to get your name on the clipboard when you arrive. On very busy days, they serve coffee outside so you can survive long enough to get to your table.

Pros: good food, coffee while you wait

Cons: sometimes a long wait, overly-hip customers

Was introduced to this little place by a friend who has been eating here for years, everytime she's in LA she comes back for a breakfast. The food was GREAT!! And so is the coffee. Great atmosphere - loved all the pictures of their customers around the world holding signs bearing the name of the restaurant.

Excellent food, and it's only Breakfast. The Potholder has neat little pictures of places where clients have been and all of them have 'eat at the potholder'. Get there early or you'll be waiting outside with everyone else.
