I used to work at Shining Star for number of years until my two girls graduated. Before working for this school, my two girls were attending here at Shining Star. I always picked up my children late after school hours due to bad traffic; Ms. Ming & Ms. Olivia were always there to take care of my children until my husband picked them up. After experiencing many trouble in the traffic, I applied the office assistance job at Shining Star in order to be close to my children. During the time working with Shining Star, I was asked to purchase some class materials & snacks for the school kids. Whenever I turned in the receipts of purchased, I always get my every single dime back.

SO, I dont understand where the NEGATIVE comments come from??? Hm!

Please notes that I am not relate to any one of Shining Star. The only close relationship that we have with Shining is the care that they provided to my kids.

Smile ;-)

Thank you Shining Star Pre-school for the great experience! I would like to thank the pre-school staff for putting their effort and time on my children. They have learned a lot within the past year. I especially appreciate their annual graduation and Christmas performances which builds my children's confidence. The staff is very professional and caring to all the students. Thank you very much Shining Star Pre-school!

I am a teacher myself (high school). My daughter and son both go to Shining Star Preschool. Every time they come back from school, I talk to Rachel and Max about how they've spent their day and what they've learned. I've been pleasantly surprised at their progress, especially Max's. He always likes proving to me how he knows all his colors, etc. I'm delighted as to how well he expresses himself now. I have no complaints about their school meals. I'm particularly careful about these things since Rachel is allergic to some foods..All their meals are nutritious and well-thought-out. I strongly recommend this preschool.

I don't understand the negative reviews at all. They might be written by competitors? I have three children (two who have gone on to public school and one who still attends Shining Star). My boys were always so hyper, and couldn't sit still for longer than a minute. After sending them to Shining Star, I was amazed at their change. They became a whole lot more well-behaved because this preschool taught them to like schoolwork. Can you believe they called their homework fun? The administrators are so nice and friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile. Also, the facilities are extremely clean!!

As a parent and teacher I would honestly never recomend this school for any child. It is by far the worst place to ever put your child...The Directors could care less about the children, parents or their staff the only thing they care about is the money they make off the children being there. I feel bad for the children and some of teachers that do care because of how bad the food and snacks are, how dirty the beds, toys, restrooms and cubbies are. The owners seem nice aand honest but are not in any way...

I have a feeling the people that rated this school a 4 or 5 stars are either the owners or the relatives of the owners. As a parent experienced it myself, and also heard few other parents' complaints about the school, I am so glad I pulled my child out of the school after a few weeks. She was so unhappy there. It is not a nurturing environment for the children. Teachers and administrators yell and even spank the kids. Like the other reviewers said, I am really surprised they are in business.

i absolutely agree with the last review. We should congratulate the teachers that work there because they do a tremendously good job teaching our children. And yes, the teachers use their OWN money out of their own pocket to provide for class materials, toys and other class necessities. Parents, paying for the material fee is not worth it at all. It's just a way for the principal to take money from us so they could use it towards lavish trips like cruises and tours overseas. In fact, they go on these trips every other month while they don't even pay their teachers well. And yes, the paper towels that are DONATED are being cut in half and the principal makes sure that each child after they wash their hands only take ONE half-cut paper towel. The crayons? The children have to share it. What happens if your folder rips? Too bad, your child doesn't get a new one. I mean the material fees isn't even worth what our children get and I'm surprised they continue to higher the material and tuition fee when us parents are working so hard to pay it off while they sit in the office and play on their new laptops. That's not even the bad part. The worst part is lunch. They say it's "free"....it's a private school...you would think they would have decent food right? Wrong. They give our child leftovers from the day before. Downright disgusting. And the children have to eat it because there's nothing else for them to eat so yes, if your child is coming home hungry from this school it's probably because the food was leftover or because they only get 2 crackers as a snack or because they only get 2 slices of fruit. Is this what we pay hundreds of dollars for parents? The administration meaning Mrs. Ming and Ms. Olivia are two of the stingy and greedy owners I have ever met. Yes, they care about our kids, but they care about the money that's going into their bank account more. They treat their staff with no respect when we all know that without the teachers Shining Star wouldn't even exist. I'm surprised License hasn't fined them yet alone shut down their business.

The TEACHERS are great. They work hard and put in alot of their OWN money to provide things for the class. Your material fee is not being used for any materials, other than toilet paper; and half a paper towel the teachers have to cut in half. Have you seen any great art work being brought home? Other than the art classes you have to pay for? They use recycled paper for homework?? what is up with that? lunch trays, left over food the next day. Is your child going home hungry? That is because they get two thin slices of fruit for snack....not half, but a slice of a slice! The teachers spend their money to provide extra. The administration is a joke. Has anyone dealt with them before? They don't treat their staff with any gratitude what so ever. The teachers are the ones who put the shows together! Give them the credit they deserve.

The other reviews all seem to come from people who are biased or from people that don't know very much about the preschool. The preschool does offer Chinese classes (which I think are excellent), but the student population is quite diverse. The teachers are too! I know for a fact that quite a few of them are fluent in other languages (e.g. Spanish). The offices and classrooms are clean and modern, so I didn't understand the previous comment. My kid completed the program at Shining Star Preschool, and is now attending elementary school. His teacher has repeatedly complimented me on how advanced he is academically, and how well-behaved he is. I am not writing to brag, but instead to compliment Shining Star on the time and care they devote to their students. I was very pleased with the qualified staff, and would strong recommend this preschool!

Pros: Structured Program, Caring Teachers,DedicatedAdministrators

Cons: Great Preschool; Not Perfect, but Great!

I find that the teachers in the school are very nice and educated to know what they are doing. The administrators are helpful and the school seem to love the kids.

Actually, Shining Star pres-school is not at the level you guys have been talking about. 2 of my 3 children in fact, even skipped 1st grade due to their great teachers and curriculum. Not only is the staff well rounded and loving, the office knows each and every students and care for each one. So i do not understand how the other reviews make this place sound so horrible, these are one of the better pre-schools in the San Gabriel valley.

I agree all they care about is money they don't even have materials that are planned out, they lack materials, especially school materials, also would not recommend because their courses do not seem to be developmentally appropriate it is always random things that they think up, and that would be the activity until they think up another random activity, no they are not a good deal, with the same amount, there are way better schools and programs out there, no i would definitely not recommend them

I worked at Shining Star for a few years and it's the pits.
The owners are stingy and all they care about is money. Whenever students are enrolling in the school, first thing they talk about is the $50 dollar material fee. Material fee? What material fee? I never got a dime. Teachers had to use their own money to purchase materials, snacks, etc.
There are so many other reasons not to enroll your child in Shining Star but not enough time to list them. So don't do it!
Hope this helps...
