Our goal is for every client to leave feeling happy and confident with their new look. In addition to fabulous color however, it is equally important to protect the integrity of the hair so it will always look it's absolute best. Therefore, if our Color Specialists question the ability for the hair to withstand the request, we will be perfectly honest and elect not to compromise the condition of the hair, rather we will suggest what is possible and meet in the middle so you are equally as happy.
My friend told me about how great Maxfield's Hair Salon was so I decided to go there. I was so impressed and happy with how my hair look. They did a great job with the coloring and cutting.

I have a rave referral for anyone looking for a hair
stylist who can cut and color with equal brilliance - Wendi Adams of Maxfield's Hair Color Studio in Studio City. She is just amazing...
I met Wendi when I had a hair color disaster from another hair stylist who was supposed to give me buttery highlights, and my hair came out yellow straw like Woodstock from the Peanuts. I thought Wendi would have to shave it all off and start over, but by the time she was done with me, I had a soft, buttery highlighted hair again and a GREAT cut - she can give a blow-out like no one else I know. My hair always looks so amazing that people comment upon the color/cut even as it grows out. And no, I don't get a kickback for this rave or anything ;-) she's just so good I wanted to spread the word. I've referred other friends to her and they've become devotees, too.
She does a lot of celebrities, does photo shoots and preps hair for red carpet events - she does a lot of "Oscar hair." OK Magazine named Maxfield's as an L.A. hot pick. I can't recommend Wendi and Maxfield's highly enough - they can cut, color and blow-dry with equal brilliance! AND they listen to what the client wants. Just go once, and you'll see what I mean.
Pros: Expert at so many things, friendly, warm atmosphere
Cons: Can't even think of one!

Wendy is absolutely amazing at what she does. She truly cares about quality, and making her clients happy. She is a master at color, color correction and protein bond extensions. If your hair is a dry or brittle, she offers an Ionic hair treatment that actually REPAIRS the hair. Her intimate studio at the Chess and Burman salons in Studio City, is welcoming and very private. I suffered for many years trying to find someone like her. I'm happy, and lucky to have found someone I can trust, and depend on. She never fails me!
Pros: free covered garage parking
Cons: n/a

O.k., I work as a private sub-contractor for a secret shopping firm and we recently screened a number of hair salons, skin care professionals and day spas over the first 2 quarters of 2008 for the Ventura Boulevard area. Here is what we concluded for hair stylists/colorists. The best cutting and color team is Wendy Adams and Solina Tabrizi of Maxfield's which is actually located inside Chess & Burman Salons in Studio City, CA. Both have had their work published and do various celebrities as well as film, music and television work, though we found them to be rather professionally humble, discreet and protective of their celeb clientele. Nevertheless, their work is superb! Both have worked as a team in the L.A. area for many years and deserve all the accolades for their professionalism and their talents they've received and then some. Solina is noted as one of our top 5 cutters ever reviewed and Wendy was considered in our top 3 colorists for all of southern California!!!!! Highly recommended. Very professional, yet friendly and inviting. For those of you who have been to Chess & Burman, please note Wendy and Solina have a larger studio than most and have created a very comfortable yet professional setting. They will do whatever they can to attend to your needs from ordering lunch in, loading up a movie in the flat screen or just simply letting you have quiet reading time.....it truly is the client's choice. In addition there is no feeling of rush or arrogance like many salons seem to project. We had 3 secret shoppers attend on seperate visits and all concurred Wendy and Solina were their TOP CHOICE! and that's rare. Also, great parking, evening appointments, available for photo shoots, film, television, music video, and print work. WARNING advance bookings usually required as they are very busy.
Pros: great parking, evening appointments available, excellent service and beautiful work
Cons: advance booking required, no walk-ins

I am new in town and know nothing about it as I am here on a 2 year business contract. I didn't know where to go and since I travel all the time, I am used to contacting the Concierge at the hotels I stay in for recommendations, so I called the Concierge at the Hilton Universal. They highly recommended Wendy at Maxfield's in Chess & Burman. First off...this place is different! I recently moved here from Atlanta where most high end salons are in store fronts or Peachtree District Homes....this place was a private studio among several others and I loved it! MOST IMPORTANTLY I got the best haircut I have ever had! Seriously, I have paid upwards of $150 for haircuts in New York and Miami and never was as happy as I am with this short and sassy summer look for a fraction of that - I can go from messy funky to sophisticated and edgy business woman in 15 minutes. I made an appointment for color in 2 weeks and based on what I saw on other clients while I was there, I am really looking forward to it, 2 great blondes were leaving as I was coming in.....very excited for my color appointment....I'll write again after my next visit! thanx again
Pros: great haircut, good price, nice stylists
Cons: advance booking required

I have been growing my hair for a long time and finally decided I needed a change so I went to Wendy and we decided on adding layers and doing some gray coverage with a few hilights. I have been hesitant about doing anything becauase of the maintenance snd Wendy really took that in to consideration. Wow what a difference! not so much a drastic change but just covering those grays and giving my hair layers brought out my natural wave and it's super easy. I love the hi lights too....not too much just right - I've already booked my next 2 appointments for August and September! thanx again ....happy hair days yaaaaaay!
Pros: great private studio and ambiance, lots of free parking, price very worth it!
Cons: need to book in advance

What a relief ! I found a stylist that can color long hair. I have been seeing stylists 2 to 3 times max, before I end up going elsewhere. This is the first time I have had a stylist actually do exactly what I wanted the first visit. Color has been my problem everytime till now. Wendy, all I have to say is thank you, thank you, thank you, my highlights look great, I'll be back in March :)
Pros: parking, late hours, private

I am so happy I found Wendy again. I moved away for work in the Sant Fe area and have had so many unhappy hair-mishaps, I thought it was never going to get better. Fortunately I am back in L.A. and was able to see Wendy at the new location! Thank you for fixing my mess :) By the way the free parking is a big bonus and love the private setting - most of all my hair was rescued....no more orange blotchy streaks! as usual you're the only hair colorist I can ever trust!
Pros: great stylist, price and hours, parking
Cons: busy book in advance

I stopped going to Maxfield's because my color and highlights were subpar. They refused to use the base color that I wanted (a light brown) and changed it without telling me (to almost black). I had a Heather Locklear look going on, which was not attractive (we didn't do highlights every appointment, so I'd have light highlights and black roots). To top it off, my highlights were very blotchy and a bit brassy.
My cut was average. It was often too heavy.
Pros: Night appointments
Cons: Bad color

I desperately needed my hair fixed after getting a lousy cut from my old stylist. Seems like all of my friends were between stylists so I started calling around for prices and availability. My timing was perfect and I could be seen immediately. I love my cut and would go back there in a heartbeat
Pros: Friendly, Skill, Attentive

The atmosphere may not be ultra hip and a drive to the valley is a bit out of my way ... nonetheless, a visit to Marco is worth the inconvenience. I've lived in Los Angeles for almost 4 years now and he's the best stylist I've found.

I have been searching for a colorist since I moved here from NY (2years ago) - I've been to Beverly Hills, the Valley and Hollywood. I've never been satisfied until now. The Colorist (Wendi) took a great deal of time with me and discussed all options, and consequently corrected the mess I had from the last Beverly hills salon I tried (for a little more than 1/2 the price). In addition she suggested something called Ionic Treatment which actually repaired my abused hair in one treatment! Plus I got the part on the show I auditioned for the next day - double bonus! I love it & I will definitely be a staple client.
Pros: nice ambiance, location, moderate prices
Cons: , valet a little slow

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience here. Stylists sometimes make mistakes-I can live with that-but not when they send you out of the salon telling you it looks good. When I got home I inspected my hair and it was awful! The highlights were blotchy- poor application caused bleed marks throughout my entire color. The color was extremely brassy, and to top it off, my hair is very damaged now. My hair at my crown is breaking off. I don't want to go back and get it fixed there in fear that it will just get worse. Please consider this information before choosing this salon.
Pros: Good location, clean

I went to Wendi for the first time this weekend to get a color and cut. I could not be happier with the way it all turned out. This was my first time getting color in a salon. It looks really natural and my cut is cute too :). I will go back for sure when my hair is ready for a touch up...
Pros: Nice friendly Staff
