Ratings_icons UNFRESH FISH!!!

Last dining experience was horrible and memorable. They served old halibut sashimi that went sour minutes after they served it. The service there are also mediocre. Wouldn't recommend.

The food was decent and the servers were of good service. The manager wasn't too friendly though. He didn't seem to care much about the problem with my food.

Ratings_icons Decent Japanese restaurant

tadakimi t. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,281

If you're on a budget and looking for a decent Japanese restaurant, this may be the place to go. It's "decent" because of the service and the food. I've never been completely satisfied with the service here. There isn't a designated server for your table so you get a few different people come up to you asking the same questions. The quality of the food isn't the best I've had either. However the good thing about this place is that it has great sushi deals if you dine in. I was surprised at the end when my bill was $20 less than i expected.
I wouldn't really recommend this place for a person who want's quality.

PROS: Great Sushi deals
CONS: Quality, service

this place doesnt have the very best sushi, but it's not too bad either. I went here with my boyfriend for dinner and it was pretty crowded. The wait didnt take that long though. We were seated sort of in the back where not much waitresses pass through, so it took awhile for us to get our refills of water and our check. Besides that, i think i would go back again.

Ratings_icons Decent sushi with a few stellar dishes

Anthony C. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,789

My girlfiend and I go out for sushi about once a week, and there are times when we just don't want to spend too much. Kabuki is a good place to go for 3-4 star sushi without having to break the bank. They offer half-priced sushi for just about all the hours they're open, which is great is all you want is sushi. They do half some excellent non-sushi offerings as well. We almost always get the Seared Albacore Salad. The Miso Marinated Black Cod is also quite delicious. If you want world class, melt in your mouth, fresh as can be sushi, you might want to hop on over to Studio City or West L.A. But for good sushi at a moderate price with a good choice of delicious entrees, Kabuki is a great choice.

PROS: Pretty waitresses, 1/2 priced sushi, a few delicious gourmet dishes
CONS: very busy during dinner times

Kabuki is a sushi restaurant located in Pasadena. They serve sushi, seafood, sashimi (raw fish, not for everybody), and other popular Japanese cuisine. The sushi is good and they have a wide range of sushi. They have special deals such as half off for lunch on certain days and times. They also have a dessert menu that includes tempura green tea ice cream, which is fried green tea ice cream. It is delicious and something different.

Ratings_icons Great sushi dinning experience

If you love sushi, then you're going to love Kabuki! Kabuki is located just North of the 210 freeway. You can either sit at the sushi bar or a booth. They also have private rooms in the back for larger parties. They offer a large variety of sushi favorites. They offer a 1/2 price menu when you order two or more orders per person. The prices are unreal here and the food is also. The atmosphere is very cultural and the people are friendly. It's not a large restaurant and so if you go on certain nights you will probably have to wait, but it's well worth it! It's also next to a movie theatre and so you can make a night out of it with dinner and a movie.

Kabuki offers the absolute best selection of Japanese food you will ever see. Their Sushi is so fresh, that it tastes like they just caught it. No matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. Their "Love Boats" for two are perfect for you andyour date. They have great terriyaki, shrimp tempura and many other delicious items. Give them a try.

Check this. Sure Kabuki is a chain (which should be an immediate red flag for most astute culinary critiques) but THE SUSHI IS 50% OFF AND IT IS PRETTY GOOD. When ever I go to ethnic restaurants I always look at the ethnicity of the patrons, and I generally like to see some correlation. This is very true at Kabuki and is what made me try it in the first place. Sushi is great and the price is even better...

Hands down the best sushi in town. Everyday lunch special is 50% off rolls and during dinner rolls are 50% off if you order 3 or more per person. The menu offers a large selection of sushi, both raw and cooked, as well as other traditional Japanese dishes. It's a great place for families or dates and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive.

Kabuki is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Pasadena. Always friendly, prompt and attentive to customers.

Whether at a booth or at the bar, the atmosphere is comfortable and service consistently positive.

This place has decently priced sushi, but I don't remember thinking it was anything special for sushi. The atmosphere is a bit dark but very spacious. You usually can get seated fairly quickly, and the menu is pretty comprehensive. They've got someinteresting menu items, including a seafood salad with octopus, but if you're in the mood for cheap sushi, this is a good one. It's also conveniently located near lots of shops on Foothill.

It's always busy for a reason!!! Good sushi for a great price. Went on a weeknight and ended up waiting 30 minutes for a table...but for the 1/2 price sushi...its well worth the wait. The place is pretty casual with several televisions around the resturant so you can sit...have sushi and watch a game. Beats the regular happy hour!

We've been going here for years and it keeps getting better. They have always offered the 1/2 price sushi. The fish is always fresh. They have a great california roll with baby lobster on it served with ponzu sauce, but that one is not 1/2 price. They have other things to choose from for those who aren't into raw fish. I love their house salad and the saki is good too.
