As a former employee of this god forsaken place, I too wonder how they are still able to operate along with the big boys. But as another reviewer said, they have entered into an unbreakable relationship with their bank accounts. This place is sooooo unethical that it is funny. From the top to the very bottom, this place reeks of people who don't really care and who just want to make a buck. They treat their staff as though they have no other choice but to be employed by this place and they are simply doing them a favor. As for the clients, they could really care less. Get on the bus, get your meal ticket and go to sleep so that we may collect that $18 dollars LAHSA funding provides us. This place is unsanitary and filthy most of the time and the staff has NO respect for the people that come in here on a daily basis. They are there to get paid not be compassionate to the situation of those there. To say this place makes my skin crawl would be a major understatement.

as a former employee of skid row i can tell you that of every person that walked in our doors on san julian between 6th and 7th every single one of them that could speak english would tell us of how absolutely sickening the new image shelter was and of how the staff, (if you want to call them that,) was just adding fuel to the already uncontrollable fire that is the new image shelter. their lack of judgment and desire to be feared instead of respected has turned them into the prison tower watchmen. most of them from personal experience with an itchy trigger finger. their treatment of the common undocumented immigrant would stem from the nazi encampment of the jews. the rest of those people who need friendship are herded into stinking buses and quickly forgotton. out of sight out of mind. then at 7am there they were waiting for me to open the door. were is the compassion our lord teached. why this place is still operating next to the other big boys on the block, (u.r.mission, l.a. mission, midnight mission) is a mystery even to the two supposed persons in charge. lets just say they have now entered into a covenant with their bank accounts. i wish this world would really take a look at what this world is. i tried but i myself was run out of skid row because i wanted to help. i was run out not by the people i tried to help but by the people who were paying me to help. it would really be nice to see a change but i hate to be the bearer of bad news, it wont happen, not now, not later. do the best you can do and try to avoid the whole subject. also while your at it learn to live with the shame and guilt of the fact that you never tried to help.

They take you on a bus away from the craziness on skid row. Then dinner and a shower if you want. Have to get up early in the morning and get back on the bus though.

Being on the streets isn't easy. Yet, some folks will take you in. If you're lucky enough to get on the bus to New Image, there's a cot with a clean blanket , dinner, breakfast, bathrooms, and no praying required. One of the staff approached me the first time I was there and showed me the drill. Now I have an intake card and when I need a place, I get in line for the bus!
