Video Journeys has a fantastic selection of your popular blockbuster hit to the obscure foreign film that other video stores wouldn't even know to carry. Top that with a knowledgable staff that loves and knows movies as much as its customers. I particularly like the 2-for-1 Tuesdays and Thursdays for my frugal movie budget.
PROS:
CONS: There are no week rentals, but each rental gets you two nights.

Great inventory but movie DVDs are movie DVDs, no matter where I rent them. It's employees like these that make the whole renting process worth the trip. Helpful, knowledgeable, and happy to go out of their way to find what I'm looking for make this my answer to the impersonal chains.
In a town that worships movies, this is the only video store to pay proper tribute. They have every foreign and indie film you can imagine, an amazing selection of TV episodics, and a great staff. This is a store where you can just go, tell them what you like, and the staff can always recommend a great movie for you. There is a Blockbuster across the street, and I have no idea how it stays in business; I can't imagine anyone going to Blockbuster when they have the choice to go here.

Cons: Closes too early
this is the anti-blockbuster. from best films of every year, to categorized films by genre, director, actor, to cult films, foreign films and even cult tv shows, like 'the prisoner.' an awesome store with informed staff.
