Reviews for Pancho's Restaurant

Ratings_icons Great Atmosphere and good food

Panchos is an upscale Mexican restaurant. They have Valet parking, but that's only because it's so hard to find parking in MB. I think the food is very authentic and flavorful. I particularly like the bacon wrapped shrimp. This is a really large restaurant, with 2 levels. They also have a large Cantina that sometime has bands.

I am amazed at how popular this Manhattan Beach hangout is! The "Mexican" food is mediocre, but I suppose the size of the venue, along with valet (which is nice in an area of VERY sparse parking) and the atmosphere of Pancho's must make up for the lacking food. Go there for a good margarita, but personally I'd skip the cuisine!

The bar and music make this a great happy-hour gathering. The margaritas are a bit on the $$$$ side but well worth it. The Food is decent but the atmosphire makes up for whatever the food lacks.

I have only been here once so far, but am going back tomorrow with a friend because I enjoyed it so much. My waiter was excellent and personable. The food was authentic and better than I have had in a very long time. To top it all off, the margarita's were tasty and if I hadn't had to get myself home, I would have stayed a lot longer and had a few more. The atmosphere is great! There is a patio with two levels. One is kind of like a balcony and the other is below with tall trees reaching up to the balcony. It makes you feel as though you are somewhere else and not in the crowded LA area.

Ratings_icons Fiesta Time!

ieatz

Love the atmosphere and great for parties. Went to a birthday party there and had a super time, got there early and watched the game in the bar area, music on selected nights. Food is average and great for groups. Service is OK, the place gets really crowded. Great that they have their own valet parking, hard to find parking around there.

Pros: Great for parties, valet parking

Cons: large crowds and loud, service can be slow

Ratings_icons Mixed review on my visit

scottc4746

I have to say the portions are Tejas (Spanish for Texas) size. Do not think you can have your own appy AND your own dinner. The dinner was plenty. We arrived around 6 - 615 and were seated promptly on a Thursday. Margys are WAY expensive...$10.95 for a standard no frills. For three adults, no apps or desert and one margy each it was around $80. Too many unrully screaming children here.

Pros: Big portions, great quality.

Cons: Valet only, screaming kids, EXPENSIVE DRINKS!

Ratings_icons Beware of the Naughty Mags!

jnrcal

Don't say I didn't warn you, the Naughty Mags are awesome but strong! The food at Panchos is great, but overpriced. The bar is always packed and there is usually a wait to get a table. Definitely try to make reservations or be ready to wait it out with a Naughty Mag...

Pros: Food, Drinks

Cons: Wait

Ratings_icons Best Mexican Food in the South Bay

jwcherry

Great food, great margaritas, great location! What else do you need? On top of this, we occassionally get coupons for one free entree which also turns it into a great bargain.

Pros: Food, Margaritas

Cons: None

These are the best margaritas in all of Southern California. Their Fish Enchiladas are excellent with huge portions. Service is great as well.

Ratings_icons Mole Mole!

If you are looking for an authentic experience, with authentic food, than Pancho's is the place to go. The old world feeling when you walk in makes it feel like you are stepping into a little piece of Mexico, if you can, try to sit in the back garden. Without a doubt they have the best Mole in Los Angeles. Not to mention the margaritas are to die for. The Cantina has several large, nice HD TV's that are great for watching sports and hanging out. A place not to miss!

Ratings_icons Authentic Food & Excellent Margaritas!

ggerrity

Two weeks ago I took my parents and fiance to Panchos on a Friday night. It was busy but with reservations we were seated within 15 minutes. The margaritas are amazing, truly worth their weight in gold. Overall, I enjoyed all the food but the ceviche appetizer was really unique. Also, the staff were friendly and accomodating. I can't wait to return!

Pros: Ambience

Cons: A little loud

Ratings_icons Always a treat

freshlife

Panchos is great spot to go with basically anyone. Great for a party with a huge group to a first date. The ambiance of this place feel really authentic. It's full of Mexican and American antiques including the two front doors taken from a castle in Spain. Try the Enchiladas Suizas with fresh avocados on top, the are SO good! The waiters are great too, they don't cycle though a million waiters so if you go there enough you will get to know all of them

My husband and I stopped by for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Mole was delicious! Prices are expensive but portions are HUGE. We split our entree and still had some left over for lunch. Service was good. Parking was bad! They do have valet. We didn't have drinks so I can't rate the margaritas. Overall, we were impressed.

Pros: service and food

Cons: parking and price

Ratings_icons Manhattan Beach staple

susan32

This place is great for a large group or for entertaining out-of-town guests. The margaritas are good and strong; the waitstaff is attentive and authentic - some of the servers have been there for more than 20 years! Two drawbacks: the place gets packed (read: loud) almost every night and, while portions are large, the menu is a bit overpriced. It's Mexican - not French food!

We love Pancho's - no question we'll be back. Ask to sit downstairs in the open "patio" area.

Pros: Margaritas, Excellent service, Yummy fajitas

Ratings_icons Very large Mexican restaurant

DanFazio_Citysearch

This cavernous restaurant is only a few blocks up from the water in Manhattan Beach. The inside has sort of a tropical theme to it. During my meal, I kept hearing rock songs like "Patience" and "Crocodile Rock" very faintly (I was in the downstairs section), only to realize later that they were coming from the karaoke bar. A pretty fun if slightly spendy place.

Pancho's is solid ( good margaritas, large menu, good food, fun atmosphere)...but can be pricey for what you get.

Pros: good atmosphere, good margaritas, valet parking
