Good deal

by Jonathan L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,581

The sushi is really good, especially the lunch specials. They're really worth your buck! They've just changed their menu, so they have all sorts of maki-sushi and sashimi.

Lunch time is usually crowded (since it's a pretty good deal). You can sit at the bar for the sushi, or sit at a table to order other items.

They also have a small secluded area for large employee groups.

Fun Neighborhood Restaurant

by Susan W. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,226

Sushi Boat Town is located in the same mall as Nob Hill Foods at the intersection of Chantilly Lane and Santa Teresa BLVD, near Bernal RD in San Jose. I don't remember ever having to wait long for a table, but have noticed that's not the case on busy nights for people who want to sit at the sushi boat bar.

Their menu is varied and reasonably priced. There's always something to also appeal to people who are not fond of sushi. I've ordered from both the menu and sushi bar and am never disappointed.

Their friendly service, can be somewhat sporadic, at times, probably due to the large variety of menu items and different preparation times involved. Staff in front are quick to greet newcomers and also farewells to departing patrons.

Expect to rarely receive the appetizer before your main course. I don't understand why this seems to be the norm, but in all the time we've gone there, it has come to be a running joke. It would be nice to be informed if there's going to be a delay. Sometimes they forget to bring it at all.

The lighting in the restaurant is the brightest I've ever encountered in a restaurant, so I usually like wearing sunglasses to help tone it down a bit. The television above the bar gives the place more of a neighborhood "bar" feeling and seems somewhat out of place. Personally, I prefer the booth seating over the tables due to the high traffic that's coming and going from the kitchen.

I recommend this place for everyday dining or very small gatherings on special occasions.

Great food, great price, good service

by Jennifer Z. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,169

the food is fresh and the presentation is fantastic the staff is eager to take your order and the drink are bottomless, however, when they are busy the organization is questionable and there is no register so you have to wait for them to get to you

Sushi Boat Town

by Shenita M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 723

Great place for lunch. Love thier bento boxes. I am not really a big sushi fan so their chicken teriyaki is a favorite. Prices are reasonable as well. Must try their fried crab appetizer dish which is my kids favorite as well.
