Reviews for Bahooka Ribs & Grog

Ratings_icons Been driving by for years, so glad to finally go in to Bahooka!

Yes, it looks a bit seedy on the outside but if you are nostalgic about tiki places and expect to get an old fashioned, not stylish meal, it is just terrific.I am super fussy, and it was clean enough for me even though it is old.The menu is a bit limited, and a bit pricey for lunch, but I cannot wait to return.I think I made the best choice ordering the French dip, both husband and son were wanting mine.I wish they would offer the salads at half portion at half the price, the shrimp Louie looked delicious and would have been fantastic with their thousand island dressing.

If you like the Tiki room at Disneyland, you will appreciate Bahooka. Our six year old was thrilled with the aquariums all around our table...enjoy.

This place has a nice atmosphere, but the food is mediocre. The price is through the roof also. I have only eaten here once and I do not care to return.

Ratings_icons Go to see the fish tanks ..... but that's it

Maybe I just had a bad experience here, but I have to tell you; the food here was horrendous. Combine that with overpriced, over-sweetened drinks; and you have a pretty uneventful evening.

Went there for the 1st time recently in a large group for my boyfriend's cousin's bday. They hadn't been there since they were kids. They didn't remember how the food tasted but always remembered how fun and unique the inside looked with it's various aquariums and undersea decor. The food was a disappointment to all of us. All the dressings there were sweet! There was no choice of salad dressing, only their house dressing which was sweet. One of us ordered a sampler platter and couldn't find a single sauce that was good for dipping...so she saved the food to take home where she had normal tasting condiments to eat it with. The marinara sauce, mustard sauce, tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were all sweet. My boyfriend and I ordered the steak and shrimp with veggies and the steak and veggies were pretty good aside from the fact there there was nothing good to dip the fried shrimp into so I didn't eat them. The inside is good to entertain young children but none of us liked the food. For the same price, there are lots of VERY good restaurants that we all wished we went to instead. The service was pretty good but the sauces all need to go.

I love Bahooka. Partly because it's just fun to say "bahooka" party because they use the word GROG in their title but mostly becuase it is so damn weird. I read about it in LA Bizzaro (an excellent book for newbies and oldies alike) and just had to go. BRG does NOT disappoint. There have got to be 150 fishtaks in there. Bunches surrounding every table. You really feel like you are underwater. The best tank has a gigundo fish in it who eats carrots. I kid you not. They have drinks the size of koi ponds that they'll light on fire for you which is good coz it's really dark in there. The food is only okay, but honestly-- with an atmosphere like this-- who cares?

Ratings_icons The last of the great tikis

This place should be a landmark. The food is good-I've had lobster, crab puffs, various fish & chicken-but I don't recommend it for the food as much as the atmosphere. There are fish tanks everywhere, dim lights, boats, and all sorts of sea and tiki themed objects hanging from the ceiling.
Most dishes are priced like a coffee shop. Party facilities available. Plenty of parking.

PROS: Order a Flaming drink, history was never this much fun
CONS: Longish drive, eating fish with fish looking at you

I think this is a great place for a unique aquatic surrounding. They are loaded with dark booths flanked by huge glass aquariums on all sides. They serve you flaming mai tais! If you are adventurous this is totally the place to go. My problem was that there were kids running around inside it was less classy than red lobster. Maybe a bad day, but give it a chance? Don't plan anything soon afterwards because the freeway was congested coming in and out of that place.
