I've been taking my precious little Chloe (Yorkie) to this hospital for a year and a half for regular check-ups, vaccines and anytime she has felt under the weather. The entire staff has been extremely helpful, thorough, and kind to my feisty little girl. I continue to use their services because I feel that the vets really try to connect with Chloe and make her feel comfortable. They are also great at encouraging Chloe and I to overcome our trepidation :)

I have an 18 year old Feline named Annie. She was an orphan and bottle fed as a kitten. Resulting in a very, very shy cat that really only likes me and tolerates my brother who lives with me. Needless to say leaving the house with her, car rides and Vet visits have always been rough. When I got there for my appointment it had it's own convenient parking lot behind the facility(which is great for downtown). The waiting room was clean and empty. The women behind the counter was pleasant and very helpful. The two resident cats that wonder the facility are happy and seem well loved by the staff.
Dr. Barron was the Vet that I met with and she was very nice and knowledgeable. I had done some research on line and thought Annie might have Hyper-thyroidism. After the consultation the pricing for all tests and procedures were clearly shown to me with no confusion. They even offered to clip Annie's unruly nails for free! Annie was the least nervous I have ever seen her at any Vet, and I have been to three in her lifetime

I went to this hospital because i had an emergency my dog broke his penis bone which i dont even know how thats possible anyways i was in a budget they gave me two options one was the most expensive one and a cheaper one obviously i took the cheaper one it didnt guarantee anything it was one of those 50/50 but was worth the try. Dr. Wong was the one helping us to me they were the best they treated me and my dog like if we were important and because of them my 10 year old boxer is alive and im thankful that i gave them a try because without them my max would have not been here with me today.

I have been using this vet for my two sphynx cats since they were kittens. When Seymour was in to be neutered the staff paid extra attention to him and bonded with him. The vets are knowledgeable and extremely loving with the animals as well as the rest of the staff. I have sinced moved from downtown to West Hollywood and do not intend on changing to a vet closer to me. I am very happy with my experience at this hospital. I trust them and their prices are reasonable.

I have a 9 year old Bichon Frise who was operated on by Dr. Marks last year in '09. My dog was having difficulty urinating...beyond just having a UTI...my dog was diagnosed with urethral cancer. A mass was found to be blocking the ureter making it impossible for her to pass urine. She could only pass urine with a catherter in place. My dog has had a history of having frequent UTI'S, bloody urine, and having difficulty urinating which was always treated as a UTI by other Vets with the same antibiotic every time that I had visited and they were not interested in looking any further regarding her problem. The oher vets actually palpated her bladder and said I don't feel anything and she's not in pain.

When I first took my dog to WD & C several years ago Dr. Marks took the time to examine my dog and even did a free ultrasound to check out her bladder to see if she had some sort of stone or mass blocking her ureter. He did the ultrasound without hesitation because it was her first visit to see him and I simply gave him some history during her "wellness visit" and routine vaccinations. I was amazed that he went out of his way to do it, and at the time she was not even having a flare up. He simply wanted a baseline test because of the history I had given him about her bladder.

This time her visit was much more disturbing because she couldn't urinate at all unless she had the catheter in, and Dr. Marks still couldn't see anything via x-ray. He called and stated that she would need exploratory surgery because there was definitely something there deep in her pelvic cavity, and naturally there was. He discoverd that she had urethral cancer and he called me every step of the way to keep me informed of what was going on with my dog's surgery. I am saying all this to say that Dr. Marks and Dr. Wong went far beyond the call of duty to save my Bichon's life while they had her on the table. He was very point blank about the fact that I could put her down or he could re-route her ureter to her abdominal wall to create a stoma through which she would urinate and possibly uncontrollably for the rest of her life which may not be long. Well, anyway, this surgery took place on 06/12/2009 and my bichon had an aggressive cancer that Dr. Marks and Dr. Wong removed with the utmost of care and cleaned the margins as best they could. My dog is happy, energetic, urinates well and still has full controll of her bladder function. She takes piroxicam everyday, and has not missed a beat.

The team at WD&C are very warm, considerate, and caring. Dr. Wong and Dr. Marks are superb surgeons who truly enjoy what they do. I know that I am excited to have my dog alive and well 7 months later and for however long she has left to be here. I have read several other post good and bad, and I do hope that you would take the time for yourself to get the feel of this facility and the gracious team that comes along with it.

We have been taking our dogs and cats to Washington Dog & Cat for twenty years. I have always found the staff and veterinarians to be caring and friendly. Dr. Marks is an outstanding vet. I have gone through various surgeries, general examinations and shots and put down two dogs and two cats over the years. The service has always been very good.

I will never take my many pets anywhere else. When my cat had a mystery illness they let me come to feed and comfort her several times a day. The Techs are incredibly kind and gentle. If anything, the Vets here are so overly helpful and careful to train you how to help your pet they always have a waiting room full of happy loyal folks waiting. The Vet owner and his wife are truly devoted to animal health. First ones to tell me the TRUTH about dog parks - full of disease and germs and aggressive dogs. This VET came to my home to put down my suffering cat after a long illness because I was so distraught I couldn't drive - on a Holiday no less. They are constantly adopting deserted kittens. Clean if funky place with real expertise.

Worst place to take your pet to, these people don't care how sick or in pain your pet is, they are not there to help. All they care about is charging you outrage amount of money to in order to receive any medical attention. I took in my Cat today, earlier today while there was still hope for my cat, and these people were heartless and i had to leave with my sick cat. the prices are crazy, Iam currently unemployed and was limited in funds and they chose not to work around my budget.
Never ever going there again if i have any other pets in the future!!!

I took my cat in who had gotten an upper respiratory infection and the front desk staff, while not the greatest, was adequate. The doctor was very knowledgeable and didn't rush me at all. In fact, she almost seemed to over-explain the diagnosis, which is better than under-explaining it. The prices are fair and the medicines worked like a charm. Compared to the high-end, expensive vet I use when I'm in Las Vegas (my permanent residence), I received the same information, same medicine, and at a much cheaper rate! I would definitely recommend this vet to others if they don't mind the less-than-fancy building.

Washington Dog and Cat Hospital has provided my animals with outstanding and caring service for the past 10 years. They cured a puppy I had picked up who had parvo virus, and made sure I was able to protect my other dog from exposure during the treatment process. They remind me when vaccines and check-ups are due, and they are extremely flexible when my crowded schedule requires last-minute changes of appointment times. I live in Angelino Heights and work near this vet office, and I could definitely take my pets to more expensive places closer to my house. I choose to stay with this vet because of the quality of the services offered.

I've been taking my cats to Washington Dog & Cat Hospital for five years, and I've always had a great experience. Contrary to the other posters, I've found the folks at the front desk to be friendly, helpful and accommodating. More importantly, the medical care has been excellent. One of my cats had cancer surgery there last year, and she's recovered well. This is a vet office in a poor neighborhood, and I appreciate that the staff understands that pet owners may have financial limitations, and they seem to be realistic about what you can and can't do for your pet.

I TOOK MY DOG TO THIS HOSPITAL TO GET HIS SHOTS BUT I WAITED FOR 30 MINUTES BECAUSE THE LADIES WERE SO BUSY (APPARENTLY) UNTIL I GOT TO SEE THE VET WITH MY PUPPY. THE GUY THAT GAVE MY PUPPY HIS SHOT WAS MEAN THAT MY DOG WAS SHAKING AND CRYING AFTER THAT I COULDN'T STOP HIM TO BE AFRAID. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE THAT HAS A PET.

We took our cat there to get blood and urine test. We called them a week later to get the results and discovered that they forgot to do the blood test! Seems really unorganized to me.
It's not a life threatening mistake but it doesn?t reflect well on their hospital.
I'm a bit afraid of putting my cat under anesthesia there and see them forget what they were doing to the cat!

PROS: open weekends
CONS: unorganized, careless

Agree that the clerical staff were a bit strange/unfriendly. But the actual medical professionals were commited and thorough. We ended up paying more than expected, the visit/consultation alone was $55 before any treatments. But our beloved cat got well again, and they followed up with us later to check all was still OK. Also they consulted with us at regular intervals, answering our questions fully so we understood the pros and cons of each treatment.

PROS: Open on Sundays; pet-focused; decent aftercare.
CONS: Can pay more in total with price of each procedure/treatment.

I took my dog here for a check up because she seemed kind of bummed and itchy. Well, they seemed to think that I was the one who was kind of weird... but I do believe that dogs also have their ups and downs. Anyway, they inspected her and said she seems to be fine. So I guess my dog didn't get any treatment. But I went somewhere else after and it turned out she needed some allergy shots.

If you see someone trooping down Venice Boulevard with three hounds looking like they need a bath....that would be us on our way to the Dogromat! This place is great because you can bring your pets here and they have everything you need to bathe them yourself, plus they offer grooming services so while you're there you can get them all "Paw-dicures"

PROS: great idea..self serve doggie baths!
CONS: none

I recently took my cat here for a gum/sinus infection. The front desk staff could be better - I stood in front of them for minutes without being acknowledged. The doctors were nice, but one doctor told me my cat needed to lose weight but didn't elaborate on what measures I could take to aid this. She also recommended blood tests (which came out negative) and a dental cleaning, and all told my cat's two visits cost me $600.

They allowed me to drop my cat off in the morning for his dental cleaning and pick him up at the end of the day which was convenient - they also offered to board him overnight, if necessary.

Overall it was a decent vet experience. The cost seemed prohibitive, but I think it was mostly due to the blood testing and medication and dental work. I think a straightforward visit without all the extras is about $35, which I think is average.

PROS: nice doctors, small parking lot in back
CONS: mediocre front desk staff, doctor's somewhat rushed
