Ozone is a Thai fusion food restaurant, which gathering all type of traditional Thai food into one spectacular menu. A few entree items include mint leaf with meats, thai fresh chili, seafood with chili sauce, cashew nuts chicken, spicy eggplant, ginger chicken, beef or pork, to name a few. The creation of the varied menu shows the traditional Thai and Thai fusion specialties.

The Scene
On a busy lower-Polk corner, this hideaway restaurant sports large windows that look onto the street below. Clubby contemporary furnishings, like mid-'80s plastic wave-back chairs and Kartell colored light fixtures, are mixed with cross-cultural pieces such as Asian stools and sisal-covered banquettes with silk shantung pillows. TV screens dominate most of the space, adding an incongruous sports bar vibe.

The Food
The menu offers an impressive variety of both traditional and experimental Thai dishes. Ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and many feature nice compositions. A standout included a salad topped with a layer of crispy catfish that's shredded then fried, served with cashews, sliced apple and a kicky dressing. Deep-fried pork spareribs are succulent, and the "Spicy Dice" is a savory dish of salmon, coconut milk, curry and crispy bits of fried basil.

Key Points

  • Delivery
  • Thai fusion

Resturant

Thai food is only good if you eat in the Ozone Restaurant. They have chicken with nuts and spicy eggplant. God I love their eggplant. I wish I could make it at home.

One of the Best Thai Restaurants in the Bay Area

by Victor L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,184

There are a great many Thai restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, and it gets incredibly hard to compare them with each other, but The Ozone definitely stands out as one of the best. The Ozone is like a traditional Thai restaurant meeting a modern day American restaurant. The food may be strictly Thai, but the decor and the environment gives off a nice karaoke/bar feel, with just a hint of Thai. There's a large bar section in the restaurant for those who would like to drink. There are over half a dozen televisions and one big screen projection screen for karaoke purposes. You can either bring your own karaoke disks or you can go through their list of thousands of songs in a wide variety of languages to sing from. The food is moderately priced, and the staff members are all very nice. I know that I'll be recommending this place to more friends in the future, whether it's for business activities or social events.

do not eat at Ozone!

by jasperwhite

Ozone restaurant is a filthy place and the food is riddled with MSG. The waitstaff openly handle the food with their hands as it sits on the bar waiting to be delivered to your table. The atmosphere reeks of the party that took place the night before. We only gave it a chance because "The Rough Guide" had recommened it. Our party of 5 were violently ill in the middle of the night after dining there. Please avoid this restaurant at all costs!

Pros: none

Cons: food is horrible

The food was OK...

by psm419

this restaurant is very overly rated. The waiteress were flirting with the bar customers, we had to wait atleast 20 minutes while two were talking cheap to other customer. Music is way too loud for the restaurant, my husband and I couldn't hear eachother accross the table. After we got the soup, which was good, another waitress came along and asked us twice if we would like to order something else, maybe desert. and we had already ordered entree from our original waitress. Entree was ok, nothing special. I have had much better thai food in Portland and Seattle.

Pros: ambience

Cons: poor service, very loud music

THE place for a medium size party

by shaggy290

Ozone had excellent service and the fact that they truly bent over backwards to make our party (~30 people) perfect-- the abundance of food at a really reasonable cost, great atmosphere, and the fact that they even added some extra dessert items to make our party more special. They were very easy to work with, even with changes in number of people attending and some menu changes.

Pros: management and the staff

Cons: not easy to find parking in the area

Great Food & Nice Service

by jeerhsu

I came to OZONE with my friends after watched the movie "Ratatouille," and all we were satisfied for the food very well. There were so many choices that we got a long time to order, but the waitress was so patient with us and gave us many good comments. All dishes are big and tasty with reasonable prices, especially the honey roasted duck and the three taste fish, both they are our favorites today. I think I'll come to visit it again very soon.

i've been to this place many times, and it used to be my favorite thai place. i think lately it's been disappointing... my usual dishes, such as pineapple fried rice was soggy and mushy. i'd rather go elsewhere now.

Really fresh food and great delivery service!

by 0721

This place is great! The BBQ Chicken Fried Rice and shrimp egg rolls are delicious, and their pad thai is really fresh and flavorful. The delivery time was short, and the food was still hot and crisp like it had just been prepared. We'd highly recommend it for anyone who wants fresh Thai food delivered!

Pros: Fast Delivery, Fresh Food

We have actually ordered from here several times for late deliveries (after 10 pm). Highly recommend -- who else delivers til 1:30 AM???

Cool

by martytini

This is a great place to get a late night bite to eat if you're a night owl like me. Also if you're busy with work or what not, this place also delivers into the wee hours. My favorite items are the duck curry and the fried chicken. The Panang with rice is also quite filling if you've got the munchies, heh.

Pros: lychee martini, cute waitresses

Cons: kind of loud, no hard liquor

Not too shabby

by tikigirl234

I've heard of honest constructive criticism, but some of the reviewers of this place are just down right slandering. I agree with them that some of the earlier reviews may seem a bit suspicious as if they were written by friends of the the restaurant, but actually 'paying' people to write reviews is an exaggeration. Don't get me wrong, the place does have its flaws but people shouldn't act like jerks and write rude, insulting, and unrealistic comments. Just be honest. The food is not the greatest, but it's decent. The service people can be hard to communicate with at times due to language barriers, but they are genuinely friendly. The setting could use a bit more lighting as it is a bit too dark for my tastes, but I like how it's roomy. There are ups and downs to all places. A good review points out all the aspects.

Pros: Roomy, Cocktails, Price

Cons: Lighting, Ladies Room

is this the same restaurant?

by coling

I read the other reviews, and I don't know that I went to the same restaurant (providing that they weren't written by paid goons, which I actually suspect from the writing).
On Polk? Second story across from the Hemlock Pub?
This was some of the worst food I've ever had at any restaurant, including Denny's, Waffle House, Panda Express, and this little New Mexico fast food franchise called Blake's Lottaburger.
Even if the shrimp was fresh and didn't smell like a wet dog (I didn't taste it), or the fish cakes didn't taste like something Mc Donald's had rejected, or the curry wasn't wattery with under-cooked potatoes, this place would still suck, just because of the lousy service.
Unless you want to go get drinks or sing karaoke with Thai people, avoid it like the plague.
AVOID IT

Ozone Rocks!

by kathaylatte

After some small confusion over a reservation, our group was seated promptly and the rest of the dinner went without a hitch! The selection of dishes was great and everyone was thrilled with the food (especially the prices!) We were very pleased with the service (Tai was fantastic!). Great for big groups. We will definitely come back here again - maybe we'll even stay for the Karaoke next time! Only complaint was the lack of a full bar but the cocktail menu was pretty good.

Pros: Great food, Great service, Cheap prices

Cons: Not a full bar

AWESOME PLACE TO EAT AND HAVE FUN

by emceeclix

I've never been to a thai restaurant that looked this nice and had such high tech equipment like turntables, nice tvs, a projector screen, karaoke w/wireless mics, and a bar that was simply amazing. I had dinner there once and learned that they took reservations for parties, and i held a party there for my brother which turned out wonderfully due to the features named above. WOW!!!

Pros: VALUE, HIGH TECH ELECTRONICS, FRIENDLY STAFF

Highly Recommended

by tedtbare

Ozone is a great place to dine and hang out.

From the soft glow of the candle lights to the colorful lighting artistically matching the rest of the decor, I just love the ambience of this place. My favorite spots to sit are the booths that have large pillows for seat backings.

From initial obeservation, one might expect its prices to be high, but upon closer inspection of the menu, their delicious selection of dishes is actually relatively inexpensive. My favorite is the pineapple fried rice.

A couple blocks from the AMC1000 theater, I usually go there after watching a flick with friends. One more thing to note for those who might have trouble finding the resturant is that it is located on the second floor of a building.

For good food and good times, I recommend that people check this place out and see for themselves. Enjoy.

Pros: Inexpensive, Clean, Good Food
