I temporarily was added to my wife's insurance (Anchor General) due to a miscommunication with my previous insurance, Farmers. Four days later my wife unavoidably ran over a huge piece of metal that was in the road. It did almost an estimated $5000+ in damages to my under carriage. They charged me a unbelievable amount of betterment on my vehicle that the Collision Center did not agree with as well. I never approved the repairs after the estimate was given, as required, per the Collision Center and Anchor General. They claimed to have contacted us and received approval, but truly never did.

I called the Manager of their claims Dept., to get an explanation of these non-approved betterment charges. I was very professional and courteous explaining my concerns. He immediately became defensive and lied (I knew very little about this process but did a little research prior to calling). He lied and when I questioned him on the lie, stating another area of concern that he previously mentioned, he immediately tried to cover his dishonest statement.

I now have an appoint for consultation with an attorney and am going to seek legal action.

I have never written a review, ever, but letting this company continually scam and profit is out of the question. I will do all I can to let the public know about their ways. According to other reviews, I'm not the only one.

This the worst insurance anybody would have paid for. I've been in a car accident and i file a claim.. they said it will take 42 to 72 hour and the other insurance had already contact me like the next day.. wtf.. who ever has anchor.. is just paying for nothing. Anchor.. Karma will so get revenge..

I was involved in an accident with an individual insured by anchor general. The other driver was at fault, so after not hearing from their insurance carrier for two days after the accident I started trying to contact them. The agent, Donna Jones, eventually took my statement and was beyond rude, telling me to hurry up, and when I began to explain it quickly started yelling at me to slow down as she couldn't get it all down (apparently they don't record statements which seems inappropriate). I asked when a resolution might come through and she said her customer (the other driver) had to make her statement and she couldn't tell me when that would be--could be days could be two weeks. I informed her that I had no car as my was inoperable, so would they be providing a rental and she said no, nothing would happen until her customer made a statement. I never heard from her, but a appraiser came out one week ago and I never heard anything. I have left three messages and am now without my car for two weeks. Beyond the fact that nothing has happened, and I leave messages daily, her behavior was just extremely rude.

They will do whatever it takes to NOT pay you! Stay away from these crooks. I have been stretching my patience for a full week without a car and every time i call it's "oh... i'm sorry, we are just mising another form... please mail it us as soon as we can... and so forth". go to http://www.insurance.ca.gov/ and make a complain too if they try (and they will) stiff you.

I find it hilarious to read the first comment admitting that they had 3 accidents and couldn't understand why they wouldn't qualify for a good driver discount any longer! I too have had some violatios on my record, but found after many broker quotes, Anchor really was the most competitive considering my driving history.

I have had insurance with Anchor for over a year now and am pretty happy with their overall service; maybe because I am set up on auto pay and I rarely have problems with billing.

I have recommended Anchor to friends without hesitation.

**** Wish I would have researched this company before I was forced by the jerk at cost u less to get Anchor General !!! I was first told by the broker that an accident I was unsure if it expired would only be maximum $5 extra adding to my policy which they first wrote of $135.. It went up $240 3 months later because if you have more than two accidents you dont apply for their good driver discount!! So 90$ more a month ridiculous!! I was also in an accident that was not my fault took more than a month to fix should have been totaled, I took my car home it wouldnt start so they had to come out and fix it ! I also had to pay the body shop my $500 deductible which I still havent been refunded after 4 months and just as Im about to cancel this guy runs a red light and hits me!! Now i have to deal with this process all over agian the rudest claims adjusters and customer service are the most difficult to get a hold of and most unprofessional people EVER!! DONT EVER GET THIS INSURANCE COMPANY THEY SUCK!!

Everything is a hassle with this company. If you mail in your payment early they won't cash it until it is late. If you want to pay too early they will most likely loose your check and tell you that you need to mail in another check. And they will also let you know that when you do mail in another check and if they find your lost check. They will cash both checks and not put the extra payment towards the next month. I have a problem with this company every month. My problem for this month, and let me tell you there is a problem EVERY month, is that my insurance has gone up because my marital status has supposedly changed. I have been married sense 2007 and it is 2010. I am not divorced nor separated from my husband. When explaining this to this INS company they explained to me that I has to sent in an original marriage certificate and it could be months before it is updated. They also let me know that I would not be reimbursed for the months I'm going to have to pay with my marital status as single on my account. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT go with this insurance company!!!!!
