Don't let the chain name throw you, this is a quality place for a steak and this location is no different.

Sorry. You?ll have to decide if it?s what you want.\r\nWe thought that it was a fine dinning of some sort by the prices and description. We so wanted to feel relaxed and comfortable in that type of setting. Having read that a dress code existed, we dress accordingly, it did not seem to be put in operation on the night we went.\r\nNo way indeed ! A sports bar with flat screen televisions and the right cliental to match with loud voices. \r\nSome people there looked like they had come directly from a building site with out changing. Some never heard of an Iron. We felt out of place. \r\nFood good, service fine and valets polite. I personally can watch TV at home.\r\n

I would like to start this office by stating I am not the type of person to throw out all the negatives and forget about the positives. Last night my wife and I had dinner at Ruth Chris?s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, CA. The food was great, the service was excellent but the atmosphere was horrible! When we showed up there were a large group of African Americans dressed like rap stars smoking cigarettes and using extremely foul language in front of restaurant. Inside was worse! I don?t know what RCS did but I remember when this restaurant opened, and it was a very classy place. Now with the amount of trashy clientele that habitats the restaurant WE will not be coming back. I can understand lowering prices to meet what the economy will bare, but to lower your standards of the clientele and dress code would make even Ruth Chris roll in her grave. I was embarrassed to bring my girlfriend and felt I should have bucked up and spent the extra $50.00 and had the same meal (but without the rap show) at Maestro?s, Grille on the Alley or even Woflgang?s. At least they hold to a standard that Ruth Chris?s lost when the economy fell.

I went to Ruth's Chris last night for a birthday dinner and was pleasantly surprised. First of all, I would like to have our waiter from Ruth's Chris, ""Rafael,"" at every dinner I have for the rest of the my life! His service was not only personal, but patient and welcoming, too. Our martinis were perfect and LARGE, not the stingy, small, demi-martinis that you get in wimpy cocktail lounges. And the caesar salad was very good while the fillet was excellent. The fillet was not the most perfect fillet that I've ever had in my life, but it was far above average in taste and texture. The side dishes were good, but not outstandingly flavorful. But because the service was so over the top, it didn't matter. The one major issue was the fresh-frozen lobster tail. Unfortunately, the first one was chewy. The kitchen remade the order with a new tail and brought a nice one out that was unfortunately, also a bit chewy. The kitchen manager came out and talked to us about our reaction to the lobster, and he was completely understanding about our opinion. Although the dinner wasn't 100% perfect, the exemplary service offered by Raphael and the rest of the crew handily won us over. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ruth's Chris of Beverly Hills, and I look forward to going back.

Pros: Some of the best table service I've ever had, excellent timing, no rush, very enjoyable

Cons: Really can't think of any worth mentioning, except that the lobster was not exceptional

My husband and I made a rerservation for dinner at Ruth's Chris. We were called this morning to confirm, we said we would be there. When we arrived for our 7:15 p.m. seating we were told that they had no record of our name but they could seat us. The hostess first offered the 1st booth closest to the front door, I asked if they had anything else. She said they had one small table in the private dining area. We sat back there and might as well have been seated on the tarmac at L.A.X. Thank goodness our waiter was good. My ears are still ringing from the sound decible level in that horrible room.\r\nOn the way out I stopped by the front desk and told them that ""Kathy"" was the person who phoned us today to confirm, the hostess said they do have a Kathy and proceeded to look our name up again, she said ""oh it says you cancelled"". The manager was standing there and just said ""oh....sorry"", very unapologetic.\r\nWe will stick with Lawreys for future steak dinners out. We should have known better.

This place is known for the steak...but I must say the Salmon was the bomb. The sides are terrific and I enjoyed my self at this restaurant. The service is great and the staff was friendly. Oh the drinks are to die for. A little costly but well worth it.

I went to Ruth's in Santa Barbara and the service, atmosphere and side orders were excellent and the steak I ordered was a big letdown. The mediium rare porterhouse steak I ordered looked tough from the outside and was even tougher to chew on. Even one of the people who was sitting at my table said, ""That steak looks tough."" I can get a steak just as good for about 1/3 of the price. I hope I just got the wrong impresson of Ruth's. Porterhouse Bistro in Beverly Hills is so much better.

Went to the Pasadena location for my birthday in May 2007. From the time you enter, service is promt and everyone is polite. The restaurant is dim and romantic with great high back booths lining the walls and tables in the middle. Althought every table was full, it did not feel overcrowded or loud (Mastro's is extremly loud compared to this restaurant). Our waiter was wonderful and made some great recommendations, even bringing out wine samples to accompany our meal. I ordered the Kobe filet and it was amazing. Sides are generous and you can share them between 2-3 people. Martinis are delicious. For desert, my husband ordered their banana pie and i got creme brule. We both thought we had died and gone to heaven. Best steakhouse i've been to. Food is comparable to Mastro's, however, the atmosphere and experience is a thousand times better. Will go back again and again.

I have been to Ruth's Chris Steak House on a few of occasions, and loved it every single time. I just love how the steaks come out sizzling on a hot plate. The steaks are very juicy and makes my mouth water everytime I think about it. This is how steaks should be done. I think that the price is fair for the quality that you are getting. The atmosphere is just wonderful and service is phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this if you are a steak lover. It is also a great date spot and for special occasions. Just make reservations before you go, otherwise you can end up waiting for a while on very busy days.

I've eaten at most of the LA steakhouses, from Petrelli's to Mastro's and Taylor's to Morton's. I still think Ruth's Chris makes the best steak. I always order the Fillet Mignon, wherever I go. I suppose you could argue that everything tastes better when served in sizzling butter, but it's still the best! They could use a broader selection of side dishes, as you only get a piece of meat on a (very hot) empty plate. The service is very good, and the steaks are all cooked exactly to your liking. This restaurant is very well run.

My co-workers and I had dinner there yesterday night after work. We had I reservation at 7pm. We were promptly sitted and asked for our drink orders. For appetiziers we ordered the calamari, mushrooms stuffed with crabment and cesar salad, all were VERY excellent. For Dinner I had the petit filet with shrimp very small portions of entrees but large portions of the side dishes, so if you are dinig in a group I suggest that you all order separte dishes and share. Our waiter was nice but didnt seem genuine...maybe he's an actor...lol. All & all was great

I'd heard so many people rant and rave about this place so my bf and I decided to check it out one night. Both of us were disappointed. The food was just okay, the service was okay and the ambience was nothing special. The restaurant felt super stuffy...to add to the narrowness of the seating area, the tables seemed so crowded together and the incredible noise level didn't seem to help either. I won't be going back.

I was absolutely shocked at the poor quality of this renowned restaurant, since I've been to the one in Wash. D.C. My steak was dry, overcooked. The vegetable side dishes were very bland (asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes). The only thing that was good was the bread and the appetizer, stuffed mushrooms w/crabmeat. The service was friendly, but the quality of the food was unfortunately not worth the steakhouse prices. I would go elsewhere.

I visited the one in Pasadena to celebrate a friend's birthday and was very pleased with the service. We were seated within minutes of our arrival and the waiter took the time to explain the menu and to make a my first visit unforgettable. The side dishes were very tasty and the steak was tender and juicy. I did not care for all the butter served with it, but the tenderness and flavor, made up for it. We ordered the Porterhouse for two, which is great to share with a significant other, and sides are served family style as well. It was a little pricey, but the atmosphere was warm, cozy, and romantic. I will be back!

Went here last month and I can say with conviction this was the best steak I've ever had! I'm a big steak eater so this is saying a lot. I had the filet mignon, medium rare, and it was tender enough where i can almost cut through the meat with my fork! Highly recommended for steak lovers!

I don't eat red meat, but my boyfriend loves steak so I took him here on his birthday. He said afterwards that it was the best filet he's ever had. My ahi tuna steak was great as well, as were our sides/apps (caesar salad, BBQ shrimp, mashed potatoes) and my delicious apple cucumber martini. My only complaint was that our server was incredibly slow and inattentive. For that kind of money, I expect to be treated better.

I agree that the atmosphere of the restaurant was horrible.....it's noisy and crowded.......and the service was not very well either.......however, I have to admit that they have the best steak in town. I am looking forword for the Pasadena location and hopefully the atmosphere there will be better than the one in BH.

You can't say anything bad about this old stand-by, which always delivers succulent steaks and a solid, low-key atmosphere. It's not as overwhelming as Lawry's, but I think it's a decent option -- particularly given the variety in selection of steaks. Advice to live (or die) by: Put butter on everything, and the flavor will jump up several levels.

A very overrated restaurant.\n\nI went 1 time - that was enough after all the hype\n\nThe only thing right about the steak - it was medium rare. Other than that only fair flavor, excessive fat and a little tough.\n\nThe spinich - not that good. The potatoe was ok\n\nThe wine - excessively over priced, it was marked up 5 fimes from retail.\n\nNot an experience I will repeat.

I had high expectations when taking my husband for his birthday to Ruth Chris - food was excellent, service was terribel. You can never reserve online on their website for this location; Did not get a very warm welcome when arriving; This location is VERY SMALL, in a shape of a rectangle - and a short and narrow one. Booths are along one side of the wall, and the other wall consists of the bar and past that 4 tables for 2. You can only walk in a straight line and back; YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR A BOOTH; SERVICE is where they lacked. Our waitress was friendly to us initially when we were seated, but after that, she failed to stop by to finish getting our order. SHE WAS HOWEVER VERY FRIENDLY TO EVERYONE ELSE AROUND US EXCEPT FOR US. I sensed that she was not very 'minority' friendly.\n

In a word, disappointing. I had high hopes from all the reviews and chose Ruth's Chris in Beverly Hills to celebrate my birthday. The receptionist made fun of my last name in front of me. They seated the four of us in a small table for two where we didn't have enough room for all the food we ordered. The appetisers (seared tuna and oysters rockerfeller) were warm like it had been prepared long time ago, but took a long time to arrive. $78 porterhouse for two was great, but the $40 T-bone was over cooked and tasted like Sizzler steak. They forgot to bring our salad but charged us for it anyways. Without drinks, tip, or dessert the bill for 4 people was over $200. Not what I hoped for, but what I expected to pay. Not a good value.

I have been to several Ruth Chris' before, but I would have to say the Beverly Hills one is the best. The steaks are perfect, as would be expected from a Ruth Chris', however, the ambiance is unforgettable. If the prefect date night is what you are looking for, this would be a recommendation. The low lighting sets a very intimate atmosphere, and the phenomenal cuts of meat with tasty side dishes such as creamed spinach just round out a great experience.

The low lighting sets a very intimate atmosphere, and the phenomenal cuts of meat with tasty side dishes such as creamed spinach just round out a great experience.

I pulled up to the best Valet in Beverly Hills. Ron and his boys will take care of you. I was seated right away by my girl Tammie, and Rainy was a delight as always. I had two managers checking up on me...the steak was out of this world...and it's always this good. Do yourself a favor, do it right. New Orleans knows what the're doing, and the Beverly Hills RC brings it to us. Thanks.

I have eaten there two times. My first time was my favorite. One of my friends is a manager there & we got to talk to him. I had a salad & steak. It was a little over done but still it was wonderful. It is romantic and the 2nd time I went - it was with another couple. They liked it too!

I've dined at Ruth's Chris from Maui to Palm Springs. It doesn't matter where you dine in this chain of wonderful restaurants...everything is superb! You can't find a place to top it. I highly recommend people of taste and style to eat in any one of their restaurants. I'll always go back when I'm traveling or just in Beverly Hills. Thanks for a wonderful dining pleasure.

I have never actually tasted the filet at Ruth Chris because the cover the meat with so much butter it is disgusting but some people love it.

I like steakhouses. Often calm, quite, sombre, reliable, with good staff and dependable menus offering well known items that will not dissapoint. This is it. Nice. Well done. Run of the mill up-scale steakhouse that doesn't surprise or dissapoint. Not the cheapest place but gets you what you want. Not your first choice but give it a try. Ask to be seated in one of the booth's - really nice there.

My husband and I went here on Friday to celebrate Valentines Day. There was a waiting list and people were waiting, but of course we had reservations so we were quickly seated. Our hostess Tammy was cute and bubbly, and our waitress Amy was wonderful. We ordered 4 appetizers- crabtini,(which was my least favorite,)barbecued shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, and crab cakes which were all are to die for!!! I ordered the cowboy ribeye and he ordered the porterhouse for two. Both steaks were buttery and delicious, perfect and SUPER TENDER.WE had enough leftovers for the whole weekend. After adding drinks & salads the bill was $266,but you get what you pay for. I cant wait to go back!!!

You well never ever have a steak like this. I have been to plenty steak houses and this one beats them all by far. Steaks so tender you do NOT need a knife. It literally melts in your mouth. The service is great and best a romantic evening with a love one.

Whoa! I would have never thought that one steak could distinguish itself from the rest by such a wide margin. Its impossible to describe, other than fantastic. To put it in perspective of how tender the beef was....my business partner and I cut our steaks for fun with the dull side of the knife. Service is what you'd expect from such a pricy restaurant so I won't complement too much in that department (for $140+...you'd better get great service). Only downer was the the sides were ""ok""...but by no means lowered the quality of the dining experience

Ruth's Chris is by far my favorite Steakhouse in Los Angeles. Service is always outstanding, very attentive and friendly. There are some restaurants that would qualify for the having great steakhouses but their atmosphere gives a more formal vibe. I especially love that I can be in other major city and find the consistency in quality and service. Ruth's Chris by far is the best!

I reccomend Porterhouse for Two to share with your date. Not only is it huge, every bite you take literally melts in your mouth. Before you end your night, get their sour cream cheesecake for dessert. It's lovely. Our server was awsome, he was very helpful and attentive about our needs. Highly recommend!! If you want superb food and quality service, the price you pay is totally worth it.

Go for the steaks and the deserts. Yes, one dish may set you back half C. Once the meat is brought to you, that is when you know every penny was well spent. Service is great; the managers really know how to treat their customers. Only if they can train the waiting staff better. I have a thing about swinging pony tails around my food. Also, please relocate the AC duct that breath down directly on the steak and the back of customer's neck.

Ruth's Chris Steak Houses are usually fine places to eat. Previously I enjoyed dining at one in Texas(Dallas near Love Field) that was excellent. However, dining at the one in Beverly Hills provided a disageeably memorable experience and quite a contrast. The steaks were fine but the side dishes were overdone, ordinary, and comparable to mediocre fast food. Service was barely passable and the ambiance consisted of noise, intrusive servers-well...you get the picture!

My boyfriend and I go out to eat all the time, all over and when we went to Ruth's Chris we were treated very shabbily. With their attitude, I will never go back to them again. Very snooty and not the kind of place I would ever spend my money again.

Ruth Chris' has been my favorite restaurant for years! I have been to the location in a few other states. The Beverly Hills location is one of the best. The food is great. Service is hit or miss. The older, more experinced servers are wonderful!!! The younger ones (the last 2 times I went I was very disappointed with service) are not so good. They do not know the menu, the wines etc. The bus staff is always excellent! This last time, my salad was brown and my food came while I was eating the new salad (disappointing) - no apology or change in bill but I'll still keep going but I may request certain servers. Steaks are great. Seafood excellent!

Ruth's Chris is by far the best steak house I have ever eaten at--not only because everything from the coffee, to the main course, and all the way to dessert was absolutely mouth-watering delicious, but also because all of the servers are so courteous and classy. The bussers were so discreet and swift, that it seemed my water glass was filled almost as if by magic. The waitress was so personable and friendly, and as crowded as they were, she managed to give our table personal attention. Not to mention, the steak was so tender, I could cut it with a fork!!!

Ruths Chris seems to be very site-variable. I've been to several around the country, and while some are among the best steaks I've ever had, others were very disappointing. Luckily, the Beverly Hills branch seems to be one of the better ones, so I will base my rating on that. Not much to say its all about the steak--get the porterhouse for 2 (with a mate) and go at it! comparable to other high-end steak houses in LA (Mastros, Arnie Mortons)
