I've been a client of RAH for more years that I can remember.
Entire group from front desk, tech's and all 3 vet's. Dr. W, Dr. B and Dr. C. are all very caring and honest individuals.

I will continue to take my dogs to them for needs.

We have taken our cat and dogs and most recently guinea pigs to RAH. Dr Wooley is our primary vet and when we went through cancer with our Schnauzer she was very kind and considerate. at the point we put her down everyone was compassionate and made it as easy as possible given the circumstances. We will continue to take our furry friends even though we have moved out of the area.

With 3 dogs & 3 indoor cats we had been dedicated clients of Redwood Animal Hospital for well over 10 years now. I have always thought that both Dr Woolley and Dr B are excellent, caring vets and the technical staff was great. Recently, however, I had a very negative experience with one particular clerical employee. She actually 'lied' to me! I discovered this only because when I stopped in she (the liar) was at lunch and in having a conversation with the technician that was covering the front desk, I found out I had been lied to! It was not a new person, but someone that has been with them for a long time. Makes me wonder what other lies I was fed. Seriously considering finding a new place to give my business to.

First... there is no way Dr. Wooley would call anyone a 'wuss'. I have been going there for 10 yrs for both my cats and dogs and have found them to be nothing but caring. I have never been pressed to purchase any products. When my cat was attacked by the neighbors dog - they didn't charge me until I had the funds from my neighbor. When my dog was sick and I had to leave town suddenly for a family emergency - they didn't charge me to keep the dog over night until my neighbor could pick him up. They know my animals, care about my animals. When I first brought Bingo in.. he did NOT like them - they had me go back with him for blood samples so he would be more comfortable. I can not believe that anyone at that Vet would ever be anything but caring (Dr. Wooley can be gruff... but she is VERY caring. Dr B. is wonderful - and as concerned about animal obesity as my doctor is about my own weight gain, Dr. Chen - is really kind and nice).

Bringing in my 1.5 pound Chihuahua puppy, Dr. W jammed the thermometer into its rectum eliciting a loud scream. Seeing me cringe at my puppy's pain, she loudly jeered at me " ooh, do we have a wuss owner?" After that I saw Dr. B, whose main concern was my puppy's weight. When he was returned to me after having his claws clipped by a technician, he limped badly and was barely able to walk for 3 months. Bringing him back to Dr. B, she claimed that both of his knees were dislocated because he was overweight. When he could walk again, I brought him back but requested that his claws be clipped in my presence, reminding Dr. B that his knees had been dislocated last time as per her diagnosis. She stated firmly that she remembered no such thing. Not a way to gain a client's trust!

I have been going to RAH for about 15years now. Dr Wooley and DR B are fantastic vets. We have had odd problems to diagnose:Australian sheppard (Tag) with Allergies and Paralysis of the Larynx, typical dog problems: Golden Lab (Cleo) with Hip Dysplasia, cats with ringworm and Big emergencies: 8 week old puppy Cabo who broke his foot the second day he came home from the shelter (here they recommended BVAC who were expensive but awesome!).
RAH has been there thru it all. The best thing that I can share is that they all CARE... they have been by our side and came to our home when two of our best 4-legged friends had to go to the big beach in the sky. The caring and tenderness shown by Dr B and her team helped us thru those times- would not have wanted it done any other way!
I highly recommend them!

recently at Redwood animal hospital. I used to think I was getting excellent service and they really cared about my dog, but recently they seem more interested in the money than the dog. I can't fill my prescriptions online (no reason explained), they also required a visit and I had been there two months previous, and the thing that irks me most is the when you are put on hold you must listen to ads over and over about all that is wrong with your pet and you had better call the vet NOW!
I am frightened enough that I will lose my friend soon, I do not need to make it worse by worrying about all the other things that can go wrong.
I believe that sometimes education needs to be tempered by common sense, which happens with age and experience. Hopefully in time Redwood will see that the business development gurus only think about the bottom line, not the real pet owners who want to believe that the vet cares as much as we do about our animals.

We had Harry the Dog from a puppy. He was a Tibetan Terrior basically healthy with a few odd allergies. (Every year in October 6 on the nose we took him with a skin allergy). Redwood Animal Hospital was always thorough and kind in his treatment. Finally after 12 and 1/2 years he had a seizure. I called and told them he was in distress and on an emergency measure brought him over. It was quite obvious something was seriously wrong. I was given all the time I needed to make the decision that it was His time and given time to call my Wife and Daughter so they could come and spend some last time with Harry. After the decision the Dr. did an autopsy and confirmed our decision was correct. They also sent a card and made a contribution to rescue in Harry's memory. They made the hardest decision I have had to make in my life so much more manageable. Now after two years a new puppy has found my wife and myself. It has taken us that long to get over our grief but with the new boy in our family Redwood Animal Hospital is the only place I would consider for his care.

I was new to Castro Valley and I had a 16 1/2 year old poodle that was dying. I went to Redwood Animal Hospital under difficult circumstances. I had called them to find out about putting my dog to sleep and they set up an appointment for me. When I took my dog in they escorted me to a room so that I was not out in the public during my time of grief. During the whole process they walked me through what would happen step by step. The vet that saw my baby was very loving and caring. She even followed up with a card afterwards. When I get another dog I will take her to Redwood Animal Hospital and I will recommend them to everyone.
