We have been there a few times and have always been impressed by the food. In fact, the last time we were there, it was so busy that the service was really lacking, BUT the food more than made up for it. The owner was very friendly too.

DECOR: As confused as the website. OMG, I don't even know where to start. One wall has cow horns, going for that country look, the other wall has those fake "vintage clocks" that you can buy at Bed, Bath & Beyond (going for more of an old fashioned Italian(?) kitchen look, except the overall effect looks passed it instead. Those were the walls. The tables and dividers between is going for more of a bistro-ish. WTF, right? But wait, there's more!

MUSIC: So this is what they do on a Friday night in Millbrae! For those of you who live in the City like I do, and sometimes wonder why my mortgage is so expensive? This is precisely the reason why. At least San Franciscans do not have to endure restaurants in the likes of this. While we were there, the music went from Elvis, to Ray Charles, to that Dream, Dream, Dream song, to some type of country hee-haw song. WTF again, right?

FOOD: The most disastrous for the entire compotent! We had 2 rib eye dinners. On their website, it was shown as bone in. What we were served, wuzn't! We had the Ceasar salad and Calamari appetizers. Frikkin' disaster! How can you F-up a Ceasar salad? Well, this restaurant did, with dressing straight out of Costco, or something God awful. The Calamari, soggy! It was supposed to be deep fried, for crying out loud. SOGGY!!!!! My dinner mate had a glass of Cab - awful! I had an iced tea (designated driver). We gave up on dessert and anything else. Had a couple of bites of the horrible steaks, and had those to go instead to feed the dog. I honestly feel bad feeding him this stuff. He actually gave me a look when I first served it to him. Are you getting the picture here? Oh yeah, the bill came to over $120.

DON'T EVEN THINK about going to this place!

I was not very impressed. Ive heard that it used to be better and over the years has been going down hill. I expected much more. I had chicken marsala. VERY dry.

I wish we had checked here first! We have been LONG time
customers of the 16 and although we moved from the area 15 years ago, we have always felt it was worth the 75 mile drive. Having no clue that the resteraunt had been sold and remodled, image our surprise when we walked in! And to have a long time favorite server no longer be there was kind of a shock.
Altough we LOVED the remodel (losing the red velvet wallpaer was a HUGE improvement!), the service was horrible! Considering the place was almost empty when we arrived, it was very disappointing to have to wait for everything. And they really shouldn't have changed the recipe's. The Rack of Lamb USED TO BE worth the drive, but last nights dinner felt flat of our expectations. Not only was the Rosemary and garlic missing from the lamb, but the size of the side dishes were rather small for the price.

With the price of gas, it's no longer worth the 75 mile drive....

It's unfortunate that I was not impressed AT all with the new, improved restaurant. The new remodel is fabulous and the ambiance is awesome. I ordered the petite prime rib (figuring the chef is formerly from House of Prime Rib in SF - it had to be delicious), the cut was very small (smaller than petite) FULL of fat and so thin, you could actually see thru the meat. It was not flavorful at all, maybe 'cuz there was nothing to it! I went with a friend - we had salads to start, entrees and one glass of wine each, not a bottle and our bill was $96 with tip. That is way over priced for a poor, small meal. I want to like this restaurant, because the owners are very nice people, but overall - not worth it. If you want a deal, go for the early bird special - that would definitely be worth the trip!

My husband and I ate here last night under the new ownership and it was SO DELICIOUS!!!! We got there before 6pm and they have this awesome deal on Tues, Wed, and Thursday( I think) before 6pm you get a great dinner for $19. It comes with either a petite cut of Prime rib, catch of the day, or chicken a la 16 (which I got and was blown away by all the flavors and tenderness of the chicken). Plus a soup or salad. Then two choices of sides ( I got fresh veggies and a baked potato, so yummy). And there is more, you get a cup of ice cream for dessert. ALL of that for $19!!!

We got to meet the chef who has this talent for putting flavors on a plate that aren't overwhelming yet are little bites of heaven. He has this amazing bread pudding concoction that is to die for, (you have to ask him to make it if you go, just some forewarning though, it's gigantic so make sure you save room for it).

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is great, and the portions are big enough to satisfy my husbands hunger. All in all, we will be calling this our new place to go out and eat.

My husband and I have been driving from Livermore to Millbrae for many years to feast on the Leg of Lamb at Sixteen Mile HOuse. It had been about a year since last we made the drive, and with our 28 Wedding Anniv. approaching we called to make reservations. IT was then we learned of the new owner and remodel. We were more than impressed - not only with the remodel..but with the new chef! Come and enjoy this terrific place - the Leg of Lamb is as wonderful as we remember...others' in our party had slamon, prime rib, stroganogh and loved every bite. The soup was out of this world. More to follow Jake and Angel

NEW OWNER PETE HAS CREATED A WINNER. GREAT FOOD. THE LAMB AND signature BEEF STROGANOF lives up to billing. We got great service and excellent ambience(atmosphere) from the redecorated interior to the piano bar. We were part of a ten member party and was visited by the chef (formerly the executive chef from "The House Of Prime Rib")nice touch.

We visited twice and the food was overpriced both times. At our 2nd visit we learned that the fantastic waiter who served us the first time was no longer working there, and we were very disappointed and a terrible loss for the restaurant. The service was unprofessional and sloppy and our steaks were poorly cooked. All in all a very disappointing followup to a great first visit. Also $49 for a ribeye with a bone in it--way overpriced to go with weak service.

Sad how obvious the only other review in here was written by an employee or owner of this joint. This place was a joke. This place is really a Beer Bar that happens to sell some food. The woman who "served" us acted angry we were there (2:00 in the afternoon), left us sitting, we had to ask for everything, she never smiled once and basically shared her miserable attitude with everyone. Tried to have a quick late lunch with as business associate...food was SO bad there no words to describe! I already wasted more time writing this than the place is worth. Amazed they are in business...must be because the property is so valuable, they can pay their bills.

Pros: A little "history"
