Cherry Eye Surgery 4
By Susan B.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
I was referred to Dr. Lee, through the Spaniel Rescue association and am grateful to them, as Dr. Lee charges $185.00 for the surgery vs. $1000, through my regular vet.
The total was about $500, as he also did the ear flush...Hmmmm, Lucy, looks good as new and no more antibiotics, to keep the infection away.
I would definitely recommend him for cherry eye surgery. Lucy had almost NO recovery time. I was given an antibiotic salve for her eye but she hardly needed it.
(I just read the other reviews)
Yes, the scale was in the waiting room, however, I didn't have a problem with that, as my dogs (cockers) have stepped on dirtier things and I was the only person there, so there wasn't any additional stress. It would be nice if they had better seating in the waiting room though. They have two, yes two, little seats. You know, the kind that have doilies on them and are only for show in an old home, with antiques. They didn't appear to be valuable antiques, just non-functional.
My dogs sometimes like to sit with me, at the vet, but it isn't possible here. The room was moderately clean, not sanitized but acceptable for a vet (in that area).
I agree, that the most appealing thing about this visit, is Janine (?), the receptionist. She is very friendly and helpful but only works part-time.
ok, thats enough.

Cherry Eye Surgery 5
By Lianna P.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
My 9 month old English Bulldog went into surgery for her cherry eye this morning with Dr. Lee. Everything went great! Janine was the person I set the appt. with and she was so helpful and nice. She really made me feel like she cared and I appreciated how comfortable she made me feel. Bodhi (my bulldog) got brought in at 11am and was set for surgery. Dr. Lee was educated and helpful with all our questions. He also found a foxtail (a type of grass) is Bodhi's ear canal. He agreed to do an ear flush while she was under for the cherry eye procedure. She was ready to pick up by 1:30 pm and looked as good as new!! Her eye looked like she had never had cherry eye! I was so happy I could've cried:) My little Bulldog, pretty as could be. I'm so grateful to Dr. Lee and his staff, they did a great job. And best of all, it was only $400 for everything!!

Caring and Timely 4
By Jessica B.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
I had only been there once before with my dog who had an allergic reaction. They got her in right away and took care of her swelling. The entire staff was sweet and understanding. When I adopted my new pup, I called to make an appointment. They had an appointment available within 20 minutes of my phone call. Dr. Lee was great and he explained everything about my new rescue.
I would recommend Mission Gorge Animal Hospital to my friends and family.

Gives Good Care! 5
By Bonnie T.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
I stumbled across this review site and was surprised at what negative comments I read about Mission Gorge Animal Hospital. I have to disagree with the comments. Lets get this straight now. My pets are part of my family. I wouldn't just take them anywhere. I've been taking my dog and cat to Dr Lee now for 10 years. The girls in the office are great. I've even boarded my animals here. When I need to take my pets in for an ailment. Dr Lee always gives 3 options of treatment. From a more most costly treatment to what you can do at home care. He's not trying to take you for your $$. His prices are reasonable. He's always given the correct diagnosis. Other members of my family have Dr Lee as their family vet also. Many of my friends I've referred go here too. It's not a fancy place but the care and treatment are what I come for.

What I think 4
By Anonymous
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
The one thing I love about this animal hospital is that the people care. When I went there the 2 girls working (misha, and jeanene) made me feel so comfortable. You could tell that they were there to help and that they cared. My only complaint is Dr. Lees wife. She is hard to understand, tries to push you out, and only cares about the money. It is the staff that makes this hospital. Dr. Lee would have a better practice is she never came in the hospital. When you go just make sure Mrs. Lee is not working and ask for the girls!!

I will never take any of my animals back to Dr. Lee 1
By Laura L.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
Just like many others, I thought Dr. Lee was a very kind, well respected man who knew what he was doing. Untill, that is, my cat developed a sore on the roof of her mouth. When the sore was small, but hurting my cat very much, I took her to see Dr. Lee. He said, "it is probably nothing," and gave her antibiotics, a shot, and something else (sorry for the lack of memory.) None of this helped, the sore continued to worsen, and my cat was unable to eat and was constantly scratching at her face and gagging. I called Dr. Lee and told him the meds didn't work, and he told me to force feed her baby food, then bring her back if she wasn't getting better. She didn't get better. I brought her back a second time, and Dr. Lee perscribed her the SAME medicine that I told him didn't work. Mind you, both times it was over $200. He claimed that he didn't have any record of her visiting the first time. Turns out, he had all of her information in the folder with my dog, and didn't believe me when I told him that my cat's prescriptions were listed under my DOG'S name on the bottle! I told him I would not pay for the same meds, and that I wanted blood work done. He said it was probably pointless, and pricey, because he knew that it wasn't anything too harmfull. I requested blood work anyway. A couple days later I got a call from him saying the blood work was all negative, and to continue her on the SAME meds. She only got worse. She began having seziers on a daily basis, wetting the bed, and stopped eating. I was furious. I finally took her to a feline specialist a few days ago who right away diagnosed her with oral cancer. He said that it was so bad, that it had eaten through the roof of her mouth all the way into her naval cavity. When she eats, she constantly sneezes because the food goes into her nose. He said he couldn't believe our vet didn't notice this, and said it was impossible for it not to have shown up in the blood work. He told me that if it was caught in the beginning stages (when we brought her to Dr. Lee the first time) they could have operated and removed the sore and she would be cancer free. He told me that it is too extreme, and that operating would only leave her horribly disfigured, and she would have to eat from a tube for the rest of her life. When I found this out, all I could do was cry...then get angry...then cry some more. How could a DOCTOR not see this??? I hear from people how wonderful and consistant he is, but now my cat will have to be put down because of HIS carelessness. I am very close to filing a lawsuit against him. I don't believe he even tested my cat for cancer!!! I will never give him business again for my dog, or any of my families pets again, and I ask that you do the same.

Dr. Lee 5
By Angela R.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
I think that Dr. Lee has been extremely helpful and thorough with all of my pets. I have recommended him to several people and they too really like Mission Gorge Animal Hospital.. I would rather have a personable staff and a professional doctor, who always gives me a follow up call, than an ultra modern waiting room (that I would pay for with my bill). I have taken six of my animals to him and wouldn't go to anyone else.

Disagree with the naysayers... 4

Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
I disagree with the comments on this board. Mission Gorge Vet might not offer the most modern set up, but Dr. Lee is a very conscientious, thorough vet. I used Kensington Vet for several years - their prices were extremely high and they were always opting for the very costly (often holistic) treatments. On the contrary, Dr. Lee is much more affordable (and he follows up after every appointment.) Over the last couple of years he has seen my dogs and my cats - his diagnosis has always been correct and the animals have always received very good treatment. He might not have the warmest bedside manner, and if you're looking for someone to eww and aww over your pet then perhaps he isn't for you, but if you want trustworthy, affordable and thorough care I strongly recommend this vet.

Hated this place. 1
By Kelly C.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
As I only got as far as the waiting room, my review is slightly limited in scope.
The waiting room itself was unappealing, to say the least. It was dirty and in need of some refurbishing. I also didn't appreciate the scale in the waiting room with dogs. There's no way I'd have placed my kitten on it. I waited 30 minutes before realizing that my appointment which was scheduled for 4pm wasn't going to take place until well after 5pm because of the backlog of patients.
I did see the vet for a second when he chose a kitten from one of his patients, but he seemed completely uninterested in what was now his own cat, having the receptionists pick him out, hold him and name him. Being that uncaring towards his own pet left me with a very bad impression.
Overall: Rundown, overbooked, uncaring, and not particularly cat-friendly. I won't ever go back there.
Edit: I think people are only reading one line of this review. I don't care about the waiting room condition, so let's stop harping on that.
What I care about is the wait time. Has anyone here heard of actually using their appointment calendar? If you're running a place and you KNOW you aren't going to get to your patients for over an hour past their appointment time, call and reschedule them. Or tell them when they sign in. The fact that I waited 40 minutes before asking about the wait and was then asked if I would like to reschedule is completely inane and rude. Nothing like assuming I have nothing better to do than sit in a dirty room while my kitten is stressed out because she's surrounded by dogs.
If you want a cheap place to take your animals and you don't mind the fact that they're incompetent at scheduling and the vet is completely cold, that's your choice. Personally, I'd just go a block further to Friars Animal Hospital where I know the staff is caring and they understand how to manage their appointments.

Caring for our pets for about 20 years. 4
By Rob R.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
The people posting reviews are way too critical!!! Last time I was there, it was about a month ago. And the waiting room was full of people waiting with their animals. I guess these people don't share the same opinion as others posting here, obviously.
Dr. Lee and the Mission Gorge Vet Hospital has cared for our family pets for about 20 years now and we have no reason to change. I see others writing about the cleanliness and condition of the facility, seems to be a bit over critical to me. Nobody in my family has ever complained about this and we have taken a lot of pets there. As for the sales pitches for insurance, that has never happened to me. That sounds more like Banfield to me. I gathered up my puppy and returned to Dr. Lee/Mission Gorge Vet, because Banfield did nothing but pitch insurance, followed by an initial exam of our puppy that was far less thorough than Dr. Lee. Dr Lee gave our puppy an excellent initial exam. If you need a qualified vet for your family pet, see Dr. Lee at Mission Gorge Vet. If you want a insurance sales pitch, go to Banfield. You will need insurance for their high priced service. Dr. Lee will not break your budget and, the staff is quite friendly as well.

This place is really filthy 1
By Robert P.
Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
I should have walked out as soon as I saw the condition of the examination room: the floor hadn't been swept, the sink was full of hair, etc. I brought two cats for their annual exam. The lobby had no place to put the cats' carriers while waiting, and the only scale for weighing them is right in the lobby, where large dogs are constantly entering. You can imagine the stress on the cat trying to get it to stay on the scale amid all of the commotion. The vet himself spent less than 1 minute examining each animal. I had to ask him to look at their teeth -- he didnt bother even doing that. I asked about an issue with one of the cats having poor digestion, and got no answer, or even any discussion of what the problem might be. He just left, never having answered any of my questions. I will never go back there again. Not recommended.

Mission Gorge Animal Hospital
I wasn't too impressed with this Mission Gorge Animal Hospital. My husband suggested we take our dog there because it was close to our house. The customer service was okay, the doctor was nice but there wasn't anything exceptional about the service. It was almost like everything was about money, insurance and business and the only person I felt truly compassionate was the receptionist.
