Las Olas Mexican Restaurant is a great place to go with friends!

by Jamie F.

This place has an outdoor feel with great food. It's a hop, skip and jump from the beach and is very casual. They have something for everyone to enjoy.

Good time at Las Olas

by Lauren M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 119

Positives: Totally fun atmosphere- very good "build your own" fish tacos- delicious margaritas.

Downside: Looong wait (I suppose because it's so popular)

This isn't the most authentic Mex restaurant in San Diego but it's good.

good food, great service

by Bunny B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,990

My parents were visiting from out of town. They're not really into Mexican food, but enjoyed their experience at Las Olas. The fish tacos were good. Would go there again.

Dangerous Margaritas!

by Erin S. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,839

Food is average, but the atmosphere of this beach restaurant is awesome! Beware of the Cadillac Margaritas - dangerously good! Be sure to try beer battered fish & shrimp taco platter, always a big hit. Get there early on the weekends though - wait can sometimes be lenghty.

Foodies beware!

by Cathi B.

I ordered a side (of 2) cheese enchiladas) with some lettuce and tomatoes. The enchiladas were cold (hard cheese) and they lacked flavor. Then I got the bill, I was charged 1.50 for the lettuce and tomato, which brough my lunch to 9.00, wow, at a plate cost of probably 1.50, what a ripoff. Beers are 4.75. My friends ordered fish tacos and were not impressed either, and at 4.50 per taco, that is also very pricy. I would recommends Cessy's or Fidels or Kotijas in Carlsbad for better food with no hidden costs. Or head to OC, Los Panchos or Los Sanches or El curtido (for some great pupusas).

Authentic

by april f. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,037

If you are looking for great tasting authentic mexican food this is the place. The best in Carlsbad and the north county beach area. It is a really nice place and the food is just wonderful. It is located almost on the beach. The prices are low too!
