Top game store in the East Bay. The store carries a wide range of puzzles and games. They stock a good variety of products and if they do not have it they will find it for you. This is your one stop game shop.
4Endgame is the premier game store for the East Bay. They carry a broad range of games and puzzles. They also stock a good variety of wargaming miniatures. If they do not have it they can get it for you. The staff are very helpful and knowledgable.
4Endgame has a large facility in an excellent location in downtown Oakland. They have plenty of room both for product as well as for open gaming. The gamer community there is friendly, smart, and passionate.
Unfortunately the staff and owners of Endgame frequently exhibit poor customer service. They are often grouchy or surly.

Pros: location, customers
Cons: staff can be surly
Endgame has a very impressive space in the former Swain's building in downtown Oakland. A multi-level arrangement allows for plenty of shelf space in addition to plenty of gaming space. The store is well-stocked with plenty of great games, from family games to puzzles to role-playing games, card games, and wargames.
I do have to mention the staff. Some of them (not all) have a poor customer service attitude. They seem to feel the customer is there to serve them, and not vica versa. They can be surly at times.
Edited 9/30: My review of their store had nothing to do with what happened on their forums. Their rebuttal does not address the issue I laid out. I have sought to resolve our dispute amicably, but they have refused to do so, and have instead chosen to disparage me on the internet with vague comments about "inappropriate conduct." This conduct was simply to complain mildly about over-crowding at one event.

Newly-relocated, Endgame is tremendous. Their new building is huge. They have dedicated the second floor to live gaming, and you can usually find people there playing. They have scheduled game nights, info on their web site. Staff is friendly and really helpful if you have questions and are not sure what you're after.
