The Sacramento Zoo is a smaller zoo, but very good size for a family with young children. The grounds are well-kept, and the admission fees are very reasonable, especially since there are often coupons available. You can also get a combination coupon for admission to the zoo, funderland, and fairland.

You won't see the large animals you typically see at large zoos, but the zoo offers an collection of exotic animals to see. The zoo is small and should take you in a few hours to see everything. If you want to see a tiger really close, he often sleeps near a glass window where you can sit next to him. The Zoo is always improving and later they should replace the animals that has left (hippo).

PROS: cute zoo
CONS: small

The Sacramento zoo is not as large as the San Francisco zoo but it is a nice place to visit especially if you have kids. They have a very nice feline and reptile exhibit but they dont have elephants in the zoo though which is a shame. Their food and drinks are a bit overpriced.

Over the years, the zoo has improved a lot. There are plenty of animal/exhibits to see but you don't feel rushed like some larger zoos. The prices are reasonable especially if you get the season passes. It normally isn't overly crowded. If you haven't been in a while, it's worth a visit. Annually they participate in the free museum days - it's pretty busy but it's free!
