I Graduated from High Desert Medical College in December 2010. 4 months later I took and Passed the NCLEX on my first try and had a job as an LVN as soon as I got my results. I had a good experience with this school. They were going through alot of changes, including new ownership when I attended. All of the changes really seem to be for the better and they have a lot of great things going on. The school is definitely headed in the right direction. The staff is very approachable and friendly and they have some very good teachers. Jean, Clinical Coordinator and June, Carrer services, are AWESOME! ! June helped me write a great resume, and the two them had several job leads for me as soon as I passed the NCLEX. They are more than willing to help you out and will go above and beyond for you! I recommend this school.

Hi everyone I just enrolled in the up coming part time lvn program in Oct. 2010. I found that there is alot of transitional changes due to new owners. Some what confusing, but staff available to answer all my questions. Staff is friendly and supportive to students needs. They are accredited bvnpt. They are working on more training sites here in bakersfield. I am looking forward to starting school. They are accredited 2/10-2/2014 according to DCA web page

Hello Everyone I am a current student attending High desert medical college, I am attending part time LVN class, I would like to tell you that I have had a great experience, I really like
the small class size because we have became really good friends, and have learned alot from our instructors with the beniefit of the small class size, the D.O.N is really nice and will go out of her way to help each and every student, Student services She is awesome , she is always there to listen especially when you feel like the you are up to your kneck with studying, She has helped our class out tremendeously, from day one my admissions advisors was very helpfull, I can tell you just because its a vocational school you still have to put alot of studying into it so if your looking for an easy way out I dont reccomend it to you because you will have to put some work in to it, Thats just part of becoming a good licensed vocational nurse. So I hope my advise will help the prospective future students. Good luck

my name is manpreet and I graduated from this school, I pass the NCLEX on the first time. I now work in a hospital in bakersfield and I'm very happy there. I dont understand why you would say people there lie. I honestly had the best expierence with them. They never guareente you a job, becuse they can't. honestly they are accreditted just call the board of nursing and ask. I believe the person who calles them this bad name probabbly is lying. I have many freinds that graduated from this school and I keep referring new ones. I believe there's a lot of mean people out there. Oh by the way I drove from bakersfield every day and never had a problem!
I went to their satellite branch in Bakersfield Ca, and i was wondrin' if they're certified or not?!? I have been wanting to take up LVN first, and then proceed to BSN.. i know its cheap.. i took the their hobet exams.. and i passed. I'll be going PART-TIME in January. ( 18 months ) If they're medical is not accredited to some hospitals.. just wanna know how true is that.
to michellejohn: WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE CERTIFICATE IS NOT VALID?~?

I went through their LVN program and now I have a nursing license and work as a nurse. They are approved by the board of nursing and you can look on the state website -state of california board of vocational nursing or call the board of nursing and check it out. I wouldn't have been allowed to take the test if they were not accredited. The classes are very small but you get a lot of attention and unlike some of the other schools they try hard to make sure everyone passes. Your class is like family.
Pros: very low cost, easy admission, no waitlist
Cons: small school
What can say?!? i ve been with HDMC for only 2 months,, and i quit,, coz the teachers are always absent, and the staff are so unprofessional. IF i were you those who wants to become an LVN.. there's alot of reputable school in California..dont waste your time and your money to go to this NEVER HEARD school..
Im not hating.. im just telling the truth.. and sharing the Good News..:) PEACE
I DID GRADUADED IN ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTIC PROGRAM 2204-2006 , FIRST PILOT CLASS AND. I DID LEARN ALOT IN THIS PROGRAM .., WAS DIFFICULT BUT WE DID LEARNING , WHEN WE START THE CLASS WE HAD A EXCELLENT & EXPERIENCED ULTRASOUND INSTRUCTOR I STILL REMEMBER HER NAME RONNIE VELAVERDE... & SHE WAS CERTIFIED WITH YEARS OF EXPERIENCED .MY PROBLEM WAS AND IS THAT I DON'T HAD THE MONEY TO PAY THE BALANCE REMANING . SO THE SCHOOL IS STILL HOLDING MY DIPLOMA..I DID HAD ALOT OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH DOCTOR'S AND FOR NORTHRIDGE HOSPITAL ...BUT ..BECAUSE I DON'T HAD A COPY OF THE DIPLOMA ...I CAN'T WORK IN THIS FIELD....BUT TODAY I HAD MORE THAT 45 % TO PAY MY REMAINING BALANCE AND I HOPE THAT A LEAST THE SCHOOL CAN GIVE ME A COPY OF THE DIPLOMA ...SO I CAN GO TO WORK AND PAID THE REST OF THE MONEY....ALL SCHOOL HAD A BAD REPUTATION & IS FOR THE STUDENT TO CHANGE THAT .A CLASSMATE SHE GRADUADED WITH ME ...SHE IT'S WORKING IN ULTRASOUND SOME PLACE IN SAN DIEGO...I STILL STUDYING AND REVIEW MY CLASS NOTES ..PREPARING MYSELF FOR THE ARDMS... ULTRASOUND IT'S NOT EASY AND AT FIRST WHEN YOU START WITHOUT A EXPERIENCED IT;S DIFFICULT . DON'T GIVE UP........SINCERLY ...ELIZABETH
Pros: GOOD TEACHER, I DID LEARNING....
Cons: I DON'T HAD MONEY TO PAID THE FULL BALANCE, BUT I HAD 45%
The cost for programs is a lot cheaper but the school has a bad reputation any where you go. It's not really worth saving that amount. Their medical programs are not excepted at major hospitals in area. Be sure the program is acredited before you throw your money away. The school is very dirty and their so called teachers are not always certified like they say they are. Phony school!!! Everyone seems nice at first but you find out they only want to make $ and no guarantee you will have a job. Most of their students don't end up qualifying for a job (that is more than 75%) So be very very careful what program you choose. I suggest you call facilities (depending on your program of interest) to see what they think of the school and if you will qualify for a job after you finish their program. You may save a few dollars here and there for the program but when you are finished you realize that your certificate is not valid and your $ used is not good enough for a job. I recommend you go elsewhere or you'll end up throwing your $ away!!
Pros: cheap program
Cons: not accredited / bad reputation/ teachers are not experienced
