.

I gave him one star only because leaving it blank was not an option. My appt. was at 1130am for a bankruptcy. My husband and I checked in with the receptionist(who said he was on the phone, which we'll discover later was a lie) and grabbed a seat no later than 1128am. He came and got us at 1145am, not a bad wait, although I don't think he should have been making or receiving calls when he was supposed to be in an appt. with us. So anyways he greets me, and my husband and I follow him to his office. As we were entering he says, " Who's this?" , referring to my husband. Rather abrupt and sort of rude but eh...not too bad, YET. I explain and we get seated. Almost before any info. is obtained from us he says, exact words, " What's with the glasses?" , as if he's been offended is some way. Apparently we still had our sunglasses on because not only were we outside but his lobby is rather bright as well and hadn't had a chance to take them off. We didn't think anything of it, until his remark. Then he rudely explains further something about how it's etiquette to remove your sunglasses when your inside, or something. We should've left then. I understand what he was saying but WE were the clients who were going to potentially buy something from him not the other way around where he would need to see OUR eyes. So after being repremanded like little children and removing our glasses we gave him our info. He's telling us we don't need it but after doing lots of research we told him we wanted to continue anyways and we believe it's the best option for us. During the whole info. gathering section of this visit he was condescending almost the whole time. He would make stupid comments like well..." it doesn't cover future debts..." and how we didn't need it because creditors weren't harassing us. As if we thought it eliminated all of our future debts.( We really believe he made this comment assuming because we are poor that we'll continue to accrue more debt, like we could get a loan at this point )As if the only reason we wanted it, was to stop harassing phone calls. What about starting over after the housing crash? Come on! He thought we were idiots and treated us as such. So just like a slimey, scumbag used car salesman he writes a price on a piece of paper and slides it over to us. The cost? $3,000 ?!? Outrageous! (1. THEE most expensive attorney we've spoken with at this point is $1,800( Brian Barta is almost twice that amount for the same amount of work) (2. if we had that kind of cash on hand, especially these days, we wouldn't be filing for bankruptcy (3. because our case is sooo easy, as we've discovered and have been told by other attorneys. After being insulted by the way over inflated price sheet my hubbys first reaction, and breaking point with this guy, was , "no way, you're out of your mind!" We said thank you and got up to leave. When we were already outside the door Brian Barta stood up and said, "how dare you insult a professional. You guys are so rude I wouldn't WANT you as clients. Goodluck finding an attorney..!!" So sarcastic and rude again! Some other words were exchanged but we eventually left. Unbelievable but I couldn't make it up. After being antagonized by this guy the entire interview how could you blame my hubby for that reaction? Afterall the guy was trying to flat out rob us. He had the audacity to call us rude, and say we don't have proper etiquette?? And about the "phone call" he was on. When we walked into his office we saw some socks and shoes on the ground with a knapsack of sorts and a blanket on the couch. We immediately came to the same conclusion that he HADN'T been on the phone at all. The reason we had been waiting for our appt. was because he was sleeping!! In his office!? He had the disheveled hair and everything. What an unprofessional douchbag! Would recommend staying far away from this guy. To reitterate: He was condescending, rude, treated us like idiots, tried to way over charge us, unprofessional, and repremanded us like children. Maybe if this guy treated ppl. right and straightened up his s**t he would make some money and wouldn't have to sleep in his office.
