Alegria's fish tacos  5 Star Rating - World class

Best I've ever had, and usually filled with red snapper, mahi mahi, or salmon. Perfect amount of spiciness and always plenty of filling to complement the delicious black beans and vegan rice. Bring some beer if you're so inclined, because they're BYOB and they don't charge a fee. Really nice staff, too.

Still Going Strong  4 Star Rating - Very good

Alegria is still the same reliable source of hearty, fresh Mexican fare. Dining in the cozy restaurant is a pleasure, for sure. But take-out burritos have recently become my weekly treat. I just haven't come across a better burrito in Los Angeles. Take your pick: Alexis, Veggie or Chicken. They all burst at the seams and you can taste each one of the fresh ingredients in isolation. And yet, together, the ingredients form a delicious, coherent whole. They complement their take-outs with a generous bag of tortilla chips and a pot of salsa, which makes the whole package a wonderful sub-$10 meal for those evenings when you're too lazy or tired to cook.

Alegria on Sunset is fantabulastic  5 Star Rating - World class

Who would have expected a fine dining in a run-down strip mall? :) Well, Alegria surely surprised me. I was offered an excellent modern take on Mexican classics - tortilla soups, tacos a la crema, snow crab enchiladas, tamale pies,
burritos, fish tacos, carne asadas and oh-so-good Alegria specials. Don't foget their fresh alcohol-free fruit juices and smoothies. The stuff is super-friendly and the prices are very very reasonable.

PROS: tasty, fresh and healthy
CONS: Cash Only

By all outside appearances, you might think you are in for a night of cheap, not-so-good mexican food. The restaurant sits in a typical LA strip mall with some trashy thrift stores and dominos pizza. BUT...proceed to go in and dine on fab-flavored mexican dishes. This isn't your typical menu as they add a lot of interesting variations to southwestern food. Tip 1: Try the mole sauce. Tip 2: Bring your own booze. Tip 3: Prepare to wait a bit for a table. This is a small dining room.
