wow! this place sounds so unappealing I am some how curious to visit the place to see how the experience may be. Going tomarrow...will update status of customer experience

Of 10 shoe replaces I have visited to get shoe sole material for development of a commercial product (with success at several places), this store was the least helpful. The woman at the desk rudely told me that they did not sell material with giving me any chance to explain what I wanted.

I just read the "Jekyll and Hyde" reviews of Piedmont Cobblers and didn't recognize the business that the complainers described. I have taken several pairs of shoes to be repaired there. Each time I have been treated very politely, and I have been pleased with both the quality and the reasonable price of the repair. In short, I have never seen the Hyde side of the staff. I recommend that you try Piedmont Cobblers and expect Jekyll.

I have never been treated as poorly as I was at Piedmont Cobblers. I took a pair of shoes there that needed a new shank. When I mentioned that I had brought them to Piedmont Cobbler's once before and was concerned that the shank was broken again, they started to yell at me....really. They yelled at me. The husband in back starting yelling that I was crazy and when I told the daughter that they were being rude, she told me to "shut up." Needless to say, I left with my broken shoes, and will never return again.

I have to say that I also had a really bad experience the last time I went to the Piedmont Cobbler. I had been three times before b/c the husband always did a nice job on my re-soles. The last time I went in I made a half-joking remark that the resole job for a pair of boots + insoles was going to cost more than the boots cost themselves and the wife just lost it. She became very angry to the point of yelling at me. I finally left and told her she just lost a good customer. What's worse is that I left before noticing that my insoles weren't installed. I thought about going back for them but didn't since I didn't want to deal with this woman again.

I also had a good first experience with this business, but my next encounter was bizarrely bad, and I would never recommend this business to anyone. When I returned at the agreed upon date to collect a pair of shoes I had left to be re-soled, I was told by the previously mentioned "lady at the front counter" that the shoes would not be ready for another day or two. Though I had left my cell phone number and a $60 deposit, there was no explanation or apology for why I had not been previously informed of the delay. When I asked for a discount to compensate for my inconvenience (any amount would have sufficed), I was told that full price would be charged and that I could "take it or leave it". I explained how bad this attitude is for business, and that it confirmed negative comments I had read on this website. The response was "If you read those bad things on the internet, why did you come here?" My explanation that I was a neighbor wishing to support local business drew no response. I left with my half-finished shoes and $60 deposit, and will never return again.

My 1st and last visit here was great. I had a fun talk with the woman at the front counter and felt very excited when I left. Fast forward a week later, today as a matter of fact, and WOW I was amazed. The same lady was confusingly rude. She explained she is very busy so I assumed that this attitude stemed from that, but still unaccusable. She flat out told me they did want to fix my boots after all and that I can come pick them and my deposit up. I asked why she said that the repair man has back problems and did not want to do the job afterall. She admitted that I would not have known this had I have not called. She was not apologtic at all, merely consumed in her own selfish feelings and that came across pretty harsh to me. I believe this lady will realize her actions on the phone were out of line. Mind you this is a short version of all that happened.

I take all my shoes to Piedmont Cobblers Shoe Repair. I get quick, friendly service, and my shoes are always in wonderful shape when I get them back. These folks will go the extra mile on repairs. They've completely refurbished boots that were a disaster(!) and done a beautiful job for me on all my repairs. Highly recommended.

I took in two pairs of shoes to be shined and they told me to come back in 3 days to pick them up. Upon arrival I learned that no one had touched my shoes, they were thrown in the corner and they told me to come back in an hour to pick them up. I took some time out of my schedule to pick them up and that at least be consistent with customer expectations. They proceeded to give my shoes back to me in the same condition as when I dropped them off. I guess there wasn't much money in just shining shoes a couple pairs of shoes any more and the little guy doesn't get much on Peidmont Ave. This business if off my list- and all I really ask for is for a little social grace and some sembelence of service.
