I had to bring my cat in who has had prior history of stomach problems..and recently the problems seems to be resurfacing. The doctor there is Dr. Cruz...I was scared because I went to him because other Vets who were close to me, were booked or simply closed because it was the weekend and I was taking a chance. Dr. Cruz and his staff were very kind, caring and professional and explained what my options are. They treated my cat as if she was their own family cat. Long story short...I wish I had been going to him when I first moved to Simi....this is a top notch Vet for sure.

Beware. Make sure you ask for all pricing up front. My black lab got a fishing hook stuck in her side and we took her to American Veterinary Hospital because it was close and we were new to town. They said it would take surgery to remove, though it was just into the skin, and that they would have to sedate her and keep her for at least a couple of hours. We left her and drove home. About 15 minutes after dropping her off they called to say she was ready to be picked up. The bill was $800.00. The dog was wide awake when we picked her up and she had no stitches. They apparently waited until we left and simply clipped and removed the hook as we had expected them to do in the first place.

We recently had the most unfortunate experience of having to put to sleep our beloved boy. Dr. Cruz and staff were utterly fantastic. The knowledge imparted and the kindness provided were amazing. Having gone to a couple of other clinics when our boy was sick we will now never go anywhere else. Compassionate top quality care and services.

I cannot thank Dr. Luis Cruz for his warm manner and expertise and thank his staff enough for their kindness and patience with me while caring for my older German Shepard, Manny who had many problems. Manny needs lots of TLC and that is what he got and then some. I am forever grateful to Dr. Cruz and his staff for recognizing my nervousness and being attentive to the fact that Manny may require a great deal of patience in handling. His staff was also very professional as well as friendly. For Manny, there is no other place that I would ever bring him to but American Veterinary. Thanks Dr. Cruz, you're the best!

This is the best veterinary hospital I have ever been to! Dr. Cruz is very knowledgable and caring. Dr. Binder is extremely devoted to her patients. I love this place, and the attention they provide. They call you back after any "sick" visits to follow up and see how your pet is doing, and they have a 24 hour answering service that allows you to speak with a veterinarian anytime. It's good to know that I don't have to make the trip to an emergency animal hospital for something that really could have waited till the morning for Dr. Cruz or Dr. Binder. They also have a surgeon on staff who can do complicated surgeries there. The other vet I went to sent me all the way to Ventura! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants top quality care for their pet!
