Purchased a $100 pair of Keen hiking boots but got a bad production run. The threads around the toes gave way, and after just a few short months of casual street use, they failed. I took them back to the Concord store where I purchased them. With a receipt, these barely worn hiking shoes were not returnable and the very indignant sales manager of the store threatened to call security if I did not "take my stinky boots" out of the store. I've never been treated this poorly in 45 years of retail experience. Their return policy for an outdoor store is a joke. They are arrogant and unreasonable. No wonder they are down from 14 stores to six poorly run poorly performing stores now. If you need outdoor gear, do yourself a favor and go to REI or even Big Five, where you will be treated like a customer, and not public enemy #1. Also AM's prices are not good and their sales staff is neither knowledgeable nor particularly helpful. They will go the way of Good Guys, Circuit City, and CompUSA very shortly. Trust me on this one.

Any Mountain pretty much has everything for your outdoor needs. The staff is usually helpful, if not a bit too eager to greet you. This could just be a personal preference of mine. There store is pretty big, especially by downtown Berkeley standards. They also have a giant parking lot right in front. Also a Berkeley rarity.
