I walked into BC with the intention of grabbing a quick drink on a hot afternoon. I came across a fun, hopping unique restaurant. I grabbed my wife and we had dinner. The portions were huge. Every meal came with a greek salad or salad bar.

Went to BC this past saturday after the U2 concert at the Rose Bowl. The food was excellent. I had a Greek chicken pizza and my wife had the chicken kebab dish. The amount of included extras and their QUALITY is what impressed us. I was so stuffed that i have not eaten anything today and it is almost 5 pm on sunday. WE were just talkng and we will have our daughter's b-day party their next week. I am sure my family will get a kick out of the live music and the wonderful atmosphere.

My only complaint about this place is that it has the wrong name. Their burgers are "ordinary" at best -- but who likes burgers anyway? What this place is great for is its Mediteranean and Middle Eastern dishes. My Armenian friends were the first ones to bring me here. Its definitely an experience to dine here weekend evenings. Big crowds, belly dancers, cheap beer. I love the the Greek souvlaki and their Lebananese Kabobs.

This is the most horrible restaurant i have ever been to. This is an insult to armenian food. There are so many better armenian restaurants. i don't understand what people like.....anyway, waste of money and my waste of time. even the french fries were terrible.

I have become an avid fan of this fine establishment. IT is a place were I can pop in and get great food and outstanding prices. They have an extensive menu and have all types of dishes from steaks to kebabs to exotic greek dishes. I always feel special every time I go in because of how well they know me and really make me feel welcome. It is an experiance that you do not get at many other restaurants.

Very friendly waiters ? the owner is extremely nice as well and greets a lot of guests who come the restaurant?

My daughter goes to Polytechnic School and Burger Continental has this deal called the ?Poly Special? and students can get a Burgers/Fries/Drink meal for only $2.00!

Very friendly neighborhood restaurant in the middle of Lake Avenue! Next to lots of nice shops ? perfect for an afternoon!

I went to Burger Continetal For the first time this weekend. Firends had told me that it is one of the oldest restaurants in Pasadena and they had a good time. We had a spectacular time. The Chicken Corinthian was fresh and flavorful, it truly did feel like there was a party in my mouth. My wife enjoyed the Salmon. In addition to the very generous portions where else do you get a dinner salad and appetizers at no charge. The place had good live entertainment with a greek band.
I am Sold on this place and now I know how this place has been there for so long.

Despite the name, most people don't actually go to Burger Continental for burgers...at least I never have. Sure...they have burgers...and many different kinds. I recommend going with friends and ordering from the Feast menus...they give you the most variety. If you've never tried Middle Eastern cuisine or Armenian or Greek...the Feast menus let you try all sorts of things. There's chicken, beef, lamb and shrimp. Unless you enjoy "close quarters" dining, I would recommend going on a non-weekend night because it gets very crowded. Also, if you're looking for a quiet date place...this is NOT it. It gets loud...especially if you're sitting anywhere near the speakers on the "patio".

I will never go to BC again. The salad bar looked as though the food had been sitting for hours in its own ranch-like dressing. The selection was limited and unappealing. The only actual fresh "salad" item offered was a mix of greens containing mostly cabbage and some iceberg. Other salad bar items were unidentifiable and were soaked drenched in a ranch-like dressing. I ordered some sort of spiced meat pita wrap and had to send it back because my meat was not fully cooked. I reluctantly ate my new, freshly cooked wrap (well done) but the experience had already been ruined. Plus, there are pigeons everywhere. Will not go back.

I have been a patron of the establishment for the past 35 years. I have not been to a better mediterranian restaurant. I had them cater my wedding and got great reviews. The food is fresh and has great taste. The prices are low and do not be surpirsed to see a celebrity in a corner. I will continue to drive from Beverly Hills at least once a month to enjoy one of LA's best restaurants.

Went to BC last year for the first time and the food was mixed. My husband's meat dish was good but my seafood was totally not fresh and not well prepared. Went to a function last week where BC catered the food and ended up in the ER. I discover that 15 others from the function also came down ill. While I have no hard proof but I think the sheer numbers of sick people speaks for itself. Never eating their food again.

I think that this place is really good for large groups. I went here for my college graduation party with my family and it was a party of about 30 people. Granted we did arrange everything in advance but they were really accommodating. The food was delicious (it just kept coming) and everyone had a really great time. I have to say I liked the Armenian food better than the burgers, but everything was good!

To be fair, I will say that my husband had a nice time at Burger Continental.

I, however, have very little good to report. My rant begins now.

We optioned to sit in the back patio. We were seated in a cramped corner located too closely to the blaring sound system of the live music. There were some large groups with children also occupying the patio, which made me feel as if I was interrupting someone else's party.

The paper menus were stained, sticky, and ripped. Complimentary tortilla chips were hard as nails and flavorless. The salad bar, located in a narrow and crowded hallway, looked overly picked at and offered too many cold pasta options and not enough fresh vegetables.

My husband ordered a burger. An enormous, unshaped beef patty with shredded cheddar cheese on top served with shoestring fries was placed in front of him. My lamb chop dinner was served on three separate plates. Bland hummus, gooey eggplant dip, and a stack of not-so-fresh pita bread covered Plate One. Plate Two was heaped with ordinary rice pilaf and a cold pasta side salad which I already tasted from the salad bar. Plate Three somehow managed to fit four lamb chops, a mound of grilled onions, gravy, mashed potatoes (under the lamb chops), grilled squashed, a whole grilled tomato, and quesadilla-like "square" on it.

With so much food presented, I dutifully tasted a bite of everything, but ended up enjoying next to nothing. After one and half lamb chops, I wasn't full, but I didn't want to eat any more of what was in front of me, either.

I boxed up my leftovers, but couldn't even get myself to look at the food the next day, let alone eat it. I would have rather not gone to Burger Continental at all.

With all of that being said, I can still see how this restaurant might be appealing for people who just want to let their hair down and eat a very large meal for a reasonable price.

The choice is yours.

First of all,let me say, living in the Pasadena area for 40 years more than qualifies
me to chime in on the famous (Or infamous) BC's as locals call it.
Last time I was there,I played it safe by ordering the Tues. cheesburger
special.It is a miniscule,lousy thing with limp fries but for 3.50? a bargain.Make
sure to bring tums. The others in my large party were not so clever and ordered
various inedibles such as a Philly Cheese steak which was urecognizable
as such,a chicken cordon-something with marinara sauce which was slathered in deep fry grease. This was a peptic abomination, and left unfinished like the other meals. Other memorable culinary atrocities were the chines chicken salad whose wontons were upon closer inspection actually toasted pieces of lavosh bread
with a negligible amount of chicken. The middle eastern plates curiously were accompanied with basmati rice.
Not one of my party of ten liked their dishes, including me who ate namsake "Burger"
We all were joking and making fun of the food and the owner heard us.He took care of us by sending more food!! which went uneaten,of course.Followed by stale cake for dessert which went uneaten also.I give him credit for trying but a refund might have been more appropriate.
The restaurant is very unsanitary,it is a joke among locals who wonder how it stays in business. One night I was there with girlfriend who had the salad bar which had
some spoiled things in it that made her lose her appetite.
All in all,thumbs down,BC.

I enjoyed the place overall, but felt a little strange about how cleanly the place was. Overall on ok experience. I'd go back for the cheap beer.

PROS: variety, laidback atmosphere, price

The lamb here is very tasty. I recommend the Sunday buffet, for about $13, you get omelettes (made to order), baklava, chocolate-covered strawberries, variety of meats (including the lamb), and anything else you could want.

There has been live entertainment just about everytime I've been there -- sometimes there is a bellydancer!

In spite of the name, the best thing about this place is the middle eastern food. The Mon and Tues $2 burger special is great for students (burger, fries and bottomless soft drink), but the breakfast buffet (all week) which includes shish kebab, fresh fruit and baklava in addition to eggs, sausage and bacon (about $5) is amazing. They also have an all-you-can-eat buffet lunch for about $8 weekdays and Sat which is huge! It even includes made to order pizzas which is great if you have a kid not into homous and shish kebab. I have friends who have moved elsewhere that always have "BCs" on their must go to list whenever they are in Pasadena and for good reason!

Burger Continental has been around at least since the 80's. Owned by 2 Greek brothers they started out as tiny little patio burger cafe. In the past 20 years they have expanded their patio and started a weekend brunch tradition with the locals. Order your favorite green salad or cheeseburger and get some chips with Greek salsa or a Falafal on the side. The Middle Eastern food here is great, no one has better humas. The atmosphere is fun, great for all ages, service is quick, feel free to ask for side dishes or additional condiments to your burger. You wont forget your experience and will want to go time and time again. At night there is music, also order your favorite pitcher of beer! Prices cant be beat, lots of parking.

PROS: Excellent Middle Eastern/Greek American food & ambience
CONS: Nothing

After hearing raves about this place, I wholly expected fresh burgers with delicious sides. But as soon I took a bite into my Western BBQ cheeseburger, I was quickly let down. The meat was old and had a distinct aftertaste -- perhaps it was overcooked.... The fries were disappointing as well. The prices though are a great deal -- all you can eat salad with a burger for around $7. But the catch is that the salad bar is limited - more ethnic food than anything. If you come here - come for the ethnic dishes -- not the "burgers" at Burger Continental....

Despite the name, their burgers are just ok. I can see that we ordered the wrong thing, seeing how everyone here raves about the more ethnic dishes. As to their burgers, we ordered ours with mushrooms and got some of the canned variety -- not too appetizing. We looked around and saw other dishes, and a lot of people here, so I'm chalking this one up to poor ordering. Can't blame us for being fooled by the name! The service was great, though.
I came here for their breakfast buffet, and it was mediocre. The tongs were placed inside the covered food trays, so it was difficult to get your food without getting burned. When you sat down to eat it, you realize that the food isn't that great. Only good thing was the price, $4.99.

This restaurant is a terrific choice for a guys breakfast out, a ladies lunch break, and a family dinner. The entrees are delicious. I enjoy greek food, and appreciate the number of entrees they serve. Indoor and outdoor seating are available. The entree prices are reasonable, and the portions are large. Burger Continental is located on south Lake Avenue, a little above California.

I've been to this restaurant several times as I just work down the street. I'll order my food and pick it up-- which is usually a gyro or a kabob. I've also placed large orders for take out. To be honest, I like the food, which is usually cooked well. The salads that sit out buffet style don't always look fresh, and the service doesn't seem to be as friendly as I've had at other restaurants. When the restaurant isn't smokey from the grill, it's usually kind of stale smelling, which can make wanting to eat the food unappetizing. Nonetheless, I still go there -- but I probably wouldn't sit down to eat there.

We took a friend of ours to this place so that he could try some Mediterranean food and had the worst experience. The first time we were seated, they asked that our party of 7 relocate to another table. Before we were finished with our dinner, they started to hose down the floor with some chemicals that smelled like ****. When we asked the men to stop washing the floors while we were still eating, they pretended not the hear us. Granted right after I walked up to the manager and complained of the service and mentioned the low tip that would be left if they didn't stop, he immediately instructed the men to stop. Isn't there some FDA regulation that applies to this?

The first time we were seated, they asked that our party of 7 relocate to another table. Before we were finished with our dinner, they started to hose down the floor with some chemicals that smelled like ****. When we asked the men to stop washing the floors while we were still eating, they pretended not the hear us. Granted right after I walked up to the manager and complained of the service and mentioned the low tip that would be left if they didn't stop, he immediately instructed the men to stop. Isn't there some FDA regulation that applies to this?

Cons: rude staff, overrated food

BC is known for the belly dancing, but you know the dancers don't feast at the weekend brunch buffet like real patrons. Salads of tomato, cucumber, onions and feta, deep fried meatballs, spinach and cheese pies, yigendes (those big lima-like beans), fried potatoes, stifado, dolmades, and egg plant parmesan. That's what I eat, and I skip some trays. The only thing holding BC back is that the quality of service suffers in comparison with the quality of the food.

I can appreciate everyone elses reviews, but my experience here was a HUGE negative. We went in after work to have a few drinks and dinner. They served the beer we ordered in these large plastic glasses, which we thought was a little weird. When we were ready to pay our bill and leave they tried to charge us for the glasses, saying that they were ours to keep and we had to pay for them. When we told them we didn't want them, they got very irritated and started yelling. We couldn't believe it. Nobody told us that we had to pay for the glasses (it added about $50 to our bill), and when we explained that we didn't want them, they freaked out. It gave our entire group the feeling they were trying to screw us. We left very pissed off and have never been back.
