3 Stars: Not sure why so many of my friends love this place (by Lauren M.)

Maybe it's just me- but I've never thought that Surfside Sushi was up to par with other sushi spots in San Diego.

It's not that bad- just nothing special and when I go out for sushi I want special.

My suspicion is that it's a bit less expensive than Sushi Ota, Zenbu and Sushi on the Rocks and that's why so many of my friends are fans.

I don't throw money around but fresh sushi is worth paying for imho.

4 Stars: Good for the Price (by richard p.)

I'm a sushi fanatic so basing this place off of the food alone I don't think I would have given it 4 starts. However the prices are really fare and the service although not super friendly is really fast. Also convenience wise its great, not to mention it's open late and right on mission so overall if it's late and you got a sushi craving that you can't help surfside works well.

5 Stars: arigato (by grace w.)

The sushi here is very good. This is no imitation sushi, the owners are employees are japanese and japanese-speaking. i recommend the shrimp tempura roll and the eel roll. There is also half off on mondya nights, which is a very goodd eal sicne the sushi isn't expensive anyway.

5 Stars: Enjoy sushi happy hour! (by Tiffany P.)

Surfside has become somewhat of a tradition for my graduate school class. We try to meet here every few weeks to keep in touch outside of school. The most popular time to dine here is Monday at 6pm for sushi happy hour, when rolls are marked down to half price each week. The atmosphere is loud and fun, and the deals are worth the wait in often long lines. Our favourite by far is one of their specialties, the delicious crunchy roll.
