FYI, The owners and staff of Cyclepath Hayward at 22510 Foothill Blvd are new as of May 19, 2009. The old owners and staff have moved down the block to 22420 Foothill Blvd and have renamed the business Hayward Bicycles. I felt I should mention that here as it looks like Hayward Bicycles has been catching some reviews on insiderpages that they do not deserve. So, if you see a review written after May 18, 2009 about Cyclepath Hayward, it's on the new owners of Cyclepath Hayward NOT Hayward Bicycles. A bit confusing, yes, but it should be known. Hayward Bicycles definitely has the staff and mechanics who know their stuff and can help any cyclist. They are my go to shop! The rating I am giving here is neutral as I have nothing against Cyclepath Hayward, I just wanted to set the record straight.

Business Response:

Thanks Aurthur S. for trying to straighten out this reveiw mess. In May 2009, the former occupants and employee of Cyclepath Hayward, moved down the street and opened Hayward Bicycles. Cyclepath Hayward has been under new ownership since then. For some reason, Insiderpages has confused us, Hayward Bicycles, with Cyclepath Hayward.

I bought my TREK at this establishment. How they became an authorized dealer I will never know, they couldn't repair my bike correctly. I couldn't even get the components or tires I needed. Do not go to this store. Staff is ignorant they have no idea what they are selling, so save yourself some time and go elsewhere. I do

Business Response:

Cyclepath Hayward is NOT an Authorized Trek Dealer! Hayward Bicycles Is! First off, this review was meant for Cyclepath Hayward, not Hayward Bicycles. For some reason, Insiderpages has confused us, Hayward Bicycles, with Cyclepath Hayward. Unfortunately, Cyclepath Hayward has not been an authorized Trek Dealer since May 2009. That is when new owners took over the Cyclepath business and the former occupants moved down the street to open Hayward Bicycles. Along with them went the local Trek dealership. Cyclepath retained some of the old Trek inventory and it appears to have sold them off without notifying the unsuspecting customers who purchased them that they were not actual dealers, as it seems what has happened in your case. If anyone has happened to purchased a Trek, Electra or Raleigh bicycle from Cyclepath Hayward after May 2009, feel free to bring any warranty issues you might have to Hayward Bicycles. Being authorized dealers for those brands, we can handle all mfg issues, whereas, Cyclepath Hayward not being dealers for those brands, cannot.

Horrible customer service. Way over priced! Rude owners. Tried to tell me my bike had a bent wheel. Bike is in great condition just needs a gear tune.

This is a huge store with a large selection of adult and children bikes of all types. You can find everything from dirt bikes to mountain bikes and beach cruisers. It is a nice store, but shop around. I believe thier prices are on the high side.

Business Response:

This review does belong to Hayward Bicycles. This review was placed BEFORE the new owners took over Cyclepath and when the employees of Hayward Bicycles worked at Cyclepath! Our new store is still pretty huge you can still find dirt bikes to mountain bikes and beach cruisers. We now have plenty of parking and a front and rear entrances. Our prices are also much more competitive as well. Check us out!

Getting back into Mtn biking - been out for a while. Looking for a shop to get upgraded parts, maint and etc..

Asked some basic questions about hitch mount bike racks - they didn't have much knowledge and limited products. This is a Big Shop.

Not sure if it was the owner or not - but took bike in for a tuneup and asked a few questions about my front shocks ( blew the elastomers out 2 weeks before ) and wanted to know if repairable. I was told parts are unavailable and would have to buy new forks.

I questioned this and HE was quite Snotty about it - After looking at some $400-600 shocks - figured id wait. Company called Wings on the internet happily sold me a spring convrsion /replacements kit for $35.

Reguarding the Tune-up On my first ride the Front deraileurr dropped my chain 4-5 times -NEVER EVER happened before the tuneup. Overall shifting front and rear is sloppy and have since retuned it myself. Wheels needed trueing - they're straight - but still flexing under a serious pump - Not happy with paying $70 and getting a week tuneup.

I have always tuned my bike myself but figured I'd give them a shot and if it was good - save me some time and prove resonable test.

I understand that my shocks are old ( 95 Judy XC ) but I repaired them and plan on passing them onto my Wife's bike- quite frankly - they still ride pretty well.

I understand that not everyone knows all the in's n out's of bike racks.

But add the limited knowledge of bike racks, initial snottyness reguarding shocks, lack of knowledge on Camelbak accesories and quite frankly performed a really poor tuneup on my bike -

I'll never go back.

PS - none of the components on my bike are worn out - it has been meticously maintained and consists of XT, XTR running gear, XTR brakes, LX hubs and Crankset etc.

Aside from the wheels being straighter - my bike ran worse after the tuneup.

Pros: Big Shop - Seemed to have some nice bike's for sale

Cons: Front sales needs help, lose the attitude, need better tech service
