The health care experience depends on who you deal with, the complexity of your condition, and in some cases your coverage for drugs, etc. Most encounters will go smoothly, but the co-pay accounts for a trivial amount of the actual cost of delivering the care. It is totally unrealistic to think that Kaiser wants to generate more visits in order to collect the co-pay. Drug coverage varies tremendously and impacts what a person is willing to buy for chronic conditions. This fact is not unique to Kaiser health plan and affects all types of health plans.

Kaiser the largest group of hospital in medical services is on an average. Treatment given to adult and pediatrics differ here. They give more attention and advice to pediatric on time where as for adult it is not timely. Specially gyn. it is very difficult to get the appointment of your provider is he/she is popular.

If you want a REAL doctor, who cares about your health more than meeting a patient quota, go somewhere, ANYWHERE, other than Kaiser Permanente HMO. Most of the time, they don't even treat you, but refer you to some other doctor (within their organization), and then, you guessed it: they get you for ANOTHER co-pay on the appt with the other doctor. Save your time, your money, and your health, and vote for another health care provider with your benefits dollars for next year.
PROS: None
CONS: Take your money; give you no care.

I went to the San Jose Kaiser to get contact lenses. Contacts are usually not covered by insurance so I believe kaiser welcomes nonmembers. The prices are a little more expensive than going to Costco. Plus, Kaiser does not sell all the major contact brands(i.e. Accuvue). In order to get my contacts, I had to go 3 times just to get them. There was an initital check of my eyes, then a "fitting," then finally a check up to see how my eyes were doing. I have been told Costco only requires 2 visits to get contacts. The doctors are friendly, but it is obvious that they are trying to sell you the more expensive products.

To my disappointment, they were booked up heavily and I could barely stand to wait another second because I had a really bad stomach ache. I was forced to go back on another day when the condition had worsened. The only good thing about Kaiser is the late hours that they are open. The doctor also forgot to return my calls at least twice regarding letting me know the test results
