Took my 9 week old puppy there. While we waited forever, I was sitting on a chair and my puppy under the chair between my legs. Two dogs on the way out attacked my dog visciously. My pup barely survived and NO ONE in the office did anything nor did the owners. Once in an exam room, I waited for so long I thought they'd never come in. I don't remember which vet examined my dog. The vet was nice, the location doesn't bother me, the staff was rude which is unacceptable, the wait was hours which I knew up front. It was just too filthy for me to return and I didn't feel that my animals were safe there. Since at the time I didn't own a Bulldog I made the decision I will never go here again. Yes, pay a lot more elsewhere but for me, it is worth it!

I just went here for the first time April 13th and had a crop job done on my pit bull. I arrived early before they were open and yes there's a line (people don't wait in line for bad vets!) A soon as they opened it took probably 20 minutes before I was seen. Dr. Butchko seemed to act as if I was kind of clueless but I was ok with that because atleast he explained everything very well incase I really had no idea. The prices are excellent and her ears so far look amazing. Today 20th her cone came off her head and I paniced and called their office. I was told no problem bring her down and at no extra costs they would retape them. I'm not sure why people are so hung up on apperance of the office, id rather have my vet spend the money on the animals then a fancy building. As a first time customer I'm very happy and will be bringing my other animals as well. I also drive from Hesperia so that's no small drive! Ignore the bad reviews! ****ALSO TO PEOPLE CONCERNED ABOUT THE BAD BREEDERS AND SICK PUPPIES- ADOPT A PUPPY/DOG/CAT FROM THE SHELTER AND SAVE A LIFE!!!!***

Dr. Butchko gave my so-called experienced breeder, Phyllis Henderson, owner of PJ's Pugs, a clean bill of health for our puppy. We were concerned about her being healthyas she was the runt of the litter, but Phyllis guaranteed that Dr. Butchko said her breathing ailments were due to a cold and so he put her on an antibiotic for a virus, which has no effect as antibiotics treat bacteria, not viruses. After having her home for five days, we took her to our vet for her first puppy exam, and he immediately showed concern for her labored breathing. He recommended we try to get our money back as we were sold a dog with congenital defects or exchange our beloved puppy for a healthy one. Our vet also told us to throw-out all of the meds given to us by our breeder from Dr. Butchko as there is absolutely no purpose for them.

If Dr. Butchko had done his job and not simply signed-off our puppy as healthy (and if Phyllis Henderson were a more competent breeder when it comes to sick puppies), then we would not be in the disparaging situation that we are in. We love our puppy, and it's sad and stressful to know that her life expectancy will not be what a typical pugs is and that we have a future of pricey vet bills ahead of us.

I have been to Dr.Butchko a few times and the service has always been moderate but today it was absoulutely horrible. We signed in and they did not call us untill two hours later and that was after asking them what was going on. When we were finally sent into a room the employees did not address us at all and we sat in the room for almost an hour. We did not receive any updates on what was going on or how much longer we may have to wait and when I asked we asked we received little information. The service is attrocious and I do not recommend this veterenarian to anyone.

BEST EVER! My Great Dane was sick at 6 months old. I had to take him to another vet because it was after hours for Dr. Butchko and he was in the hospital for 3 days and it cost over $3,000.00 and we got no diagnosis. At 1 year the dog had a relapse. I took him to Dr. Butchko's office. They did some blood work, put him on meds and by that night he was feeling better. The blood work came back negative and he was diagnost with an infection and it all cost less than $400.00. I will not take my animals anywhere else.

EXCELLENT! AllI can is those of you who are complaining are fools. Butchko is by far the best bulldog specialist in California. I know people who have driven from Arizona, Nevada and San Fran to see this vet. I myself have driven 2 hrs one way on three occassions to have my bulldog treated by Dr. Buthcko. In each case he was very thorough, sympathetic and precise. I could not ask for a better vet. He is also very reasonably priced. I cannot say enough nice things about this man. There are other vets whom work there as well, and these vets could be who these complaining whinning people are talking about.

I was extremely pleased with the care our dog received at Dr. Butchko's. We arrived at 7:45 and were 4th in line. When the doors opened we had no wait because there were 4 receptionists. They signed us in quickly, gave us an initial exam, and our dog was neutered and released to us by 1 pm.

The staff was extremely friendly, especially Stephen Butchko, the vet. He diagnosed a few issues with our dog within seconds, while our usual vet has never mentioned to us.

Prices were so reasonable! I am used to vets nickel and diming for everything, while Dr. Butchko quotes extremely reasonable prices.

The 2-hour drive to visit this office and the 107 degree weather in Riverside was worth it.

Do yourself and dog a favor and take him to Butchko. Especially for surgeries.

I am actually looking around for a local vet that can do insemination for my 2 olde english bulldogges, and i came across west riverside vet, and it seems funny to me that this person (sketchy vet) is against insemination but yet, im sure your dog was not bought in a shelter, but from a breeder, and also you should look more into the breed before just buying one, should of known that english bulldogs are prone to all sorts of problems, costly problems, if you cant afford the bills then why spend the 2,000 in the first place.

All you people who bad mouth Dr. B just go to VCA. You'll pay for that nice office or scheduled appointment. As for me and my pets we will wait and see Dr B and his staff. For all those who read the negative reviews and don't go good...shorter waiting time for ME.

I have mixed reviews. I have been taking my dogs there since 1987. On most occasions - decent service at VERY AFFORDABLE PRICES! I refer people there all the time... But, on serious emergencies (4 to be exact) I was told to put my dogs down and that they weren't going to make it. They were in cages with IV's and ....... WITHOUT WATER. I asked the attendants why there is no water and they said doctors didn't want food or water in the cages. So I tracked down someone of importance and asked them if I could give my dog water - they went to check with a vet and said yes, if your dog will drink. Well, when I gave my dogs water.... they drank like they had been going across the Sahara desert. On ALL 4 OCCASIONS, the dogs were completely alert and eating within 6-12 hours and were released within 24 hrs. Hmmmm I was told my dogs wouldn't make it and they had deterioted horrifically in the 4-6 days my dogs were there. Their suggestion was made to me to put the dog(s) down. So I go there to visit, depressed, thinking wow - this is it - I have to make "the decision". Instead, I go there and I happened to have a water bottle with me. I tried to give her water and she went nuts trying to get it. I then realized there were no bowls in the cages, so I realized she was thirsty and was pouring water in my hand for her to lap up. She drank over a bottle. I refilled the bottle and she drank that. Within a few hours, she looked so much better. I took her home the next morning - the vets couldn't believe it themselves. I'm am SO GLAD that I did not take their advice about euthanizing my best friends, or I wouldn't have them here with me today. A little water sure did go a long way - it saved their lives and I'm sure of it. Nothing anyone says will change those facts. I'm pretty upset about the whole thing to this day. So, in summary, two dogs on two occasions were on their death bed, then suddenly, when given water, they become healthy enough within 12-24 hrs to be taken home. Something is wrong... this wasn't a one time thing. All I can say is make sure you give your dogs water (if ok by vet) if they are in one of their cages!

Other than that (now that I am aware of the no-water-in-the-cage-issue), I like them for most services. They are flexible, nice, informative and extremely cheaper than any vet around. Hence why I still go there. Not being able to get ahold of them on the phone has been a problem for years... especially when you don't live in the area and your dog is there overnight in the hosptial. Improvement of answering phones could be done and research on your part on your dogs condition could also play a role in their treatment.

I have gone to Dr. B's about 3x a week with my own dogs and rescue dogs. I would not ask for a better Vet and Staff than at Dr. B's place. I dont care about the building or the area, give me a break you people who are so superficial. There are many vets that do not give quotes over the phone because they have to see your pet first, to give you an HONEST quote. Dr. B and staff will also not recommend treatments that are not going to benefit the dog but benefit someone's pocketbook and it wont be yours. I have also talked with them on their insimination process and they do reject people who they feel should not be breeding their dogs, they get yelled and cussed at for this. So please dont judge them on hear say accusations. I know for a fact since I personally ask them when I have an issue with what is going on or I want to know, go straight to the horses mouth they will answer your questions or concerns. They really really care about people and their pets, I had to PTS 2 dogs there and they were very sympathetic. They help many rescues save dogs that would otherwise die in a shelter or on the streets because of lack of medical treatment. I will wait as long as I have to, for my pets and rescues to be seen, My time is precious too but you have to weigh what is more important the health of your pet or doing something else. Their staff is young and energetic and fun to be around. They love animals just as much and many are studying to be vet techs, Be nice to them, they run a very busy office and do not deserve to have people be impatient with them. Give them all the info they need to help your pet, ask questions, tell them everything even what you think is not important. If your dog is very sick or coughing or spitting up tell them, they will place you apart from everyone else. YOU HAVE TO COMMUNICATE! Dont assume, they are not psychic. I trust Dr. Butchko, Steven, Dirk and the Associates and Staff with my dogs lives and the rescues we take there.
God Bless Dr. B and Staff.

There are only three reasons to go to Dr. Butchko: experience, experience, experience! He has been in business for 45 years, he practices with his two sons (who are also vets), and several of his family members are on staff. I was initially a little reluctant to take my bulldogs to Butchko (based solely on some of the reviews I'd read here), but after meeting him, all of my hesitation was gone. He is a very kind man, he took excellent care of my three dogs, and I would be happy to recommend him to anyone.

As a clinician myself, I tend to look for certain details: how experienced are the providers, how attentive is the doctor, how clean is the facility, how do they handle problems, how do they triage priority cases, etc. In all regards, Dr. Butchko and his sons earn excellent marks.

One of my dogs had cherry eye that was initially treated by an eye specialist for $2500. After that initial treatment failed, I took her to Dr. Butchko and for less that $500, he fixed both eyes and guaranteed them for life. I have since taken her in for other things and every time, he checks her eyes and retouches as needed. Very few vets would do this at their own expense.

The only opportunity for improvement is the "modernness" of their current facility. While I understand Dr. Butchko is currently building a new facility, his current clinic is a bit old and run-down, but it is not "a shack in the ghetto." It's a historic building, that actually has a lot of charm, in a low-income neighborhood, but it is not scary. Could it use some new paint and all of that jazz....sure! But few buildings in a historic area are perfect. However, if you must have a state of the art facility with spa-like accommodations for your pet, this will not likely meet your standards.

Quite simply, Dr. Butchko is a kind, gentle, experienced vet who is the only vet I will trust my babies to.

i was considering taking my bulldog who is very sick and has been taken to another vet locally but i have not seen any improvement and was referred by a neighbor while walking my puppy to use Dr. Butchko but after reading many reviews...i don't want to take him there and as for his employee who wrote that bottom comment that is very unproffesional of you and you represent that office. I don't believe in breeding and if they inseminate dogs i think they should be shut down. My bulldog who is still a puppy is very sick and i have spent too much money already and being a full-time student i can't afford to keep paying these vets for nothing i am considering putting him up for adoption but only if i know they will take care of him very well. I would still like to know of a good vet though.

I've interviewed numerous vets before I would take my pets to them as "doctors". In NC, I had no problem, as "Ca-Chinkers" couldn't prosper, as they do here in Ca.
Since here in Orange County, I've encountered few if no experienced veterinary "doctors". Most want to give their booster shots, but operate so infrequently, that they are not experienced enough to treat my pets.
Dr. Butchko and his staff made me feel comfortable, and I didn't go to pieces when I left Sassy for her surgery. I felt good!
Her care was so good, that I didn't mind driving 100 miles from Fountain Valley to Rubideaux. I highly recommend him to all pet owners with whom I come into contact. If you don't like the looks of the office of a "vet" who treats "ANIMALS", then go to your local "ca-chinker", bleach our hair, lift your padded boobs, and get into your sugardaddy's hot rod instead!
Most "Plastic" Californians don't know how to treat their "kids/pets", and seek a good, down-to-earth vet. I do, and have owned 17 show American Cocker Spaniels at once, and treated each w/ good vets! I now own
Silky Terriers, and wouldn't have another vet other than Dr. Butchko.

I have used Dr. Butchko for several years,. He has saved the life of many of my animals. They always do it with extreme care. I am writing this because I feel very disturbed by some of the reviews. I feel quite saddened by the review from the person who had no arms and had a service dog who was quite ill. It is always sad to lose a companion. While Dr. Butchko may have seemed cold, he will always advise you of the most humane and reasonable care for your pet. He will not recommend a treatment that is costly and that will not benefit the dog. I work in the health care industry and I know how difficult it is for people to let go of a loved one. I am sure that Dr. Butchko was trying to let this woman know that aggressive , painful treatment for her animal was not likely going to be successful. He is very ethical and I know if he felt that the animal had any chance of surviving treatment he would have recommended treatment. My condolences to this lady. My hats off to Dr. Butchko for recommending the ethical treatment choice even if it was not the popular choice for the pet owner. I again think the young staff he has working there are remarkably competent. It took me a bit to get used to trusting them, but they always are able to give me good advice. I had to get over my own need to actually speak directly to the doctor. The Butcko's are a fine family and the fact that the facility is plain and simple is no problem for me. I can take my pet to a local vet that has all the fancy bells and whistles and get substandard care if my main motive is to sit on a designer chair and pay dearly for the care. In defense of other vets they do not really have the same volume to treat an animal without 700 tests like the Butchko's have. My motive is not to knock anyone here. I have met and had my animals treated by Dr. Butchko, Steven and all of the other vets at his facility and I can't thank them enough. Ironically I'll be going tomorrow. Thank you..Dr. Butchko..all of you. I have referred at least 40 people to Dr. Butchko's and have never had anything but major thank yous from all of my friends. sincerely Karen And Alan Smith and all of the puggies!! P.S..In responsce to the person who wrote about the isermination and baclyard breeding. guess what, I work in a hospital and see alot of people with children and pregnant with more and no-one tells people not to have more children. I rest my case thank you!!

I'm looking for a place to take my cat- my roommate took a sick kitty to Dr. Butchko, and it died a few days later. I'm not a doctor, but to me it was obvious that the kitten was being WAY over-medicated. The cat might have been doomed from the get-go though, so I thought I would still look at the reviews. In looking for a vet now, the biggest turn off is the employee's review that is a few comments down. The poor grammar and "text type" makes me wonder what type of people they hire. My friend from Hesperia drives here just for Dr. Butchko, but she owns a bulldog. He actually died pretty young too, but she still loves the Dr. so who knows. I won't take my chances.

I drive from Hesperia To go to the Butchko office. I have yet to find a vet in my area I like and I have tired a few, but keep going back to Butchko. I love that they do not take appointments and know I will have a bit of a wait. With my job I can not make vet appointments as my schedule changes weekly. the area is old and so is the office. But it is not the area or the building that treats my dogs it is the vets and techs. I have never had any issues there and have used them for about 10 yrs now.

THIS VET IS COLD HEARTED!--DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! I am a handicapped woman who had my arms amputated and reconstructed. I got by in life only with the help of a valuable service dog who was my whole world. HE was my"hands" --He unlocked a door with his d teeth, dialed 911, got me towels from the dryer, and pulled my wheel chair when the battery went down. When he got cancer, I was terrified, spending every penny I had to try and save him. I took him to Butchko, and he was as coed as crout. HE didn't even TRY to help me or even refer me to someone else. He just wanted me to kill him with The Needle! I drove a long way to see him because HIS PHONE BOOK ADS ARE FANCY, BUT HIS OFFICE SURE ISN'T. IT IS IN A SLUM AREA AND I WAS WORRIED ABOUT EVEN PARKING MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT. So if you love your dog, do NOT take him here especially if he has something serious--because this guy has been a vet so long he has become indifferent to your heartache or your pet's pain!

I am a long time customer of Dr. Butchkos and go there for their reasonable prices and convenience. Since it is walk-in only, you don't have to make an appointment days in advance as with some other vets! They are also very honest and don't try to waste your time and money by ordering unnecessary tests like most other vets do. The only drawbacks are: That the wait is usually long as it is a popular place; that you are unlikely to see to see the same Dr. twice unless requested and wait longer; Most of the time it is very crowded, so seating is usually full and people are waiting outside. I also wouldn't recommend taking a dog there if it needs immediate life saving emergency care (i.e.bleeding to death) because it is crowded and your pet might expire while waiting in line to check in! But if you just want a down to earth, good honest vet at a reasonable price with quality care, then Dr. Butchkos is the place to go!

im a employee at dr. butchkos i have read many of these review and i think you ppl are so stupid its a vet who cares were its located if your to scared togo there than let ur animal die we do what we need to to keep our staff and other animals safe if you know your animal is a biter or can be snappy at times than do us and everyone a favor and get a mussel its as easy as that and the reason we do NOT do spay/alter quotes over the phone is because the animal has to be looked over by the doctor so he can determine if it can go under anesthesia and to see if blood work is needed so your o so beloved animal doesn't die! its not because were run poorly its a safety measure ! not every animal is the same and due to this FACT we have to go through steps to insure that your pet is of for the surgery. for animals that certain symptoms are put in certain rooms for instance i see a lady that says her animal supposedly had kennel cough>? we are not doctors at the front counter we look over the animal listen to the customer and write on the charts what seems to be the problem with the animal it is u to you to provide the correct symptoms in order for us to get the right care for your animal that is your bad if you do to provide us with the correct information so remember we are not mind readers now doctors if you think ur animal ha kennel cough be smart and leave your animal in the care we provide a service were we go to your car and get you! ppl seem to get this lil thing in there mind were they think they are a vet and can diagnose there animal like for instance "my dog is throwing up and diarrhea" so it has parvo! NO its not always parvo it can be many many different problems some minor some not

** people we are a good vet im upset that ppl are putting us down due to their immature actions***

we are a good price vet always willing to help you and yes busy but worth the wait...

Simply the best! I live an hour and a half away from his office, and will gladly drive 65 miles and wait 1 or 2 hours for him to look at my bulldog. My bulldog was born there, and has received care there for 13 years. He is still going strong, thanks to the Butchkos. They can diagnose a problem within 5 minutes, where as VCA or other local vet will run dozens of expensive tests and then just shrug their shoulders completely perplexed. They know bulldogs, and if you love your dog and want the best possible care, this is the place to go, hands down!

Most of the people complaining about the neighborhood must be extremely sheltered and narrow minded. First of all I've worked with the staff and in the area for a very long time, even until late hours of the night. Sure the area isn't pretty to look at but nothing has ever happened to me, day or night, in that area. The staff are the friendliest people i have come across and if anything it is most of the snotty, rude customers that i've ever seen give attitude. You look down on the neighborhood and the people you see around but you yourselves are more of a problem then they could ever be.

I have been going to the Butchko's for years and I wouldn't take my pets to anyone else! Yes, the neighborhood has gone to crap, not their fault, the office is not the prettiest, they could remodel I guess, then they would have to raise their prices to cover remodeling costs duh! and on an unlucky day, which is often, the lines and wait can be hours long, there's a reason they are crowded. But it is all worth it! Yes, you see a LOT of Bulldogs, that is their specialty, but you will see dogs of ALL breeds along with various other animals as well. You will see breeders as well as your common pet owner in the waiting room. People come from all over the state (and some from out of state) to see the Butchko's. The Butchko's know what they are doing and they do care about your pets... they are straight shooters and are not out to make money off your pets.... and for someone (me) who is always on a budget, I appreciate their affordable costs and their honesty! They have always treated me with respect and I appreciate that. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have been going to this vet for years and have always ignored the unsatisfactory condition of the office, but as of recently me and my family members will no longer take our animals there. The first problem was when they were removing the stitches from my Queensland after being neutered. He was scared so instead of using a muzzle THEY TAPED HIS MOUTH SHUT!!!! Masking tape was used on his hair then ripped off as we left. Then I had a husky whom I needed fixed and was living about an hour away, so I called to ask what the price would be and they REFUSED to quote me a price even though I knew his exact weight and age. The last straw was when my poor dacshhund was kicked by a horse. I was willing to do ANYTHING to save this dog but they took their time. She eventually died from a punctured lung which could have easily been fixed if they had treated her right away. I warn you, unless you want to BREED a BULLDOG this is NOT the place to go.

We had taken our dog somewhere else first, they kept giving us antibiotic ointments but didn't know what was wrong, they said our dog would become eventually blind, I called my dogs breeder who sent us to Dr. Butchko, he knew in 10 seconds after looking at my dog that he had entropia, I had never heard of it. He did the operation and my dogs sight is fine. Once again my dog had to be save by these miraculous vets when he apparently was bit by something and his whole body shut down. I thought for sure he wasn't going to make it, but they said Don't Give Up Yet...He's coming home today. They charge extremely minimal for what they do, I would recommend these vets to anyone and I do every chance I get. Rosa Pickett....

Special Thanks to Michael Butchko,DVM - It was beyond my expectations! Diagnose was exact and prompt, prices for procedures were given immediately and not overrated (very affordable!),treatment was performed at the same day. Very Professional. It is definitely worth of 1.5 hours of driving.
When I walked in I saw the line of people standing to the registrar and numerous people seating or standing with their pets mostly English bulldogs, but also some other large and small breeds.
There is no such a thing as appointment in this clinic ,only walk ins,but people come to see these doctors from different places and willing to wait in lines. Treatment and affordable care for every animal is a device for this hospital, not a fancy interior with expensive prices. They are experts in this industry.

dr.butchko and his staff were kind and professional
and yes the office and neighborhood are a bit on the rough side, but the truly scary part of my visit was the number of what looked like back yard breeders bringing in unhealthy looking dogs to either be inseminated or to give birth. i was really sad when i left and wondered why the office wasnt calling the police on these people while still providing medical attention these animals desperately needed.i would not refer anyone here and ps....this is not really in riverside

I have been a customer of Dr Butchkos for 30 years . Will keep going to him as long as I can. Every time other vets have told us we had to put an animal down he has said other wise and has always fixed the problem . Not only has the problem been fixed but the price was always right sometimes it was not cheap but its worth the money if you love your pet as much as I love mine . also he has always been willing to help with payments if we were going thru hard times . I feel safe taking my animals to him and I could not trust anyone else with my animals . Whenever I have taken animals to other places not only have they said to put the animal to sleep but something bad has always happened to that animal . So I stick to Butchko from now on . The building is old yes and the town is very low income yes but should judge a book by its cover .

My experience with this clinic was very disappointing. It is run like a factory with long waits (no appointments) and the waiting room filled overwhelmingly with pitbulls and Rottweillers. There is little personal attention. I felt as if going to a low cost clinic, for the initial fee is low but services not a bargain. When I inquired about spaying my dog, they would not give me a price on the phone, or even a price range. They insisted in seeing her. I prefer a vet who takes the time to answer questions and make appointments. My time is also valuable and I do not appreciate the assembly line treatment.

We absolutely LOVE Butchko. Yes, we make the trek all the way from Irvine, but wouldnt trust anyone else with Brooozer. Have been to many O.C vets that have no clue. So what if the place looks alittle scary. By the way we were seperated from the rest when they thought he might be contagious. So I dont know what your talking about!!

I got my first bulldog for Christmas of last year and from the moment I got her the people that I have spoke to about a good vet have all recommended Dr. Butchko. They obviously know what they are doing when it comes to bulldogs. If anyone has ever been there they will see that there are mainly bulldogs that go to him. He was very helpful towards all my questions. The only mistake that I have made when it comes to Dr. Butchko's office is that I took my Penny to another Vet once and they charged me $1200.00 for a eye problem that she had and Dr. Butchko said that he would have fixed it for about half the price I paid. So not only do they know what they are doing they also charge you less for good service. I will recommend them to all my bulldog owners.

So not only do they know what they are doing they also charge you less for good service. I will recommend them to all my bulldog owners.

I have used the service of Dr Butchko for 4 years. He has always provided the service I would expect to get from a professional. I like the no appointment Idea instead of getting an appointment that does not fit my schedule. As always the price is right. The location and upkeep of the facility does not concern me as much as the service.

When we first started going to Dr. Butchko about 3 years ago, we really liked the vet we saw. Unfortunately, that vet left and I have yet to meet another one that actually takes the time to listen to me and check my dogs thoroughly.

You also cannot make an appointment. They see as many animals as they can. You wait to check in, wait to see the vet, wait to pay, wait for meds, etc. I think the longest I waited was about 1.5 hours just to see the vet. My dog had kennel cough, and depsite my warning, they had us sit around all the other dogs. That visit took nearly 3 hours.

Many people recommened this vet, and if you have an English Bulldog, he's the oen to go to, but otherwise, it's like going to a cattle call. I think things have gone downhill since certain drs retired.

Don't ignore the bad reviews. I did and now regret it. I called to make an appointment, and the girl told me to come right in because my dog was really sick. I drove all the way out there. The first thing I noticed was the neighborhood. It is really scary. The office was easy to find, but it is really falling apart. The condition of the building made me wonder what type of cleanliness would be inside. It was just as bad inside. A girl waited on me promptly. Immediately, she asked for my ID. Then she went on to explain that because I am a new client, that I must pay in cash! What kind of business is this? They refused my credit card! I felt like a criminal. When I questioned her, she said "It is a sign of the times"!
I am not a criminal and do not live in a ghetto.

I was trying to find a vet in Riverside because my current vet is in Anaheim Hills. I think I will just drive the distance and be treated properly!

Although I'm only 22 years old, my family has been with Dr. Butchko for over 17 years!!! We have grown very close with the family and associates that work there, and have always appreciated the extra effort they have put out for us. Over the years, we have seen many new faces, but a lot of the "originals" remain the same, including the Butchko family. I can't speak for the rest of the staff, (since we generally only see Sr.) but I can't imagine them hiring anyone who was better than good to work at their office. Yes, the building is not located in the best area, yes it may appear run down to some....but you should have seen it in the beginning! After all, didn't Mama used to say not to judge a book by its cover?

I did wait a long time to see a Vet. I found the office to be dark, dirty and run down. Animals that should have been away from the others, because they were sick were with everyone. While waiting to see a Vet an employee kept teasing my dog. My dog was already upset just being there. Even after I had asked this person to stop teasing my dog he continued. The Vet did not introduce himself. All I can say he was an asian man. He did not examine my dog. He never one touched my dog. He did not even check my dog's temp. The Vet gave me medication to give my dog and that was it. So what kind of care did my dog get? I guess I got what I payed for. I will not be going back.

1 month later and 4 visits to dr. butchko my dog still has the same problem and is worse for it. i have read at least 3 positive reviews of this vet. the problem is he has at least 3 other vets at his office. i have seen 2 of them for what i thought should be a simple diagnosis and treatment for my dog. one is a Caucasian woman (i dont remember their names so i will desribe them) who became very aggravated with me when i asked to see dr. butchko after my third visit and no result. instead of dr. butchko i got an asian vet whose diagnosis and treatment fared no better than the first. after $180 spent and a lot of wasted time, i have found the vets there to be rude and incompetent. i do not trust my pet with these people.

I have never had a vet that took care of my dogs as if it were his own. I would recommend Dr.Butchko to everyone that has a pet. There's always a line and it's worth every minute of the wait! We love you long time!!!

is well-known throughout Riverside as an excellent doctor who charges reasonable prices. You have to wait in line (he doesn't take appointments), but it's worth it!

vet in Southern Calif! Dog breeders and show people come from all over the state to have Dr. Butchko care for their animals. Fair prices (much lower than most vets) and excellent medicine make Dr. Butchko stand out!
